It is not about other members of the Royal Family.

Mmm. People don’t start threads about them. Funny.

Harry is a working royal. Why would is his dad allowed to be a hypocrite and not him. Interesting.

LaurieMarlow · 03/09/2019 14:12

That is absolutely fine.

Grin

Yeah. I guess we all know why Wink

Nanamilly · 03/09/2019 14:24

Im very much a fan on Her Majesty and I never thought there would come a day when I believed it was time for the Royal Family to go but Harry and Megans escapades now have me firmly hoping for an end to it all after the Queen dies.

He flies by private jet because he wants his family to be safe?????

That really has stuck in my craw.

It is not about other members of the Royal Family.

Yet the title of the thread is "are the knives out for the royal family", not "are the knives out for Prince Harry?". Though the latter is probably a better reflection of how this thread will pan out...

H&M making you think this and not Andrew? Confused

People’s priorities, I don’t even know where to begin

LaurieMarlow · 03/09/2019 14:27

I don’t think Charles is terribly popular either! But fair point.

Agreed, but I don’t see threads popping up about him with anything like the same regularity on here.

Tbh I don't think anyone would care if they took a private jet every trip as long as they weren't trying to preach to others. This is why no one's mentioned it when other royals have done it. Harry and Meghan have made the mistake of trying to be modern, use Instagram, and carrying a soapbox around with them. That's what makes it cringe.

Baguetteaboutit · 03/09/2019 14:35

I don't think the shit with Andrew is going to go away. With Ghislaine Maxwell now under the microscope I think it's going to keep running and running.

Nanamilly · 03/09/2019 14:37

People’s priorities, I don’t even know where to begin

Then don't. Just save your puff for blowing your porridge instead you havering cuddy.

Userzzzzz · 03/09/2019 14:38

He shouldn’t have launched a sustainable travel initiative now. If he’d been quiet, the whole thing might have blown over but he can’t use the ‘protect my family’ line when William has just got on commercial with the kids and been widely photographed. His PR has been shocking really which makes me wonder if he and Meghan are ignoring advice.

WaggingKnife · 03/09/2019 14:38

I don’t really follow royal stuff but that Instagram post is a piss take. The general public who don’t follow their every move but catch a headline or social media post here and there will not like being preached to by hypocrites.

ChristmasLily · 03/09/2019 14:39

IMO I wouldn't be surprised if H&M were told to make these PR mistakes on purpose so people stop talking about Andrew. Honestly, I think Meghan might be the Queen's favourite, with the way she is taking one for the team like this with her cringe ways (Wimbledon, Vogue, Elton jets, etc). Harry hates the public so he is probably enjoying it all.

BertrandRussell · 03/09/2019 14:41

PresUmably they take advice from their security people about when there is a credible threat? So there wasn’t such a threat to the Cambridges when they flew to Aberdeen?

Baguetteaboutit · 03/09/2019 14:41

I do think that they are all making more noise to water down the scandal around Andrew.

BlankTimes · 03/09/2019 14:44

From Huff Post www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/entry/prince-harry-travalyst-sustainable-travel-collaboration-to-protect-people-places-and-wildlife_uk_5d6e27d1e4b09bbc9ef40ce1?
"It will see him partner with a number of industry service providers such as Booking.com, Ctrip, Skyscanner, TripAdvisor and Visa.
A release from Buckingham Palace said they collectively hope to “find and implement solutions” that will make travel more sustainable – while helping to protect people, places and wildlife.
Driving sustainable practices in local areas, tackling climate change and environmental damage, and alleviating over-tourism are just some of the areas they will focus on."

That's a lot of words with little meaning. how are they going to discuss all these proposals? Facetime or will they all meet in one place?

Travel + catalyst = Travalyst or as soon as any of the people involved are seen to be using private transport to meetings to discuss its impact on everyone else, it'll be interpreted as Trav + A +L(y)ist = travel like an A-lister.

DarkMutterings · 03/09/2019 15:03

Prince Andrew was literally called Airmiles Andy for the number of flights, private jets and helicopters he took. Of course people cared in the past.

I get that the knives are out for H&M and something's that have been said are in very very poor taste but seriously it's not new. Fergie was treated abysmally (in my opinion worse than Meghan given the media and lack of social media then), W&K were bashed for their own house renovations, Diana was simultaneously put on a pedestal and ripped to shreds, Charles was bugged and his private sex conversations on the front page.

It's mind boggling that H&M and their advisors can't work it out by now, learn a few lessons from what happened in the past. All the Royals have to do is promote British interests, support inoffensive charities and general do-goodery in a way that helps but doesn't offend, smile and wave and post a few pictures of themselves and try not to shag inappropriately. It's not bloody hard, everyone would love them and move on to attacking the next celebrity in the list who had failed to live up to expectations.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 03/09/2019 15:03

That’s a whole lot of hot air there.

Literally and figuratively speaking.

Teehee. Best response on this thread so far! 👍🏻

NoTheresa · 03/09/2019 15:11

@ChristmasLily

Oh yeah, that’s bound to be the reason. 🙄

NoTheresa · 03/09/2019 15:14

Princess Charlotte starts school tomorrow, I think. Some good news for once.

sue51 · 03/09/2019 15:19

Just read the huff press piece. Given the bad press and feeling Harry has generated for his use of private jets, I think he's the wrong person to be spearheading a sustainable travel initiative.

ChristmasLily · 03/09/2019 15:28

NoTheresa

Do you not think H&M's misshaps are a PR gift to Andrew? Considering they keep going the same path despite public backlash, I can only assume it's on purpose now. IMO if Andrew was found guilty and Epstein was still alive, that would be the end of the monarchy even if the Queen was still living. Now that Epstein is dead, speculation has been high as well as bad feeling towards the whole system. The royals are not stupid. Didn't Will and Kate go with FlyBe not too long ago? The royals (including H&M) want H&M to look like the bad guys, it's all an orchestrated show.

LondonJax · 03/09/2019 15:58

I said on a Harry thread just now that I'd have more respect for Harry if he'd have launched the Travalyst idea from a satellite link up. That way he'd be showing business people that they don't need to keep travelling - whether it's by car, plane or helicopter - when they have technology at their finger tips.

That way the people travelling are the ones who are actually needing to travel - whether that's holiday, work, volunteering abroad.

Think of the headlines if Harry said 'no, the next conference I speak at, the next idea I launch, I'll do it by satellite'.

Of course he, Meghan, the Cambridges et al sometimes have to travel - that handshake with a president, that photoshoot with endangered species can speak volumes. But launching a new 'product' aimed at stopping destruction of the environment? And Harry flies? Really?

He doesn't help himself. The royals should all be using electric cars now, all be recycling/upcycling clothes and leading the way. Not preaching to others whilst doing exactly the thing themselves.

So are the knives out? Maybe but sometimes it's more than deserved I think. Even if it's just to make them think in future.
