Drinking on a school trip?

I contacted my child's school after a camping trip to ask about the teachers drinking on one of the evenings. My child said there was a lot of laughing, screeching and in her opinion the teachers were drunk. She's 13 so not a young child and I think she'd recognise someone drinking. I got an email reply today and part of it says "some staff did stay up later than the children one night, but at no point were any staff drunk. As an additional precaution two staff members consumed no alcohol at all".

AIBU to surmise then that the remaining staff members did have a drink - but in their opinion they weren't drunk - and is this actually acceptable? I don't think any teachers should be drinking on a school trip but now I am doubting myself and looking for opinions please!

How dare the teacher laugh assuming nothing more happened and no one was put in any danger!? Why wouldn’t your daughter even report it back to you? seems like a complete non event. Oh you and your daughter are one of those mother and daughter combos 🙄 she tells tales and you get riled up over nothing. Of course you are being unreasonable.

witch
I'm doing a school trip this term.

In the staff briefing before the trip I'll be making it clear that under no circumstances should staff laugh or joke with each other in case someone puts in a complaint about them.

There was a teacher on my train this morning, and I think she cracked a smile at one point.

What should I do about this? Shall I just report to the head, or would you go straight to Osfted?

Fell at the last hurdle.

Ofsted.

BadLad have you had a drink?

BadLad · 09/09/2019 22:54

I'll have a glass of Sancerre if you're buying.

Op never drinks when her little treasures in bed. Or is it different because the teachers are paid to look after your little treasure. Except they are not.

Well, only if you’re not a teacher, BadLad otherwise your immediate resignation will be necessary. A career in education and alcohol consumption must, for ethical reasons, remain mutually exclusive.
