The knives are out for the royal family

It may be deserved in some cases, however it would seem the gloves are off as far as the media are concerned. They have lived high on the hog for centuries so what is new?

Am scratching my head here is it shoot the royal family season or a smoke and mirrors exercise designed to distract us from something more important??

I would hate to be in the PR business with the RF just now.

Is it just me or is the Elton John defensive making the situation even worse. H and M are a laughing stock, it's hilarious . Andrew is in very dodgy water too albeit much more serious than private jets. Off with their heads.

Toooldnowx · 19/08/2019 23:34

I'm a British person and I certainly don't think Meghan is dismmisive of me or have a high handed approach towards me. Why would anyone think that is beyond me.

Sure, I get that you think she doesn't know her place and she is an uppity brownish skin person who should know her place and kowtow to any random British person who expects her to bow to their negative views and to jump when they say jump.

Serioysly, go and do something productive with your lives and leave these people alone. The silent majority also pay taxes towards their upkeep. Not just the loud whingers. Of the Royals, Meghan and Harry are probably the most well-behaved.

Toooldnowx · 19/08/2019 23:36

Harry and Meghan are a laughing stock to whom? The minority of haters? The Commonwealth loves them and the majority of Brits think the haters are a laughing stock especially as Harry and Meghan continue to ignore their hateful nonsense.

There was a large poll which came out yesterday that she’s liked by 49% of public? So that’s less than half?

SheStoopsToConker · 19/08/2019 23:41

I don't think Harry has any academic smarts and he needs to stop banging on about climate change if he isn't going to walk the walk, but it isn't like he's achieved nothing at all. The Invictus Games and his HIV charity Sentebale are initiatives to be proud of.

Toooldnowx · 19/08/2019 23:43

Which of the Royals have academic smarts? William? Kate? Let's talk about their academic achievements then.

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 19/08/2019 23:43

The media have been insulting the royal family for as long as I can remember. It sells papers. What's new is the opportunity for random people to share their opinions publicly via social media.

For some reason things get a bit hysterical whenever MM is mentioned.

Toooldnowx · 19/08/2019 23:47

49% would have margins of error either side. That 49% is unlikely to be statistically different from 50%.in any case, I could run a poll tomorrow and get a different result especially if you segment the population by educational attainment for instance. I'm sure the poll result would be hugely different amongst educated people, especially those who have busy lives with no time to spend whinging about people they don't know. Grin

I’m not into the Royals but isn’t this basic stuff? Kate & William met at St Andrews, one of the bus Universities in the country, they got A’s/B’s at A Level.

Harry barely passed his A Levels despite having THE best education money can buy. If he went to a regular comp I doubt he’d have gotten one GCSE. And we’re meant to worship these people?

Wildorchidz · 19/08/2019 23:48

The situation with the Duke of York re Epstein eclipses everything else.

Pamplemousecat · 19/08/2019 23:50

@Toooldnowx I think you’re slightly up a gum tree dear.

Toooldnowx · 19/08/2019 23:56

I just can't conjure up any strong like or dislike for the Royals. I have better things to do. I'm fascinated by the hyper belly aching about Meghan and the exaggerated lies and twisting of things. It really is something worth an academic study. The hatred is illogical. They hate her but can't resist following everything she is doing or not doing.

Deep down I'm a Republican and won't be unhappy to see the end of the monarchy but this insane dislike of Meghan is a joke. I am certain there will eventually be a backlash against it. It is bullying, irrational nonsense fuelled by some tabloids who want to make money. An article about Meghan gets them thousands of comments and many more thousands of clicks. One on William or Kate typically get a few hundred comments. It doesn't take much to see why the media is keen on leading the haters like sheep all over the fields. The haters are the laughing stock, being played like a fiddle. But people are fed up with this nonsense. I know I am, hence why I've bothered to respond to this thread. Ordinarily I'd have just looked and moved on.

PositiveVibez · 19/08/2019 23:56

I kind of agree OP. They have ALWAYS been an epitome of hypocrisy, but the criticism seems to have been turned up a bitch and I'm glad.

People are finally sitting up and asking them to be accountable.

It's all too antiquated now and they need to go.

I am a staunch republican, and have always said I have nothing against them as individuals, but there more recent (last decade or so) vulgar displays of wealth have honestly sickened me.

I think Meghan has been treated appallingly by the press, for no other reason than the fact she has a black mother.

It's disgusting.

