I have just received a card with this gem on it ...
'When you look into a field of dandelions, you can either see a hundred weeds or a hundred wishes'

It's given me the rage as it (a) is so twee it makes me want to vomit (b) doesn't fucking make sense - why would dandelions be wishes? and (c) sometimes you need to see the weeds i.e. face reality

I know I am probably BU but seriously? Why do people feel the need to pass on this stuff ??

Oh op they’ve just “Bloomed where they were planted”

HotChocolateLover · 07/09/2019 15:46

I think my most hated one is ‘Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass, it’s about learning to dance in the rain’ 🤢 🤮 🤮

tttigress · 07/09/2019 16:02

YANBU.... however the quote does make sent, my advice is just let it go.

PeriComoToes · 07/09/2019 16:04

What a cunt! Imagine sending such a thing.

Calm down and carry on.

PeriComoToes · 07/09/2019 16:05

No wait. Keep calm and carry on

ILiveInSalemsLot · 07/09/2019 16:11

I love inspirational quotes but that one’s rubbish as wishes are useless really.
Learning to dance in the rain is a bit more proactive so I can deal with that one.

Lillyhatesjaz · 07/09/2019 18:44

I find them annoying but it could be worse. DH once gave me a mug for a significant birthday with a lovely little poem about riding and elderly bicycles and failed to understand why rather than laughing I pitched it into the bin from smashing distance.
He was lucky to avoid divorce.

TomHagenMakesMyBosomTremble · 07/09/2019 18:56

I save the odd one or two that I see that speak to me but I never share them! The majority of them really annoy me because they're a bit trite. I currently have the attached pic as my phone background though, because it does speak to me atm.

@crustycrab

Don't look back, you're not going that way

@StealthPolarBear

Crusty, it needs to be 'your not going'. These quotes might be inspirational but they're not grammatical ;)

Stealth, you’re wrong

Itsfineactually · 07/09/2019 19:06

Fuck @StealthPolarBear, just got your post 😬🙄

I’m dumb!!

I mean Im

Matildatoldsuchdreadfullies · 07/09/2019 19:09

Ds (17) likes to share uplifting quotes, particularly when his dsis is revising. It’s like living with bloody Patience Strong.

Savingforarainyday · 07/09/2019 19:16

Live, love, laugh... 😡

But the one I absolutely fucking bloody goddamn hate is the one with the girls in a ballet lesson, and one is hanging off the barre, and it says you should " be that girl".

ARGH!!!!!!!

LIKE IT'S NOT OK TO BE RESERVED!! WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU'RE THE TYPE OF PERSON THAT JUST WANTS TO BE AT THE FUCKING BALLET LESSON TO LEARN BALLET!!!??!!🤬🤬

Happygilmorelove · 07/09/2019 19:26

A friend of mine has this sign in her house and it just makes my teeth itch...it says ""And all because mummy and daddy fell in love..." Am I horrible, or is that unbelievably sick making?!

hazell42 · 07/09/2019 19:27

My dil used to have a plaque in her kitchen that said 'A smile is a sign of happiness'
What else would it be a sign of?
She was also a fan of the live laugh love bollocks, but that one took the biscuit

Sargass0 · 07/09/2019 19:29

If you're looking for sympathy it's in the dictionary between shit and syphillis .....

NorksAreMessy · 07/09/2019 19:34

From years ago and I don’t know who was the author, but I share this so much

I actually quite like inspirational quotes 🤫

They cheer me up. Especially some from the Dalai Lama

Although “and all because mummy and daddy fell in love” is vomit inducing.

theSnuffster · 07/09/2019 19:49

Yeah they wind me up. Along with the little poem that was being shared on Facebook about enjoying the summer holidays, letting your kids eat as many snacks as they want, and forgetting about all the chores as you can just do them in September when the kids go back to school. Fuck off! For a start I had to go back to work when the kids went back to school last week, not everyone is able to be at home during school hours cleaning up after 6 weeks of chaos!

Lifecraft · 07/09/2019 20:07

Every silver lining has a cloud.

As one door closes, another one slams in your face.

The light at the end of the tunnel is probably attached to an oncoming train.

If at first you don't succeed, skydiving isn't for you.

Is that the kind of thing OP?

BrightYellowDaffodil · 07/09/2019 20:34

@NorksAreMessy That made me actually laugh out loud Grin

LaMarschallin · 07/09/2019 20:54

Live your dream - turn up naked to take an exam you haven't studied for and then watch your teeth fall out.

Siameasy · 07/09/2019 22:09

I hate them too - none of them are at all inspiring other than to inspire me to punch the wall!!

HighlandKit · 07/09/2019 22:12

I generally hate this shite too. But I did read this one the other day which I quite liked: “spend more time looking at the doughnut not the hole”.

360eyes · 07/09/2019 22:18

I wouldn't walk in to a gift shop in a market town if I were you. You would explode.

Another one here who hates this shite. I have always wanted to put piss takes of these quotes on bits of drift wood and smuggle them in to these shops, like some sort of anti drivel secret movement. Does anyone have an idea of some piss take quotes?
