To re-wash the clothes because I didn't take them out of the washing machine straight away?

Once again, I didn't hear the washing machine cycle finish and the clothes must have been lying there for between 1/2 hour to 1 hour.

I must start setting a timer or buy a decent washing machine with a persistent alarm!

I am now re-washing the clothes before putting them in the dryer. Sick of the creases and I never iron.

Thought it was going to be about 3 days not 1 hour 😆😆 crazy woman.

SirJamesTalbotAndHisSpeculum · 23/08/2019 15:50

You definitely need my tutorial, OP.

None of my washing is ever creased, despite my living in Argyll, where it rains incessantly, and having nowhere to hang clothes outside.

augustagain · 23/08/2019 15:50

It's hard to explain. It's not like I thought they'd smell. It's more like I am annoyed with myself for failing yet again and I want to get something right. So I do it all again and force myself to get the washing out in time next cycle. I don't understand why I am so disorganised.

God ours sits in there for hours sometimes!

viques · 23/08/2019 15:52

my dh wants the dryer

Fair enough, but remind him the dryer comes as a package with the laundry basket and the washing machine. He uses one, he uses them all......

LadyOfTheFlowers · 23/08/2019 15:53

Waste of water, electricity, time, life..... Hmm

Sure that's been pointed out numerous times already.

NoSauce · 23/08/2019 15:53

What a waste of money! Just take it out when you remember, there’s no need to wash them again.

augustagain · 23/08/2019 15:54

Oh, don't get me wrong, my DH does washing and drying and puts it away. Any time. In fact, he was loading the washing into the dryer when I took it all off him and put it back in the machine Blush

If I forget clothes on there and they don't smell like funky mould, job's a good'un

whattodowith · 23/08/2019 15:54

Rewashing if they have been in there for a day and gone stale is fine but doing it after an hour is a major piss take. It’s just a humongous waste of resources.

augustagain · 23/08/2019 15:55

I don't have a life, which is probably patently obvious by now Blush I need to find new goals. That's another thread!

I can't understand what you think you failed at? I regularly put the machine on and leave the stuff until later to dry!

30-60 minutes of the washing sitting there wouldn't even register in my (admittedly quite chaotic) home life. Certainly not a massive failure.

Is this less of a lighthearted thread, and more of an indication of deeper problems you're having?

Alcohollightweight · 23/08/2019 16:08

That is just ridiculous, to re wash everything because you didn’t remove them from the machine straight away.
I regularly have clothes in the machine for an hour or more after the cycle has finished because I’ve got caught up doing something else and forgotten about it.
They never look that creased and I either hang them outside or over the drier inside.I very rarely tumble dry anything.
Washing hung up outside today and brought in dry with very few wrinkles or creases on anything.
By the way ,I’m in Scotland too and haven’t seen a single drop of rain today.

Sayhellotothethings · 23/08/2019 16:09

Why rewash after such a short space of time? It's not like they smell damp from being in there too long.

Life back if you can't be bothered to iron: hair dry yourself whilst your clothes are on. The heat drops the creases out.

I can't remember the last time I ironed anything that wasn't my husband's work shirts.

Ffs I leave it in there for hours before I get it out. It's not failing at anything.

You are probably right. I don't think there is any area of my life that is really working. Perhaps that's why I am hyperfocusing on my washing woes.

What a waste of water and electric. Overnight maybe I can understand but not for a few hours

coconuttelegraph · 23/08/2019 16:18

People don seriously stay in the house to coincide with the washing machine finishing do they?

That's bonkers and even a little sad imo, why would you give any kind of head space to inconsequential stuff like that? Are you a mi!!email by any chance?

woman up and enjoy life and please don't waste the world's resources with such futile practices

I'm in Fife and I love my pulley above the washing machine!

There's always something like this -

I live in jeans and tee shirts and fleeces too. Hence the lack of ironing. I do know people who iron underwear and bedding 🤔

Socksontheradiator · 23/08/2019 16:26

Oh OP I'm catching up again! Have a hug and a cyber cuppa and hobnob.
Research has shown that many women tend to focus on laundry/cleaning cupboards when they are stressed x

augustagain · 23/08/2019 16:36

Thanks, Socks Oooh that's an interesting point. I never used to give a toss about this stuff but the last year or so it's really stepped up. Along with other things. Hmm.
