DH and I are having a mini-war over cat poo Blush

He thinks it is entirely reasonable to bag up poo from the cat litter tray and put it in the kitchen bin, which is emptied every few days. I think this is fucking repulsive and stinks the kitchen out, and cat poo, bagged or otherwise, does not belong in a kitchen. His position is "it's not reasonable to expect me to traipse out to the wheelybin every time I empty the litter tray". If I pick up poo I put it in the outside bin (because I'm not a minging pig and don't want faeces in my kitchen)

The teenagers are (loudly) siding with him. I'm right, aren't I? It's gross?

I put mine outside the back door into a small bin at the door purely for this purpose so I don’t have to right out to the wheelie bin. If I absent mindedly put the poo in the inside bin I soon smell the error of my ways. Disgusting.

FenellaVelour · 08/09/2019 22:01

We also use a litter locker and keep it next to the trays which are upstairs in the bathroom. Keeps things contained without having to go outside every day.

No way would I have it in the kitchen.

I just put it outside the back door and then pick it up to take to the wheelie bin next time I’m going that way. I often double bag and you can still smell it. Grim.

Dementornator · 08/09/2019 22:05

That’s just gross

Anything with poo, puke, smelly food etc goes straight into the outside bin. I couldn’t walk around on my house comfortable if it smelt of cat poo

lljkk · 08/09/2019 22:06

We put the cat mess in kitchen bin (shrug). Works for us.

I always have lots of old plastic bags: sandwich bread, pears, magazines, new pants, courgettes... all came in plastic bags. Enough plastic bag wrapping & no smell can escape.

likeafishneedsabike · 08/09/2019 22:08

I fling the poo bag straight out of the window into the back garden, then into wheelie bin when taking the main bin. Used to do the same with nappies back in the nappy days.

DidYeAyee · 08/09/2019 22:09

Ive started using corn litter, which clumps and is flushable. Haven't noticed any smell at all to be fair but I am pretty vigilant with scooping.

PookieDo · 08/09/2019 22:10

Catsan stinks of ammonia it makes me heave!
I buy recycled wood/paper litter and it goes outside to the bin but I am pretty sure sometimes DD puts it into the kitchen bin when I am not looking

MaybeitsMaybelline · 08/09/2019 22:12

I have trained mine to go in a litter tray that’s empty by reducing the litter down to just newspaper then nothing. Now I can empty a tray with a big dump straight down the toilet. I sit the tray in the downstairs shower tray so no mess and any accidents are easily cleaned.

AnneElliott · 08/09/2019 22:12

You ate right and your DH is minging. Ours gets bagged and out straight outside. No way would I have it in the kitchen bin!

user1473878824 · 08/09/2019 22:14

Sorry, I realise I’m in the gross minority of using the kitchen bin, but you throw poo bags and nappy bags into the garden until the next day?

Wait, until the bin is full? What?!

thebakerwithboobs · 08/09/2019 22:16

I don't have a cat so this is a genuine question. Can cat poo from the litter tray not be flushed down a toilet?

TheTrollFairy · 08/09/2019 22:17

Get worlds best cat litter. It’s flushable!

Ellie56 · 08/09/2019 22:17

Yes it is gross and minging. Cat shit stinks.

AnnaMagnani · 08/09/2019 22:18

He is absolutely disgusting.

Get flushable litter or a cat litter nappy bin equivalent - both exist.

We have the flushable litter and it's brilliant.

FreckledLeopard · 08/09/2019 22:19

We use the wood cat litter. It seems to smell less than others. We flush the poo immediately.

everythingisginandroses · 08/09/2019 22:19

Bury in garden, down the loo or in black bin. Cat poo does not stay in the house, no way.

RiftGibbon · 08/09/2019 22:20

Shake off the litter and flush it down the loo.

Mrsmadevans · 08/09/2019 22:26

They are all being very unreasonable , disgusting!

Mummymummums · 08/09/2019 22:29

Straight outside - YANBU

DontForgetToDeadhead · 08/09/2019 22:30

thebakerwithboobs - it's usually all stuck together with litter so it depends if the litter is flushable. Some is.

DontForgetToDeadhead · 08/09/2019 22:30

And OP - YANBU. (And I have fairly low standards)
