Didn’t realise it was booze free though.

It isn’t. They don’t have a fully stocked bar but they sell bottles of beer, and wine too I think.

megletthesecond · 22/08/2019 00:31

Halloumi sticks with chilli jam.

Better for gluten free veggies than some places (wagamamas I'm looking at you).
Endless soft drinks so at least the dc's come out hydrated.

We don't go that often but it's quick and there's something for all of us.

19lottie82 · 22/08/2019 00:31

I love a Nandos. Chicken thighs or a sunset burger. Mmmmmm 😋

megletthesecond · 22/08/2019 00:33

Oh, and really good with allergies. They insist on double checking every time we go.

skybluee · 22/08/2019 00:34

Funnily enough tonight I had chicken and vegetable soup with toast and salad and I used the nandos medium peri peri sauce! Trying to recreate it at home maybe!

Benefitofthedoubt · 22/08/2019 00:37

I’ve had kfc once and vomited. Have only been in a Nando’s once to buy a gift card for someone who requested it.

I didn’t know you had to queue for food??? How bizarre!

I went to Nano’s once
It was total shite
Just an opinion

Pancakeflipper · 22/08/2019 00:41

You can get waiter service at our nearest one... Never had to queue.

Jimjamjooney · 22/08/2019 00:46

I love nandos. Every time I've been the chicken has been juicy and well flavoured even before adding sauce. I love the peri salted chips but the sweet potato wedges are even more heavenly.

For those saying it's just chicken and chips, there's old ty of sides? Those complaining about cost and the fact it's not a full meal: you can get a quarter chicken and 2 sides for under 8 quid (Can go half chicken for 11), how much food do you want??

Those saying it's bland, what slice do you order? I refuse to believe anyone having it hotter than medium can call it bland Grin

Jimjamjooney · 22/08/2019 00:46

That should read plenty of sides

Clana4ever · 22/08/2019 00:49

"You might be interested to know the kitchens are just for show - all the chickens are pre cooked at a central kitchen"

The chicken comes in raw, it is cooked on the premises. The idea that it is cooked 'at a central kitchen' is hilarious and wouldn't be at all pragmatic. What's funnier is how you come across so confidant whilst talking absolutely bull####. Silly silly billy.

Jimjamjooney · 22/08/2019 00:49

Benefitofthedoubt it's like a pub. Get a table, order at the bar, they bring your food over. You may need to queue to order but that's it.

Gingerkittykat · 22/08/2019 01:50

I like the food but the local one is queued out of the door half the time.

A favourite family meal is now home made nandos, chicken with peri sauce, chips with peri salt or home made dirty rice and salad or corn on the cob.

fortheloveofPete · 22/08/2019 05:49

I've been once.

Dry food, nothing Portuguese about it (apart from the bread rolls which I remember from school, and I wasn't bothered about them then), ordering bit is a faff...in fact...the whole bloody experience is a faff with dry disappointment at the end of it.

Rather go hungry than eat there again.

mrssoap · 22/08/2019 06:57

I like Nando's, don't like Mac Donald's and no overly keen on kfc or weatherspoons either. Weatherspoons seems to be really popular but I think the food is rubbish

Treem · 22/08/2019 06:58

I like it. It's a fast food restaurant but a slight step up from McDonald's/burger king/KFC. I like ordering food and paying at the bar as it means you can get away at the end without faffing around with the bill and if you go with friends there is no splitting the bill awkwardness.

Each to their own. Where do you like to eat OP?

Jazzybeats · 22/08/2019 07:03

Used to be a lot better a few years back. Now been cost cut to death... I occasionally fancy it but am always let down.

Bravelurker · 22/08/2019 07:08

To me it's the most blandest food ever with the one of the most overrated bottles of sauce. I'll never understand its popularity. Even worse when we have a staff night out situation and we are all starving and there's the biggest queue you have ever seen outside. Why just why?

LaurieMarlow · 22/08/2019 07:09

I love it.

It’s the cheap and cheerful option. Similar to somewhere like Pizza Express.

I wouldn’t darken the door of KFC, McDonalds and the like.

The ordering system is sensible, the range of sides are more interesting than elsewhere (love the macho peas), portions sizes are just right (not too large), great for kids. It’s also somewhere in the UK where all cultures and classes seem to feel comfortable.

And it does serve booze. Major selling point.

Toomanycats99 · 22/08/2019 07:14

@Dieu

A friends son works there and he has had a good experience with them. Decent pay and great development opportunities

MaybeitsMaybelline · 22/08/2019 07:18

I quite like the fact that you can have fairly fast food and try to keep it reasonably healthy. Butterfly chicken, skin off, undressed salad, macho peas.

I think it appeals because it’s inbetween a fast food place like KFC and a restaurant. I am not sure what other places fall 8not that hybrid.

It’s very much a place for the younger generations.

LaurieMarlow · 22/08/2019 07:22

Exactly. They serve things that resemble actual vegetables.

That’s why I love taking the kids there. Chicken, sweet corn, sweet potato wedges is a decent meal that they really enjoy.

BlueSkiesLies · 22/08/2019 07:23

It’s tasty. It’s pretty cheap. It suits groups so you can all order what you want and pay for what you had.

ourkidmolly · 22/08/2019 07:24

@Clana4ever
The poster is correct. The chicken is finished off in the kitchen on the griddle but is precooked elsewhere. That's why it's extremely unlikely that the person complaining of raw chicken is correct. The rice and mash also precooked. Chips are cooked from frozen. I like Nando's.
