Ok am going to admit to liking listening to bit of 1980s power ballad shite. However listing to Phil Collins - and had a thought that it sounds like a sound track for the divorced man. Agree?

No I don’t get why Beyoncé didn’t just dump his cheating arse - judging by the songs I think she really thinks he’s her soulmate. I’m waiting for that one to hit the fan, but that’s another thread really...

Exactly my problem with the whole Lemonade and tbh queeeeeeeen beyonce thing. She declares herself to be a "strong indepentant woman" her whole fan base is based around this shes a a feminist social warror role model. Yet her husband cheats on her, her sister kicks the shit out of him, and all queeeeeeeeen bey does is release an album whining about becky with the nice hair. And of course her fans laud her about how strong and indepentant she is.

Love a bit of Phil ❤️ didn't Sam Smith make lots of money on the back of a break up too? I think mostly every song is about love you/hate yous or life experiences mainly.

Yes, it was heartwarming to read how Orianne was willing to reconcile with the frail Phil, who is said to be worth around £110 million.

As for Beyonce, why oh why? It's not even as if she needs Jay's money, she has plenty of her own. I'm not one to condone violence but I couldn't help but cheer a little when Solange belted him!

Easy Lover and Susudio are two of the finest songs that this island has ever produced. I stand by this! Saw him in Hyde Park a couple of years ago and he can still drum like a motherfucker too. He’s a dirty Tory and on to about his 16th wife, but I don’t care, love a bit of Phil Collins.

Your post had me laughing quietly to myself. Spot on.
I do like some of his songs, particularly Roxanne. But I simply cannot take the man seriously. He's not been angelic towards women I believe. So it negates genuine passion and love in any of his lyrics. Perhaps Roxanne was about himself metaphorically.

Yea he's an arse but most artists are in some way, to date to our knowledge he hasn't done anything particularly heinous.

And of course artists draw on their experiences for their art Twas ever thus, this is not new.

Now I'm miffed cos I've googled "worst breakup songs ever" and all the returns are lists of the best!

Creepiest has to be stings "every breath you take" a fair few of his songs are creepy to be honest.

Phil just seems...human?

I even like some Genesis stuff, but according to their more hardcore fans I'm not really a fan as I like the later stuff and not so much the early stuff.

Biggest surprise for me was his daughters turn in "the blind side"

Favourites? Against all odds (take a look at me now) - anyone seen the truly awful film it was written for?

They have two children together, both have disabilities and are getting older, I do think it's nice they want companionship with each other. I'm sure he can spare a few mill, anyway ;)
