Aibu to think I am the only person who didn't take out PPI?

With the deadline nearly here and the constant reminders from ads on TV and radio, I feel a slight panic rising that I actually did have it and I'm missing out on thousands. We don't believe we had PPI but made an enquiry as a friend said the same and got some money back but we were told we had no claim. Everyone I know has had some money back. Never had car finance, or loans only mortgage and credit card bit no fees to policies attached. Are there others like us out there ? Have I missed something?

Ugh, I've heard back from Ocean Finance. A really apologetic letter to be fair which agrees that DH was more than likely missold PPI on his loan a few years ago, but although I have complained to Ocean Finance, they are not the same Ocean Finance he took the loan out with - the company split and the part that still exists trades under that name but doesn't offer loans or mortgages, and has no liabilities associated with the other one, which went bust in 2016. So they can't refer me to the correct company as they would usually do because it no longer exists. I know he had PPI because they told him he couldn't take out the loan without it. It's frustrating.

I never take out ppi, but I did submit the proper queries right before the deadline in case it had been added. I'm soooooooooooooooooo glad those adverts will now cease!

I used to deal with Ocean Finance a lot in the 90s. I worked for Nationwide and our fax machine used to get clogged up with non stop credit checks from them. They were prolific.
