Hi, I suppose my aibu is aibu to ask what people have as a sweet evening snack / pudding, that does not contain sugar or sweetners? I'm so bored of just having fruit or fruit with nut butter. I just can't think of anything else - except plain greek yog and fruit. Any suggestions? I've cut out sugar as I'm very overweight (have ptsd and used eating as a coping strategy, have never been overweight before). Any suggestions v v much appreciated! Thanks!

A cup of herbal or fruit tea. I like a lemon and ginger one.
You are looking for something sweet and not sugar. But maybe it's more the "something nice to have" aspect and not the sweetness.
A cup of delicious smelling tea which you can hold and sip may satisfy that urge.
Otherwise, I recommend brushing your teeth after dinner and do something else to distrast at your normal craving time.
Or if you really need to eat something how about nuts? Some pistachios or something that takes a while to eat.

Frozen berries. Gamechanger.

BarbedBloom · 09/09/2019 21:41

Unfortunately I am similar as I crave sweet stuff. Have tried stopping over the years but it just makes me miserable. I do tend to have fruit and full fat Greek yoghurt or a mug of hot chocolate, but both have sugar in

Sorry if this sounds harsh but I haven't had a pudding after dinner since I was about 11. Can you knock it on the head completely? You don't need it at all. Maybe have a larger dinner but no sugary pudding. I only ever have pudding if out for dinner. Again, sorry if this sounds harsh Flowers

Or frozen red grapes!

7salmonswimming · 09/09/2019 21:41

Blended frozen bananas.

KimchiLaLa · 09/09/2019 21:44

Banana ice cream works well. Freeze bananas, blend with some milk and peanut butter if you want to make it more calorific or without.

Veterinari · 09/09/2019 21:44

Sugar free jelly or custard pots
I also buy cow and gate fruit pots (for babies)
They’re just blended fruit - yummy

Unless you absolutely must avoid sugar, I have found more success with having a small portion of something like dark chocolate than with abstaining entirely.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 09/09/2019 21:46

Push dinner back til 8pm, pint of water after it, brush teeth, go to sleep.

Neverender · 09/09/2019 21:47

I have pudding about once every four months. Again, not meaning to be horrible but it's just not a normal every day thing for most people...

GoneFishingNC · 09/09/2019 21:47

I used to always want something sweet after dinner but now have completely weaned myself off it. Not even fruit.

I drink herbal teas instead -
I’ve trained myself to know that there’s no more eating once dinner is done.

Neverender · 09/09/2019 21:47

Not trying to be mean, I promise x

I don’t have pudding but I calorie count and Incorporate a small treat at the end of the day once dc in bed. Helps me to stay on track.

SchrodingersMeowth · 09/09/2019 21:51

No one here does dessert either.

I also don’t think fruit helps with fighting sugar cravings.

I can’t really eat much of anything but find sugar free ice poles help with cravings for “something”.

StormcloakNord · 09/09/2019 21:51

Skinny whips saved my life.

They are amazing. 99 calories of chewy caramel goodness. Feels perfect after dinner to get rid of the sweet tooth cravings!

HerSymphonyAndSong · 09/09/2019 21:52

Raspberries with clotted cream is my favourite pudding ever and v low sugar. Maybe not every day though (i’d Give it a good go given the chance)

SallyWD · 09/09/2019 21:52

Just don't have pudding? It's not obligatory. I never do...

I have never had pudding every day for my whole life (just sundays when I was a child but not even that these days) but it’s nice to have something if you do fancy it

Pangur2 · 09/09/2019 21:53

I do Keto and one of my dessert options is whipped double cream with grated dark choc (at least 80%) and maybe some blueberries chucked in. V filling; you don't need much!

Kanga83 · 09/09/2019 21:55

Have you tried roasting the fruit? I'm doing whole 30 which is zero sugar, sweetness, artificial, dairy, legumes, grains. The last three days I have had

  • sliced lengthways roasted banana sprinkled with cinnamon. Has mark 4, 10 mins.

-roasted figs, quarter but don't cut through.

  • bakes nectarines.
I add roasted nuts and seeds.

What I normally have when not doing it is

Banana nice cream - peel and chop banana, freeze, blitz.

Husband likes Fage 0% yogurt with honey and pistachios .

cultkid · 09/09/2019 21:55

Glass of wine

thenightsky · 09/09/2019 21:55

Can't remember the last time I ate a pudding or we even had pudding/dessert stuff in the house. If I fancy something sweet, I tend to pick up a satsuma. Lidl greek yoghurt is nice and has no sugar at all if you fancy something creamy.
