The knives are out for the royal family

It may be deserved in some cases, however it would seem the gloves are off as far as the media are concerned. They have lived high on the hog for centuries so what is new?

Am scratching my head here is it shoot the royal family season or a smoke and mirrors exercise designed to distract us from something more important??

I would hate to be in the PR business with the RF just now.

Like what? This is completely how I see her public appearances:

Anyone who plays tennis can tell you that RF has not given George tennis lessons. George is very young and will be playing with big, soft red balls on a mini court with a qualified coach feeding balls in and correcting his technique and foot work. RF will have spent 5 minutes hitting a few balls with him so he can take a nice video. George would benefit more from practising with a 16 year old with a level one coaching qualification than he would with RF.

Meanwhile Randy Andy hangs out with all kinds of undesirables and has amassed a huge fortune from goodness knows where. Him and Fergie's home at Sunninghill was built on green belt because of their special circumstances as there was nowhere else suitable for them to live. So when the lodge renovated at taxpayer expense at a cost of £5m became "suitable" why were they allowed to sell it? It should have been knocked down.

What a weird comment joyfullittlehippo. All I’m asking is to Identify a time she’s been in priceless couture. If it happens all the time it would be easy enough.
Not including her wedding dresses of course. Although that’s not priceless. No dress is unless it’s made from priceless materials. It’s not the Crown Jewels 🤣

SheStoopsToConker · 21/08/2019 09:27

@Passthecherrycoke Some of the brands in that link are hardly high street! Bespoke McQueen or Jenny Packham don't come cheap, nor do the D&G or Gucci pieces she's favoured lately.

Imo the media is trying to push a narrative of: “Ugh those minor royals think they can do whatever they like.” This has the dual purpose of downplaying Andrew’s crimes, and protecting the more senior royals

I don’t think this is the media’s fault. I think this is purposeful strategy by the RF press office (I know there are several, so this would be from Charles’ and now William). Harry has always been thrown under the bus to protect William.

That said, I think the furor is well deserved, and I hope more celebs get called out for their hypocrisy.

Kate in bespoke McQueen, Dolce and Gabbana and Gucci in the space of a week.

Have a look at this for starters.

I know Kate loves Alexander McQueen but I hadn’t realise how prolific he is in her wardrobe.

Passthecherrycoke · 21/08/2019 09:34

There is one dress in that link that specifies it was made for her. And you don’t even know if she paid for that.

Jenny packham, McQueen etc are designers. They’re not priceless

SheStoopsToConker · 21/08/2019 09:35

@LaurieMarlow it's the green McQueen coats for St Patrick's Day that I don't get - she has a new one almost every year and they're almost identical!

Passthecherrycoke · 21/08/2019 09:36

@LaurieMarlow apart from the bottom 2 packhams in the link above I know the others aren’t couture. They were collection items

SheStoopsToConker · 21/08/2019 09:37

But I thought the royals getting freebies was a Bad Thing?

RonnieScotts · 21/08/2019 09:40

H&M travel by private jet less often than any of them

Can you back that statement up with facts?

LaurieMarlow · 21/08/2019 09:40

Jenny packham, McQueen etc are designers. They’re not priceless

They’ll mostly cost high 4 figures. Plus the couture stuff which is more expensive and not declared.

Kate spends a fuck tonne on clothes is my point.

Are you denying this?

justasking111 · 21/08/2019 09:40

Wasn't there something off about the sale of Sunninghill with the buyer paying over the odds for it then demolition took place

It is when it’s Meghan.

Not the others.

Do keep up dear Grin

Passthecherrycoke · 21/08/2019 09:44

Actually I’ve re- read and I think it’s just that you’ve misunderstood what couture is Laurie, as your post:

“Kate owns lots of couture frocks that are so expensive there’s no list price. She has many couture coats.”

There is obviously never a list price for couture, that’s the whole point. I think you just mean she wears expensive designers clothes, which of course she does

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 21/08/2019 09:45

What Kate wears is ready-to wear, there's no real couture there, certainly nothing like Dior of R&R.

RTW is altered to fit the wearer, hence called bespoke, but it's not especially created for them, as couture is and a one off, and it's much lower in cost as a result. Most of Kate's clothes can be bought by anyone. That's the real difference.

Is Kate's wardrobe extensive and expensive? Yes, but there are no real statement couture pieces there. Of course I'm not familiar with what she has stashed at home, but from what I see in the links above, there are no super expensive bits there.

Apart from her wedding dress, but that's a different story.

LaurieMarlow · 21/08/2019 09:50

Okay, bespoke is a more applicable word then. I’ll consider myself educated.

My point is still that she spends a fuck tonne on clothes.

Passthecherrycoke · 21/08/2019 09:51

Exactly, the couture market is pretty non existant nowadays as people just don’t pay for it. Apart from those with Arabian oil money of course.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 21/08/2019 09:59

She does, but it's not top range in your face couture and she's been married to William for a long time now.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 21/08/2019 10:00

Sorry with the being married for a long time I don't mean she deserves it because she's served a long time but that clothes accumulate over time.
