DH and I are having a mini-war over cat poo Blush

He thinks it is entirely reasonable to bag up poo from the cat litter tray and put it in the kitchen bin, which is emptied every few days. I think this is fucking repulsive and stinks the kitchen out, and cat poo, bagged or otherwise, does not belong in a kitchen. His position is "it's not reasonable to expect me to traipse out to the wheelybin every time I empty the litter tray". If I pick up poo I put it in the outside bin (because I'm not a minging pig and don't want faeces in my kitchen)

The teenagers are (loudly) siding with him. I'm right, aren't I? It's gross?

🤮

Needs to go outside, it stinks to high heaven!

dollydaydream114 · 08/09/2019 21:40

Yes, putting cat shit in a kitchen bin is absolutely rank.

Although I don't think I could actually stand to have a litter tray in the house either, so I might not be the most impartial adjudicator here.

AlmostAJillSandwich · 08/09/2019 21:41

Maybe you need a litter robot.

happychange · 08/09/2019 21:41

We flush ours down the loo , no problem so far

Domino45 · 08/09/2019 21:42

We have an indoor cat & the cat poo gets flushed down the loo. No way would it go in the kitchen bin. Cat poo sinks and the smell spreads fast.

AnnaMariaDreams · 08/09/2019 21:44

Also use Cats Best okoplus and flush it down the loo.

K4fkaesque · 08/09/2019 21:46

I used a litter locker when we had a cat in a flat, just too far to the outside bins and it kept the smell contained. Similar in concept to the Tommee Tippee nappy bins.

IncrediblySadToo · 08/09/2019 21:46

Sadly mine are no longer with us, but we always used to put the cat poo down the toilet, but if that’s not practical then yes, the OUTSIDE bin, not the kitchen bin 🤮

Between him & the teenagers it can’t be more than a couple of times a day- how fucking lazy is he??

C0untDucku1a · 08/09/2019 21:46

My litter tray is in the bathroom. Poo goes down the loo. Wouldn't have the tray in my kitchen

AryaStarkWolf · 08/09/2019 21:48

Yanbu, I always put it straight outside too

Idontwanttotalk · 08/09/2019 21:48

Why not flush the poo down the loo and then just dispose of the plastic bag in the outside bin anyway? Aren't you just adding to the amount of rubbish that goes to landfill unnecessarily?

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 08/09/2019 21:49

@pigeononthegate - put it in the teenagers’ bins - that’ll change their minds!

He is being utterly unreasonable and completely minging.

Sorrysorrysosorry · 08/09/2019 21:49

We flush ours down the loo , no problem so far

Seriously?
The toxoplasmosis that can be in cat poop isn't eradicated in the water treatment plants so it gets into the rivers and harms water dwelling wild life.

adaline · 08/09/2019 21:50

Flush the poo down the toilet - no need to waste plastic bags at all.

spongedog · 08/09/2019 21:52

i do what your DH does. Have done for the last 7 years. No issues here. My cat does go outside most days so perhaps not a poo a day in the litter tray. I use non-clumping litter whatever - works fine.

We use the Cats Best . It forms a solid clump when they pee and seems to dry out their pooh so it doesn't smell so much . We spot clean 3-4 times a day (and if we know they have poohed )

I have a small bin in the porch , the pooh is sealed in nappy bags and the small bin emptied every day .

As an aside - do you feed Grain Free? I swapped ours onto GF when I got them and the smell of their pooh improved 100 fold.

And FYI , your DH is minging Envy

TooSweetToBeSour · 08/09/2019 21:56

Get yourselves a litter locker OP. No smells, and only needs emptying every week or so (based on one cat).

LitterLocker

Monkeyplanet · 08/09/2019 21:56

YANBU at all...he is being disgusting

Purplecatshopaholic · 08/09/2019 21:58

I bag all cat poo up in fragranced dog poo bags and put in the kitchen bin. None of my cats have smelly poos generally thankfully. Never been an issue. Must admit it has never occurred to me to do anything else, traipsing to the wheely bin every time is just not going to happen.

SunshineAngel · 08/09/2019 21:58

The litter tray shouldn't need emptying enough for going outside to be a major issue, to be honest, particularly if you take it in turns.

If however the litter is completely contained in the bag, and it masks all smell, I don't think it's too bad to put it in the kitchen bin if you don't want to go outside at night - but I'd empty it in the morning, as I just don't like the thought of it being in there.

SaraNade · 08/09/2019 21:59

I scoop our cat's poo into the toilet and flush.

KatewithaH · 08/09/2019 21:59

How far to the bin?

PanamaPattie · 08/09/2019 22:00

Rat carcasses! 🤢
