The knives are out for the royal family

It may be deserved in some cases, however it would seem the gloves are off as far as the media are concerned. They have lived high on the hog for centuries so what is new?

Am scratching my head here is it shoot the royal family season or a smoke and mirrors exercise designed to distract us from something more important??

I would hate to be in the PR business with the RF just now.

Also Ellen’s tweet about how they’re the most “down to earth, compassionate people” oh please Ellen you are an A list celeb. Of course they are nice to you. Tell that to the staff that can’t stand it for more than a few months at a time.

Passthecherrycoke · 20/08/2019 00:36

Thats interesting toomanypaws

It always seems so strange that he’s liz’s favourite when he’s such a clear wanker. You wouldn’t expect him to be Phillips speed either although I suspect all his sons disappointed Phil a bit 🤣

I agree re Edward although think Sophie has quietly been the making of him

Hithere12 · 20/08/2019 00:36

I live in a northern working class city where Harry recently opened a new wing of our children’s hospital, then he went to visit one of our unis where the culmination of 50 years work mean amputees can control their false limbs using their mind and its electronic impulses like a real limb. Not very glamorous but both incredibly important and worthy

Meghan didn’t bother turning up which was noticed and commented on by many, many people up here. It wasn’t lost on us that she turns up to watch Serena at Wimbledon or Beyoncé and Jay-Z at a premiere

This is actually really sad. Not surprising at all though.

Notmyrealname855 · 20/08/2019 00:46

Hithere12 I hadn’t heard that either. I do have a friend who was expecting Harry at a service for the Marines the other month but they were told he was too busy... he turned up to the Lion King premiere the same week so...

Anyway I have no idea how Andrew is the Queen’s favourite.

Such an odd family. Do you see the other siblings hang out together much, or hang out with Andrew much? His statement today was not very comforting.

Wonder why the press are poking at Mountbatten now in particular. Is there a time period that’s expiring?

Doyoureallyneedtoask · 20/08/2019 01:02

There was a large poll which came out yesterday that she’s liked by 49% of public? So that’s less than half?

Jesus. I can only imagine the type of toad people who would click on a poll to vote for whether they like Meghan or not. Who on earth would give a toss what such toads like or dislike except for toads like themselves.

QualCheckBot · 20/08/2019 01:03

I assume the DM are only printing this stuff about Andrew because they know it is based on fact and they have done their research and are not afraid of the prospect of being sued. Andrew's royal spokesperson is admitting that he has been in the company of Epstein at various parties.

What really shocked me is that Epstein stayed on the Balmoral Estate during the Queen's usual August visit and then was invited to the big multi-royal birthday party soon after, according to the DM.

Just how does the RF keep making such awful headlines with quite so much taxpayers' money spent on PR, advisors, etc?

QualCheckBot · 20/08/2019 01:04

My guess is that the usual threats to sue are not working, because the DM knows (a) theres more important stuff to the Royals right now and (b) they are confident enough of their sources (court depositions, etc) to publish and be damned.

Hithere12 · 20/08/2019 01:10

😂 calm down it was a survey on all the royals.

Anyone who doesn’t like that narcissistic wannabe A lister is a “toad” Grin

Hithere12 · 20/08/2019 01:13

It’s not lost of me that the first time it’s Meghan AND Harry being criticised (& not just Meghan) Harry has rung up his celeb mates to defend them.

Meghan is criticised on a near daily basis yet it’s only when he’s being criticised too he asks others to step in? (There is absolutely no way Elton John or even Ellen would have sent those tweets w/o getting their permission). I find that very telling.

GrimDamnFanjo · 20/08/2019 01:22

The fergie and Andy rekindling is timely isn't it?

BigChocFrenzy · 20/08/2019 01:31

"Trump looked at PA as if he was shit under his shoe. I know why now."

@Derxa Trump was a friend of Epstein's and even defended him after his 1st conviction

Trump himself has a dreadful record of behviour towards young women he has power over, e.g. on his TV shows
His ex-wife and others have accused him of rape
"Grab them by the pussy" in Trump's own words, summing up his attitude

Trump was pissed off because PA is only minor royalty, number xx in line of succession and he wanted PW or PH.

Trump had great plans for his Uk visit, said he wanted his kids and PW & PH to become friends,
because he fantasises his own dynasty in US politics staying friends with the UK dynasty
leading the 2 countries together in glorious partnership 🤮

Hithere12 · 20/08/2019 01:49

“Every choice, every footprint, every action makes a difference“ - quote from Harry on Instagram.

