What did you think you would call your kids

I couldn't sleep last night and for some reason I thought back to the names I decided I would call my kids when I was younger so my son would have been called Jordan Tyler Blush
My daughter was going to be called Tara, don't know why it just seemed the height of sophistication at the time 😂
3 children on and not one of those names has been used!! Was just wondering what names you thought you would use and did you actually call your children these names?

Kathy, Jade or Jasmine if I’d had children in the late 80s/early 90s.

Di1979 · 19/08/2019 17:19

When I found out I was pregnant with twins, before I knew the sex, I wanted Eulalia and Persephone for girls and names like Alfredo, Felipe, Luis and Fernando for a boy (my ex is Spanish).
Ended up with Victoria Cristina and Maria Elizabeth!

itssquidstella · 19/08/2019 17:28

Charlie and Archie when I was about 13. Oscar was top of my list for years but it's just too popular now.

BikeRunSki · 19/08/2019 17:33

Samuel
My first child was a boy, and he is called Samuel. Fortunately it was MiLs dad’s name and a long-standing name in FiL’s family.

I am fairly ambivalent about DD’s name.

laurely · 19/08/2019 17:34

Luke, jay and Ben . I have three boys but they aren’t their names

DitheringBlidiot · 19/08/2019 17:45

@x2boys do you know my mum!!

flyingspaghettimonster · 19/08/2019 17:59

Lorelei, Indianna and Felix. I stood my ground on the last one.

LynetteScavo · 19/08/2019 18:09

Rio (after a cartoon character in Jem and the Holograms) Arnold (after a french exchange student, and I've only just realised he was probably called Arnaud Grin) and Howard (after Howard Jones)

I had no girls names. Probably a good thing.

youarenotkiddingme · 19/08/2019 18:10

Originally I was having Jenny, daisy and James.

Then I liked Charlotte, Jessica, jack, Jacob and Callum.

I have a Thomas Joseph!

Lucafritz · 19/08/2019 19:08

I liked Hogarth for a boy after the boy in the iron giant film 😂 had a strange one for a girl too but can't remember it now...they were always twins in my mind too for some reason thank god im just having the one dc now!

tobee · 19/08/2019 20:04

Calen and Octavia. When I was pregnant with my last dc, I remembered the Octavia. So that baby was going to be Octavia right until he was born.

HazelBite · 19/08/2019 20:26

I was going to have a girl called Bianca, then Eastenders happened!

Passthebubbly · 19/08/2019 20:37

Josh or Jessica - 2 boys later neither are named that 😂. I did adopt Ds2 but his name was funnily in the running for ds1 so very happy with my kids names now. Still would call a girl Jessica though

Passthebubbly · 19/08/2019 20:38

Ha ha hazelbite my ds1 was going to be Zak until everyone said - like the guy in emmerdale? 😂

Natsku · 19/08/2019 20:48

I didn't have a girls name planned but I had planned on naming a son Aslak, which would have been my name if I had been a boy. And I still considered it when my son was born but he didn't look like an Aslak so he ended up as Konstantin.

RedSheep73 · 19/08/2019 22:45

Always wanted an Eleanor but it didn't go with our surname

Ohyesiam · 19/08/2019 22:47

Thing 1 and Thing 2.
I was right too.

justfortoday4367 · 24/08/2019 12:54

My 16 year old me was planning on Athena and David James - I’m guessing due to a poster shop , no idea why David?!?
I have 2 DD neither called Athena! When I was pregnant we had chosen Matilda I cried when she was born as she didn’t look like a Matilda and she was nameless for days!!!

HellToupee · 24/08/2019 13:31

Byron Dylan for a boy, Pandora Jemima for a girl.

I had one of each and both choices were, strangely, vetoed...

Tanith · 24/08/2019 13:45

I remember taking my niece and my sister to Madam Tussaud's when they were about 10 and they discussed this while we were waiting in the queue.

I could see the shoulders ahead shaking with giggles when my niece announced: "Well, if my mummy'd had her way, I'd have been Persephone and my brother would have been Thaddeus!"

LittleSweet · 24/08/2019 13:47

Bethany. We have two boys! I like Mallory, Laurel and Elena now.

WeCameToDance · 24/08/2019 13:50

I loved Virginia for a girl when I was a teenager. Dd did not get that for a name even though I still think it's beautiful. I was frightened of her being a target for bullies and my name is also the name of a South American state so thought it might be a bit themed.
I loved Caleb for a boy and it's not far off what my son is named. He got a religious name but not one of the uber popular at the minute ones. Saying that I was desperate to name him Elijah. Dh vetoed it on account of an old friend of his recently using the name for his son.

Beesandcheese · 24/08/2019 13:52

My first ever boyfriend used to tease me that I'd probably call my children sapphire/ moonbeam/ saffron etc because I am a bit hippy like. We bumped into each other with our respective partners and children. Mine have names that are on the top 20 lists, his were Sapphire and Emerald😎 (obviously altered to protect identity). I had to remark on how much I adored their names

Celebelly · 24/08/2019 13:53

I always was adamant my daughter would be called Ava. She is here and she is not called Ava. In fact, that didn't even make the shortlist of names! Her actual name wasn't one I'd ever really thought prior to pregnancy but it suits her (although I think some people would find it dull; I prefer timeless).

Socksontheradiator · 24/08/2019 13:57

I liked Kevin and Janet when I was a child (in the 70s, to be fair 😂)
My children were born in the 90s and have much more appropriate (though traditional) millennial names.
