I've tried

Lucifer- didn't like it
Stranger Things - loved it
Handmaid's tale - amazing
The Good Place - probably love it too much
Poldark - Aiden Turner is my perfect man, so may be biased, but so good
Being Human - see above
Shameless - lol
House - one of my favourites and one I go back to
GOT - the ending though?
The Kominsky Method - very well done
The OA - amazing
That one with Richard Gere - pah, dragged out

I'm sure there's tons more, but I need some inspiration. I do like a bit of action and drama.

For AIBU purposes, AIBU to ask for inspiration (here for the traffic as I want to start now).

I got back into Homeland recently and I’m absolutely loving it.
I started watching The Sinner on Netflix and had to stop because of The Big Thing at the beginning of the first episode, then started it again the other week and I’ve binged watched the whole thing.
Mindhunter is AMAZING.
GOOD OMENS!
Outlander is wonderful. I read the blurb and it was so ridiculous I watched it under duress then was hooked.
Life In Pieces is hilarious.

user1473878824 · 21/08/2019 21:37

Oh and Deep Water - it was sort of shit and clunky and unbelievable in every single way but I also loved it.

YouTheCat · 21/08/2019 21:38

Oh yeah - Good Omens is absolutely brilliant.

Thevoice2019 · 21/08/2019 21:43

Gracie300 · 21/08/2019 22:33

CHERNOBYL!

NationMcKinley · 21/08/2019 22:45

Hanna on amazon prime is good. A bit Villanelle - the teenage years

BaggyPantsDance · 21/08/2019 22:53

Mindhunters on Netflix is fantastic. I've finished the second season and have now bought the book. Very interesting.

Chernobyl on sky is also brilliant. Not my usual cup of tea but really enjoyed it.

Black mirror if you like kind of odd, sometimes dark stories.

Haunting of Hill House was another I loved.

Some seasons of American Horror Story. Some are great, others are hit and miss for me but worth giving it a go and seeing if you like any of them (no need to watch the seasons in order).

CleverLoginName · 21/08/2019 23:04

Manifest is good. Just started watching it

CuntyMcBollocks · 21/08/2019 23:12

Dark on Netflix is one of the best things I've ever watched.

WatcherOfTheNight · 21/08/2019 23:31

@PlaceYourItemInTheBaggingArea
Did you say you like Sci-fi?
Altered Carbon is really good, also fringe .

Nightshift & code black are good Medical dramas.

MorganKitten · 21/08/2019 23:51

Glow

penguingorl · 21/08/2019 23:57

I'm shocked that only 3 people have mentioned Dark (on Netflix) I also rate it as one of the best things I've ever seen (and I'm mid 40s!) The only thing that might put you off is that it's in german, so unless you speak the language you will need subtitles or dubbing, which people seem to hate but I soon got used to!
And how has no-one mentioned Criminal Minds?! Or Alias! Grin

avamiah · 22/08/2019 00:08

I watch All 4 ( down load it ) , the World Drama series are just amazing , they have subtitles but after the first 10 mins you forget that .
I would recommend Professor T , Locked Up and Vanished by the lake .

RaymondReddingtonMrs · 22/08/2019 00:08

The Blacklist
Tin Star
Dexter
Six feet under

RaymondReddingtonMrs · 22/08/2019 00:10

Meant to add:

Peaky blinders
Greys anatomy
The sopranos
Big little lies
Line of duty

avamiah · 22/08/2019 00:15

Also I just watched the Widower on iPlayer, which was really good and based on a true story .
3 episodes and once you have watched the first one your hooked .haha

Darcydog · 22/08/2019 00:16

Line of Duty
Life on Mars
Ashes to Ashes
Happy Valley
Unforgotten
Unforgiven
Doctor Foster
Hinterland
Inspector George Gently

Anyone got any tips for finding stuff on Netflix or prime? Unless I actively search it's the same "recommendations" that come up constantly, I do wish they would give the option of seeing their full catalogue in like alphabetical order!

Anyway, now that's off my chest!

My top recommendations are usually

Lie to me
White collar
Bones
The good place
House
The good wife
Gilmore girls

Charmed I love so much I've bought it so I can watch as much as I like

Can't believe nobody has said

Scandal - which I was trying to rewatch and then it disappeared from prime

How to get away with murder is BRILLIANT! Viola Davis is INCREDIBLE in it as a deeply flawed but utterly compelling character.

The Americans is on my prime watchlist, I was thoroughly enjoying on terrestrial tv till sky nicked it! Looking forward to catching up on it.

If you like sci fi/fantasy I enjoyed

Fringe
Timeless
Travellers

Others I've enjoyed include

Bodyguard

Mindhunter - I'm looking forward to season 2 it's been SO long coming but it requires/deserves concentration and my health means I have to time it right.

New Amsterdam I've just watched, enjoyable enough but tries too hard to pull on heart strings at times and that makes it less effective

This is us is FAR better as a cathartic viewing experience with more rounded characters. Can't wait for new series but previous on prime now

The mentalist - currently rewatching not as compelling as I remembered but watchable enough especially as I love Simon baker.

Lucifer - I was late to the party but all caught up now and enjoyed it, sadly final season coming.

Ones I've struggled with/don't want to watch include

Breaking bad - personal objections due to family issues with addiction
Bosch - I should like it, people who know/share my tastes keep recommending but I just can't get into it
Luther - AWFUL acting AND writing I really don't see the appeal of idris AT ALL and I couldn't make it past the 2nd episode without it just plain annoying me!
Absentia I WANT to love as I love stana Katic but I'm struggling.
Mad men - nah!
Oitnb - repetitive and poorly written

Alicewond · 22/08/2019 01:43

Too many, stop being so lazy :)

Greeborising · 22/08/2019 01:46

Fuck you watch a lot of telly!
I’d suggest
Deep Water
Killing Eve (der)
Gentlemen Jack (beyond)
Big Little Lies
Mum
I’d also suggest that you get out of the house more

Mummyshark2019 · 22/08/2019 01:50

Big Little Lies