Also Brad Pitt doesn’t take private Jetts, tonnes of A listers fly first class, why can’t they?

BigChocFrenzy · 20/08/2019 01:51

PA associating with a convicted sex offender - unforgiveable & deserves all the bad press he gets

PH & M - Rich, hypocritical, no idea about problems ordinary people face
Yes, but that describes every damn member of the RF !
No comparison to befriending a sex offender

Before he met M, Harry had some deservedly bad press about a few incidents, but it was a tiny amount compared to the massive fawning coverage he got the rest of the time,
especially after he joined the military

Since his engagement, he's become RF Public Enemy #2, after the #1 M

The estrangement with PW is not because of M, but because of his disapproval of the affair, knowing devastated Diana was by PC's affair.

redtoothbrush was right:
it's about the culture / politics war and the rightwing have decided the RF, especially PH & M, are on the other side

Farage's outburst against the RF expressed the fury of the right
Murdoch has always been very anti-RF too - they don't fawn over him like PMs of both parties have done

BigChocFrenzy · 20/08/2019 01:53

and of course longterm republicans on the left are gleefully joining in

Hithere12 · 20/08/2019 01:56

No it isn’t 😂 Meghan made Kate cry she was so horrendous during the bridesmaids fitting. The palace have not denied this, and they denied that MM was rude to Kate’s staff so if it weren’t true they’d have denied it.

William nearly strangled himself with his scarf to avoid looking at her. Harry has gone from being their neighbours to moving miles away it’s so bad.

BigChocFrenzy · 20/08/2019 02:00

The RF may well not continue for long, once QEII dies

PW might even decide he can't stand the hassle and bugger off with his family
He's never seemed particularly keen to be king

PH wouldn't want the job, for the same reason
Only PC is desperate to be King - he'd hang on like grim death

BigChocFrenzy · 20/08/2019 02:01

Nope, it's the affair

Doyoureallyneedtoask · 20/08/2019 02:04

Hang on here a second. I can't figure out if you're being tongue in cheek but assuming you are not - firstly Kate apparently cried during the dress fitting at the sight of Charlotte dressed up. Remember Kate had just had a baby. The palace rarely confirm or deny anything because if they did so, they are leaving themselves open to being questioned about everything. It would be relentless trying to deny the many many ridiculous rumours that circulate weekly. I've never even read about Meghan being rude to Kate's staff or vice versa. I have read that Meghan is deemed inappropriate for saying 'thank you 'to staff when she obviously hadn't yet learned that mere mortals were supposed to be grateful to serve the blue bloods.

Now I don't know if all or any of this is true but I strongly suspect from the way you have written that you are repeating particles of gossip from various websites that coincide with your beliefs that Meghan is the devil himself.

BigChocFrenzy · 20/08/2019 02:05

The "palace" will always support the direct line to the throne, distract, distract and point at anyone else

PC had an infamous affair and his popularity never recovered

A 2nd king tainted like this would be very damaging to the future of the RF

Two wives not getting on doesn't remotely do the kind of damage in a family that an affair does

BigChocFrenzy · 20/08/2019 02:12

Americans can seem rude, even to staff in shops
They don't seem to say "please" when they order something, just "Give me"

I've observed this with US family, who are very nice, but it's just how they normally behave

Some - not all - of M's unpopularity is because she behaves 100% like an American
Confident, brash, not at all apologetic for being rich

The culture is very different to ours, despite the common language
We clashed a lot with US family whenever we spent a few weeks together
Many thing jar

Puzzledandpissedoff · 20/08/2019 02:12

Apparently it's almost exactly 40 years since the IRA murdered Mountbatten … but whether that number has any legal significance in terms of what's revealed I honestly don't know

NeelixFelicis · 20/08/2019 02:40

PH & MM preaching about the importance of reducing our carbon footprint Grin

That's on a par with a lecture on the sanctity of marriage from Hugh Hefner. or Prince Charles

user1497863568 · 20/08/2019 02:46

Crimes... terrible crimes... they aren't even British.. bunch of Germans.

TooManyPaws · 20/08/2019 03:14

It's been said for years that Anne is his favourite, so, yes!

There have been mutterings going on about Mountbatten for years, the least that he had an open marriage or was asexual, given his wife's very obvious and well-known affairs, including Nehru when Vicereine. However, there were also mutterings that he was veh veh close to his royal cousins, including David and other chaps while on royal tour. At least they weren't underage from what is public at the moment...