Winterlife · 19/08/2019 23:57

the Commonwealth loves them

Not this member of the Commonwealth.

To be fair, I don't hate them either.

PositiveVibez · 19/08/2019 23:57

*a bit not a bitch lol

Toooldnowx · 19/08/2019 23:57

Hithere12, I think you'll find those grades you've given to them are far, very far, from the truth.

PositiveVibez · 19/08/2019 23:58
  • their, not there. Jeez ☺️
Toooldnowx · 20/08/2019 00:00

William only took 3 A levels and got at least one C as I recall in something like Art. Nothing to write home about.

Toooldnowx · 20/08/2019 00:03

Happy to be up a gumtree as long as I am not consumed by jealousy and hate for someone I don't know and who doesn't know me.

May Meghan and Harry continue as they are and not give two hoots about the whinging class, some of whom hate her because of her heritage. What's done is done. She's married to Harry. Long may it continue. Amen!

ginghambox · 20/08/2019 00:05

Toooldnowx Don't know where you copied that from. But they ain't stupid.

Sarcelle · 20/08/2019 00:10

Ellen DeGeneres has now tweeted a supporting statement on H & M. In a similar Sycophantic vein as Elt's.

Let's face it, if we had their lives with all the money, privileges, flunkies we would be living life to the full too. They are all at it. The difference is that H & M have set themselves up as beacons of change, positivity, do the right thing. Their lecturing on climate change has exposed them as being rank hypocrites and well, a bit thick. Did they think we would not notice their wastefulness and scant regard for the environment? We are not living in medieval times, we make up our own minds. Even if the media is overdoing it (looking at you Piers Morgan) they have left the goal wide open for everybody to have a shot. Even if you thought H & M were a refreshing change for the RF you must feel a bit let down or bemused by their recent behaviour?

The Andrew thing is more worrying. He needs to be held to account. He may well be one of life's innocents 😇 and just didn't realise that his friend Jeffrey was not on an extended Grand Tour when he was in incarcerated 😂, but he needs to be questioned about it. The media are right to pursue this, long overdue.

Hithere12 · 20/08/2019 00:12

😂 I actually think you’re a BOT at this point

He got a AAC at A Level, C in Biology. The math/science A Levels are notoriously hard as well as most people who pick them are gifted in science so they make them very difficult. It’s why I didn’t take maths A Level despite being good at it.

Notmyrealname855 · 20/08/2019 00:20

Toooldnowx I agree on how Meghan’s mostly treated, and how rabid the press are about her - but it doesn’t make the recent actions right. Particularly when some of us had such high hopes :( Great for a republican like me cos I don’t want any of them Grin

More being reported on Andrew and flight logs... more being reported on Mountbatten..

Agree Fergie is used as a buffer. Much like ALL the royal women - Kate and Meghan included. We speak more about them than their partners, and that’s the point isn’t it?

TooManyPaws · 20/08/2019 00:24

Andrew has always been a narcissistic piece of slime. He's his mother's widely acknowledged favourite and thinks he can get out of any trouble due to it. It's interesting that anyone I've ever come across in the navy who has had anything to do with him loathed him. I remember being on board one ship where he was an officer and it was clear that the senior rates despised him. In contrast, in a similar situation, Tim Laurence was considered a good bloke. The dock and services workers at Rosyth Naval Base also .loathed Andrew as a snotty piece of shit. I've known a few who have sailed with Charles and had dealings with Anne, and there was respect for both, completely unlike Andrew. Edward seems to have learned his lesson and kept his head down, taking over the DoE Awards etc; it can't have been great being the youngest, not being either parent's favourite, and not having the big job to compensate like Charles. I suspect that Andrew kept being friends with Epstein, thinking that he was Teflon thanks to Mumsie. He's also got his beard in Fergie, and both of them got good financial deals out of Epstein.

And it was terribly convenient when Epstein died, given how many prominent people had a lot to lose. I read that the postmortem showed that his hyoid bone was broken, which is common in strangulation but not hanging apparently. All those guarding 'mistakes' are so, so convenient.

Which of the Royals have academic smarts? William? Kate? Let's talk about their academic achievements then.

Both attended St Andrews University which is highly regarded. Both gained 2.1 degrees, in Geography and the History of Art respectively.

(Incidentally, wasn’t there a situation where it was discovered that Harry’s Art teacher was doing his GCSE art project, or something, for him? Bit of a hoo-ha at the time. Time for an oh dear)
