AIBU to think this is just fucking insane? Is this how it is going to be from now on? As the parent of a rape victim I feel beyond angry. Is no place safe for women now?

The patriarchy is not kind to sexually abused males.

The patriarchy is not kind to sexually-abused anyones.

I feel for you, and I am sure there are a great many women's rape crisis centre leaders who will be excellent mentors when the first grass-roots centres for raped men are established.

@Dutch1e yup, I think that's why they are so furious, that we just won't capitulate, ever. Even when we appear to go along, we're not really. They underestimated us, we're not going anywhere.

As for male rape, the problem is still men that rape. That's where men who care need to focus their efforts, I'm tired of being lectured about feminism by men who get all of the benefits of patriarchy (and there are millions, and of most of which they are unconscious as evidenced when I said to my friend in an argument 'what do you think about when you park your car in a multistory carpark?' and he said 'eh? where's an empty space?' and every single woman on this thread knows the precise answer to that question!) and it costs them nothing. The entire bloody world is a men only space, I don't walk my dog in the woods on my own, don't go out after dark on my own, fear of rape affects every single choice I make as I navigate this world.

Plus, feminists are the only people who don't believe men are innately like this, they think that it's conditioned, and can be changed, feminism has a hopeful view of men and male sexuality, but at a time when the biggest threat to women is men, then we have to deal with things on a macro not micro scale. It's not about individuals but first principles. women have a right to their own boundaries.

I'm reminded of Greer, women are the only oppressed group who are expected to love their oppressors. 'Administering care to' is kinda the same thing.

So very true, I only highlighted men given my quote. Something needs to change globally, but I'm not holding my breath.
