To ask what your bust, waist and hip measurements are

So I posted a thread on height and weight the other day and the most interesting finding was that weights look totally different on different people (even if same height).

So if you want to, please post your height, weight and stats. I just find these threads fascinating!

I’m 5ft 4, 8 stone 7lb and bust 33, waist 26.5, hips 35

Dress size 8-10 (sometimes M&S 6s)

This is very interesting reading. Normally on threads like these I observe that people of the same height/weight as me wear one or two sizes smaller than me. I put that down to my comically skinny arms and legs.

This thread has made me observe that people with the same height, weight AND measurements as me all seem to wear smaller sizes than me as well! Confused

Seriously how can you have a 35" bust and be in a size 8??? Size 10 used to be 32" bust, and there was nothing smaller, I know vanity sizing blah blah but bloody nora. 35" bust would have been between 14 and 16 in 1980.

silverystream · 20/08/2019 08:59

Balloon, narrow shoulders and baggy tops. And sizes have changed since the 80s. One to two dress size difference, I'd guess from remembering my teenage measurements to now.

silverystream · 20/08/2019 09:02

I remember 1987 and being 37 inches round the bust (was pretty proud of that then!Grin). I wore a size 12 but sometimes nicked Mum's size 14's but they were baggy round the waist and hips.

hopefulhalf · 20/08/2019 09:07

Size 10 32" bust ?? really?? in 1969 perhaps

Mabelface · 20/08/2019 09:11

5'5", 10st, 41-33-38. I barely go in at the waist. When I was 8st, I still had a 28" waist. Size 12 on the bottom and 14 on top. I look slim.

hopefulhalf · 20/08/2019 09:12

I accept that I am a 60-80's 14 absolutely. At 5'5" would have been taller than average too

hopefulhalf · 20/08/2019 09:13

In the 1860's I would have been freakishly big.

CrotchetyQuaver · 20/08/2019 09:25

@hopefulhalf yes absolutely!
32 was a 10, 34 was a 12, 36 was a 14.

Up until some time in the early1980's, M&S didn't have any changing rooms, you'd take stuff home and bring it back if it didn't fit. Their sizing was absolutely consistent across the board unlike now and there used to be big signs up all over the shop advising their sizing which for a 12 went something like 34-24-34.

My own dimensions post menopause and an under active thyroid are 47-38-43. The bulk of the excess weight is below my armpits and down to my buttocks ☹️ weight is 13.5 stone. I long for the old days post childbirth when I was 40-32-40...

augustusglupe · 20/08/2019 09:30

Christieee · 20/08/2019 11:00

Christieee · 20/08/2019 11:01

Handbag101 · 20/08/2019 12:11

Not sure of my measurements but 5ft 1, bra size 32 DD, 7.13 stone and size.... Who Knows!! Depends on shop - anything from a 6 to a size 14....!!!

EmeraldShamrock · 20/08/2019 12:19

I don't know my hip or waist measurement.
I am 5ft 3 inches, 7 stone 10lb size 8 32D bra, size 4 shoe. It would be boring if we were all the same.

slithytove · 20/08/2019 13:16

I am

42-33-42
5’5
12 stone 3 at the moment
Size 14 usually
34F

NameChangedForThis456 · 20/08/2019 13:44

Im 5'2, 8st 13lb & 36/31/36

I have PCOS so have always had a bit of extra weight around my belly than the average person 🤦‍♀️

Brazenhussy0 · 20/08/2019 14:01

Brazenhussy0 me too! I suspect most of my weight is glutes and quads! 😂

@TinyMystery High-five for quads and glutes of steel Grin

Did I seriously just see someone up-thread who is 5 ft 9 and only just over 7 stone?! Woman, you are severely underweight and need to either get some help or start doing some eating (sorry to be blunt but jesus christ...)

feelingverylazytoday · 20/08/2019 14:06

Lol, just found my stats from 2011, when I was at my heaviest.
Bmi - 35.3, bust - 48" , waist - 45" ,hips - 47" . I was a size 20-22 (now 10-12).
So glad I stuck to losing weight, even though I've had my ups and downs.

Christieee · 20/08/2019 14:07

Theres no need for the criticism. I cannot help if I cannot put weight on. I eat a lot more than some people who are bigger than me. Have you ever thought people may have underlying conditions why they dont put weight on? Totally unfair & horrible to criticise someone else. People these days!

Christieee · 20/08/2019 14:09

This is persisley why we have poor perception of body image these days. Because there is someone to pick faults with somebody else. How would you feel if you had a dig at someone who had an eating disorder for example?

ArthurtheCatsHumanSlave · 20/08/2019 14:18

Ok, in the interests of "lets have someone who's really weird", and not one retailer can get me size right:

Bust: 42
Waist: 31
Hips: 38

I am 5ft5" and weigh 10st10lbs. I wear a size 10 or 12.

Any size chart would put me in 14/16 or even 18 - but I am a small build, my ribcage is only 31", so a 10 for the bottom and 12 for the top (as long as it is stretchy) is fine.

EmeraldShamrock · 20/08/2019 15:26

@Brazenhussy0 Your comment to @Christieee was not ok, it is not ok to thin shame under a veil of concern.

Brazenhussy0 · 20/08/2019 15:29

Christieee
It wasn't a criticism. It was genuine shock. if your given weight and height are accurate, your BMI is around 15.
I have a friend who had an eating disorder and she was hospitalised at a slightly higher BMI than yours when her organs began failing and her periods had stopped, so you'll have to forgive my bluntness.

You seemed quite proud of your measurements so I can only assume that there is no underlying health condition causing it, or else you probably would have mentioned it.
So that means you are either suffering an eating disorder (which is why I said you should seek help) or you do not have an eating disorder but just aren't eating enough for your activity levels (which is why I suggested eating more.)

Brazenhussy0 · 20/08/2019 15:44

@EmeraldShamrock
If someone proudly declares they have a BMI of 15, I'm not going to sit back and nod politely in fear of being accused of 'thin shaming' (I said nothing about her appearance - only her physical weight and height).

It's dangerously underweight and being that underweight is an immediate health risk. If it isn't because of an existing health condition (e.g. overactive thyroid) then she really needs to seek help.

itssquidstella · 20/08/2019 16:08

5'11", bust 34", waist 26", hips 39". Nothing ever fits!
