@LondonJax

Excellent post.

Completely agree! Working from home should be something that companies are shamed in to doing for the benefit of the environment.

lavenderandthyme · 03/09/2019 17:29

I don't suppose if Elton's private jet was really really necessary to safeguard Meghan and Archie she considered just staying home or holidaying elsewhere? Of course not. However, we the public are being asked to fly less . I presume our holidays are less important then?

FirstOfHerName · 03/09/2019 17:44

Well you don't have to do exactly as he says @lavenderandthyme...

ChicCroissant · 03/09/2019 17:53

Spectacularly poorly-time announcement from Harry there, perhaps he thought the Brexit hoohah would cover it!

Agree with the comments about Airmiles Andy and Charles has come in for plenty of criticism in his time for various things (Camilla, for one!). It's the preaching about travel while he doesn't stick to it himself which is the problem for Harry.

If this is an initiative of the new American advisers I'm not impressed!

Should one fill the MN Royal Bingo Card it is acceptable to call out “House” provided of course, one pronounces it “Hice”

lavenderandthyme · 03/09/2019 18:05

Do as I say, not as I do.

Iamnotagoddess · 03/09/2019 18:12

H&M either having shockingly bad advisors or they are totally ignoring advice full stop.

lavenderandthyme · 03/09/2019 18:17

It's an absolute car crash

NiceAnd · 03/09/2019 18:21

I don’t like preachy hypocrites whoever they are. 🤷🏻‍♀️

findingmyfeet12 · 03/09/2019 18:33

I don't want any of these unelected and underwhelming individuals preaching to me about anything.

They are all as bad as each other in that none of them has earned their position. An outdated and ridiculous institution.

Kicking myself for not thinking of that Smile
Luckily, I do have diamond encrusted bingo card marker (dibber? Dauber?) whiich makes a discreet little inky coronet over the appropriate square.

And it is by (non) royal appointment to me, I'll have you know!

Nanamilly · 03/09/2019 19:40

Do you not think H&M's misshaps are a PR gift to Andrew?

In my mind Prince Andrew is a separate entity all together. I don't think of the RF when I think of him.

justasking111 · 06/09/2019 12:46

Oh the DM is full of mischief again today. Is Piers Mdorgan pulling some strings do you think. Having lost the news of the world gig. MM and H just cannot win when they pour out this stuff day in and day out.

I do not believe MM is in NYC just for the tennis, will be in a series of meetings with her new PR team. Well hopefully this new team will be able to sort things out so that the RF get some better press.

As I always say on these threads, don't forget that Harry is in the same position as Andrew - the spare to the heir until they produce the next heir, then the spare are expected to toddle off and do something else.

It is good to support a friend, but that is going some distance to do so! It will be interesting to see if anyone can sort their PR out.

EvenPhilip · 07/09/2019 16:51

The only people who can sort out their PR are H&M themselves. No professional organisation could be that crap, they are obviously just not listening because I'm not sure they really care.

Sconesat4 · 09/09/2019 06:36

They need PR people who are British, not American. The RF are a unique institution and they need specialised advice. However, I don’t believe M wants to listen to anything that doesn’t suit her agenda.
Many of the mistakes they’ve made have been so glaringly obvious. A lot of it is common sense. The problem is I really don’t think M has a clue about the requirements of her role really.
I really like Harry. I don’t think he’s thick at all. I think he is empathetic and genuinely caring, with emotional intelligence.
Unfortunately I really don’t think he and Meghan are well suited . She is very pushy and concerned about image. He is more down to earth and genuine, but is in thrall to her. He can’t say no and just goes along with what she wants. She doesn’t understand the system so it’s all backfiring on them. That’s my feeling, but I’m sure I’ll soon be shot down.
It occurred to me that Margaret’s husband wasn’t expected to give up his career and trail around after her. Did she ever actually do much in terms of Royal engagements or was her life just one long exercise in hedonism? Perhaps Meghan should have stayed an actress in the US and Harry should have moved there. He would have had to give up all his Royal privileges and found some meaningful way to spend his time though.
I have also been wondering what William does with his time. Charles set up the Princes Trust and had lots of interests and irons in the fire. By comparison William does very little.
