The knives are out for the royal family

It may be deserved in some cases, however it would seem the gloves are off as far as the media are concerned. They have lived high on the hog for centuries so what is new?

Am scratching my head here is it shoot the royal family season or a smoke and mirrors exercise designed to distract us from something more important??

I would hate to be in the PR business with the RF just now.

There is no such thing as couture that isn’t top range in your face, Chardonnay

AllBellsNoWhistles · 21/08/2019 10:03

Imagine if the royals did step down and they ended up in council accommodation on Hell Close like in the Sue Townend book ' The Queen and I ' 😂

I still want to know how Prince Phillip knows what a French tarts boudoir looks like. 😄

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 21/08/2019 10:04

Not really, some pieces are just all made and can be worn for years, you only know it's couture from the techniques used and the way clothes hang and so on.

Others are that and obviously over the top, design wise.

Passthecherrycoke · 21/08/2019 10:06

Oh sorry I thought you meant too range as in price rather than design. I agree she’s not an outlandish Versace type Grin

SheStoopsToConker · 21/08/2019 10:07

I don't think any of the royals would wear Versace - far too flashy!!

noodlenosefraggle · 21/08/2019 10:08

They are 'takers' who do exactly as they please.
That is the definition of the Royal Family! I bet the RF are delighted that people are talking about this instead of Andrew. If he didn't know about Epstein, it's because he didn't want to know or because he didn't care enough to know.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 21/08/2019 10:10

And thank the Lord for that. Grin

It would make for good photos though, and it would certainly keep us busy talking.

NotJustACigar · 21/08/2019 10:11

I think the royals compare themselves to their wealthy toff friends and resent having to actually do a bit of work for a living. Whereas we compare them to the average person and think they don't do nearly enough to earn their keep!

MissEliza · 21/08/2019 10:14

I've read plenty of criticism over the years about royals accepting hospitality, particularly hospitality from celebrities and billionaires. No one thinks twice about such criticism of other royals but for some reason, H and M are deemed to be above it.
Actually I don't give a crap about freebies from Elton John but I do care about the hypocrisy in using private jets. There has been plenty of things in recent years about other royals using helicopters and private jets, but it seems to fall on deaf ears. It's an appalling waste of money and bad for the environment . I'm sure I read that Andrew travelled to Aberdeen last week in a private jet. He's such an arrogant prick.

cakeisalwaystheanswer · 21/08/2019 10:20

There are people on this thread desperately trying to focus the argument on H&M by constantly defending them when they've not been attacked, or attacking W&K in comparison. It is starting to look like a co-ordinated plan to get the thread deleted. I see the York family PR people at work here.

Someone criticises the Yorks. Reply, how dare you say that about MM - that's racist. Thread deleted.

M&H are just silly hypocrites but the Yorks are involved in a lot of murky stuff and need to be investigated.

MangoFeverDream · 21/08/2019 10:21

They could always renounce their claim and step out of public life 🤷‍♀️

Hithere12 · 21/08/2019 10:24

They’ve just hired their third nanny in less than a year, after the other two left 🙄 why would TWO nannies run away from one of the most prestigious nanny jobs in the world? I’m guessing they aren’t nice to work for.

SheStoopsToConker · 21/08/2019 10:33

Or maybe they weren't keen on the nanny? How many times are people on MN told that they need to be 100% happy with who they choose to care for their children?

SheStoopsToConker · 21/08/2019 10:34

Or maybe the nanny story is like the one about their list of demands, that people were all too keen to believe Hmm

Hithere12 · 21/08/2019 10:36

This isn’t a new thing for them. They’ve had hoards of staff leave very quickly after joining. As anyone who’s worked in recruitment knows people either leave their job for more money or because they hate their boss.

LaurieMarlow · 21/08/2019 10:38

They’ve had hoards of staff leave very quickly after joining.

Those stories were all horseshit, the people in question were leaving anyway.

SheStoopsToConker · 21/08/2019 10:38

The Mail made a big deal about their first private secretary leaving but it turned out she only agreed to stay 6 months anyway.

LaurieMarlow · 21/08/2019 10:39

How many times are people on MN told that they need to be 100% happy with who they choose to care for their children?

So this is fine for regular people.

If it’s Meghan though, she needs to suck it the fuck up.

Badabingbadabum · 21/08/2019 10:43

I like the Royal Family, I like Harry and Meghan and think the way the press report her is awful. However, everyone is outraged about them taking a private jet, rather than wanting more information on Andrew and Epstein.

Pamplemousecat · 21/08/2019 10:50

Oh ffs . Jessica Mulroney now saying that our upset at Meghan and Harry’s “Eco fuck up killimg the planet, one jet at a time” is driven by racism. Seriously fuck off. Stop trying to silence the plebs with your insulting, ill founded accusations. They need to stop their blabber mouth besties ranting on on their behalf. It is literally making people despise the pair of them more. Harry is just as annoying as Meghan for the same reasons. Not because of his race. Not because of hers. Because they are spoilt, obtuse, entitled fuckers who need to pipe down or practice what they preach.

Hithere12 · 21/08/2019 10:53

People who lecture on the environment than do the opposite are actually WAY more damaging to the cause than if they just said nothing at all.

It gives others permission to do naff all in changing their behaviour and still claim they care.

Jillyhilly · 21/08/2019 11:13

As anyone who’s worked in recruitment knows people either leave their job for more money or because they hate their boss.

What a bizarre statement. I’ve worked in recruitment for years. There are literally hundreds of reasons why people leave their jobs.

Hithere12 · 21/08/2019 11:14

😂 I don’t believe you. Sorry. 90% of the time it’s either of those reasons.

LaurieMarlow · 21/08/2019 11:14

People who lecture on the environment than do the opposite are actually WAY more damaging to the cause than if they just said nothing at all

I don’t disagree with this, but I’m struggling to think of anyone high profile who doesn’t have a large carbon footprint.

Apart from Greta.

MissEliza · 21/08/2019 11:16

I think one nanny was a night nurse to help in the early days.
