Sitting here mouth open at the latest offering on instagram. Why?? They are leaving themselves open for ridicule. I think this should have been left on the back burner for a time.

To be fair Andrew and Fergie zipped around in private jets in August with not a whisper that it simply was not on. H an M are taking the flak for this unfairly. Lots of rich people fly on and own private jets. Travolta even flies his own. Harrison Ford is a pilot.

Personally I would love to sweep up my extended family and whisk them off somewhere, sadly my purse will not stretch to that.

They are all equally bad, frankly. The Sussexes are just bad in an extra-annoying way because they have been a bit preachy about the environment (Prince Harry and the plastic dry-cleaning bag etc.).

Although it all pales in comparison with what dear old Uncle Andrew has been up to...

I think media are taking the line that PA has far more significant matters to be judged on, so this is glossed over as a minor indiscretion.

Ihopeyourcakeisshit · 03/09/2019 13:41

H&M come across as terribly preachy though, that seems to be the difference, that combined with a very inflated sense of their own importance/significance.

NoTheresa · 03/09/2019 13:47

The preaching duo really are stupid.

NoBaggyPants · 03/09/2019 13:50

The initiative is a good one, the problem is they've dressed it up like some uber posh travel service! It just reinforces how our of touch they are.

(And I quite like them normally.)

FudgeBrownie2019 · 03/09/2019 13:50

I understand that they see it as their role given their platform to try and educate and share awareness of issues they feel are important. But I also think it's a little preachy given their private lives. It's fine to preach, but then live what you preach.

NoTheresa · 03/09/2019 13:54

There are plenty of individuals professionally involved in the area of planet protection. I am inclined to listen to them because they are highly qualified and experienced people. They are worthy of respect - unlike the present 6th in line to the throne and his wife.

I thought they were off to sunny “LA” any time soon?

CilantroChili · 03/09/2019 13:56

Is anything actually happening with regard to the Andrew business tho? Or is it a just keep quiet & wait for it all to go away situation?

justasking111 · 03/09/2019 13:56

I think we struggle with the americanisation of their projects. Al Gore is thought to be an environmental hero. Here in the UK we look askance at his idea of saving the planet.

No one really passed much remarks about the RF using other people's private jets until Meghan started doing it.

justasking111 · 03/09/2019 13:58

The carbon offsetting Elton John paid £124 for H and M flight, well add a couple of 00`s to that I might be swayed.

Princess Margaret swanned around on other folks dimes, no-one batted an eyelid. Charles and Camilla. Have William and Kate?

None of those people preached to us about climate change though

Charles has done that for years

LaMarschallin · 03/09/2019 14:06

Just settling down with my "MN threads on the royal family" bingo card.

Ticked one off already.

Oh no! Two actually: I see myself here Smile

Do we yell "House!" or "Palace/Cottage/Castle/Mansion!" if we fill in a card?

sue51 · 03/09/2019 14:07

I don't care if they use private jets as long as they don't try to guilt trip us over our hard earned 2 weeks away. PA has been known to be dodgy for years, I hope his free pass is over now.

Funghi · 03/09/2019 14:07

He paid £124?? Shock

NoTheresa · 03/09/2019 14:08

This is about the last cringeworthy episode of preachiness from someone who in an only is stupid and insensitive. It is not about other members of the Royal Family.

In any case, Princess Margaret was the sister of the Queen and the daughter of a King; Prince Charles is the Queen’s direct heir; Prince William is 2nd in line to the throne...

Prince Harry and his wife do not have the status. End of.

NoTheresa · 03/09/2019 14:10

This is about the last cringeworthy episode of preachiness from someone whom I can only imagine is stupid and insensitive...etc.

NoTheresa · 03/09/2019 14:11

Charles has done that for years

That is absolutely fine.
