They are far too sweet and sickly and I just don't get why everyone seems to rave about them. Much prefer ordinary chips.

I like them. People enjoy different flavours...

PossiblyPFB · 03/09/2019 19:43

You’re not wrong. I have tried them, but really dislike them for the same reason! YANBU, but everyone I know (bar my child who also hates them) love them so perhaps it’s an unpopular stance.

MrsMozartMkII · 03/09/2019 19:43

Cos they is nice Grin

Urskeks · 03/09/2019 19:45

They're nice but it depends what you're having them with, too.

They've also been around for years, the latest craze is triple cooked chips (bleh) and "dirty food".

I prefer chips cooked normally. Not that I'm a huge fan of them full stop.

altiara · 03/09/2019 19:45

I really love them.

Hope that’s helpful Grin

Watchingthyme · 03/09/2019 19:46

They are indeed disgusting
But each to their own

HarryElephante · 03/09/2019 19:46

People in 'different food tastes' shocker!

CheeryB · 03/09/2019 19:48

I really loved them but I ate them so often I went off them. Can't fancy them now. I wish that would happen with chocolate.

Lamentations · 03/09/2019 19:50

Soggy orange sweet chips. What's not to hate? YANBU

MissConductUS · 03/09/2019 19:50

They've been fairly popular for ages in the US, but nowhere near as popular as regular fries. I have noticed some restaurants offering them as an alternative to standard fries.

ilovewinterpansies · 03/09/2019 19:51

YABU. Sweet and salty deliciousness.

superram · 03/09/2019 19:53

Minging, soggy, flavourless.

BillywigSting · 03/09/2019 19:53

Yanbu they are far too sweet and universally disappointing.

Eating sweet potato fries is like tucking into a roast potato that is actually a roast parsnip in disguise.

noblegiraffe · 03/09/2019 19:54

For an extra pound would you like to upgrade to sweet potato fries?

I’d pay an extra pound to not have them!

Catmar · 03/09/2019 19:55

Overated and overpriced. I was asked if I wanted a "sweet potato upgrade" in the pub the other day when I ordered a burger and chips. No thanksHmmGrin

Leftielefterson · 03/09/2019 19:55

I love them.

AgentJohnson · 03/09/2019 19:57

People in 'different food tastes' shocker!

They are nutritionally superior to their non sweet brethren and became they are sweet I eat less of them. However, bad sweet potato fries are awful.

userxx · 03/09/2019 19:57

Nasty things.

Tulipsandpinkroses · 03/09/2019 19:58

I love them too. For fellow sweet potato chip lovers if you are ever at Borough Market head to Scotchtails, they do THE best SPF’s ever!

writersbeenblocked · 03/09/2019 19:58

I agree with OP, potatoes are not meant to be orange, or sweet. Sweet potatoes are an abomination IMO! But like PP said, each to their own!

HotChocolateLover · 03/09/2019 19:58

Because they are so yummy and the wedges are even better. And with sweet chilli sauce, fab 👍

goose1964 · 03/09/2019 19:58

I've never tried them the name is enough for me. I don't really like sweet potato unless it's mashed with shedloads of Caribbean hot sauce (the really hot stuff) and then only about a tablespoon.

Disfordarkchocolate · 03/09/2019 19:58

I love them, some mayo for dipping and I'm proper jolly.

SisterSistine · 03/09/2019 19:59

I tried to fob my child off with some by claiming they were just orange chips. He ate one and said "these chips are WRONG" and refused to eat any more.
