AIBU to be annoyed with dh?

He has taken dc to captain candy in Dubrovnik Croatia which is essentially a pick n mix place. He bought three bags of sweets and it came to £99.

The price is unclear and it is a tourist trap.

If anyone goes to captain candy please avoid.

I can't believe it still.

Ridiculous!

It often happens that some people can't see the pics or the OP can't see them but others can.

ElizaPancakes · 16/08/2019 23:13

Jesus I thought they would at least be lick sweets and not the big standard haribo type you get anywhere.

StudentHelp · 16/08/2019 23:17

Here for the pics Grin

HeadintheiClouds · 16/08/2019 23:21

You’re having us on, op, admit it... You managed to post one really weird photo but the one showing the relative size of the bag mysteriously hasn’t posted?
Admit it, he staggered home with a bin bag!

GastonTheLazybird · 16/08/2019 23:22

Could someone repost the pics please?!

Can't believe I'm refreshing a thread to see the size of a bag of pick and mix. Wtf has my life come to? GrinWink

pinkpinkblue · 16/08/2019 23:26

@HeadintheiClouds just trying to be helpful 🤷‍♀️, I can see all the pictures the OP has posted.

The bags are tiny and the sweets look a bit crap.

MadCattery · 16/08/2019 23:27

I'm in the US, and live near a chocolate shop that makes beautiful chocolates. They've been in the movies (Hunger Games) and the Christmas chocolates are awesome. I usually do some Christmas shopping there, and often go over $100. Not advertising for them, but they are such beautiful chocolates! At holidays they paint scenes on "tiles" of chocolate.

Ah, x post, pink. Tiny?

highheelsandbobblehats · 16/08/2019 23:30

We went to Iceland in January. Which is eye wateringly expensive (think £10 a pint minimum). But the two things that brought it home to us were popping into the local 24 shop to buy 4 bags of the Icelandic version of Haribo for present for the DC, plus a bobble hat each that had the word Iceland knitted on it. Got to the checkout and it was £50. For two hats and 4 bags of sweets.
The other thing was that on our last night, I popped into another of these shops (they're all over and are the local grocery store) and bought a wrap to eat. Cost £8. Popped into a Tesco petrol station on our way back from the airport the next day, bought an identical wrap. £2.50.
All that said, Reykjavik is fantastic and I highly recommend it. Just save twice the amount of money you usually would.

pinkpinkblue · 16/08/2019 23:31

@HeadintheiClouds don't look any bigger than a normal pic n mix bag, I'd be very upset to have spent £20 let alone £99.

Fatasfooook · 16/08/2019 23:32

Cineworld is bad for this. I think they should have scales so you can check as you fill. It’s awful when you get to the checkout and realise your kids have spent a fortune on pick n mix. I think as protest we should all fill bags then leave them at checkout when we Learn the price, they will soon get the scales in.

SD1978 · 16/08/2019 23:33

@MadCattery......but they are American chocolate.....everyone knows they are inferior.....🤣

Chickenish · 16/08/2019 23:33

If you just put random pictures on here, it is very hard to believe you.

dimdarkashian · 16/08/2019 23:33

Oh crikey. That's an awful scam

highheelsandbobblehats · 16/08/2019 23:34

Also Disneyland Paris. Went into a McDonald's/Burger King type restaurant for lunch next to Space Mountain.
1 x veggie burger meal with salad and an ice cream
2 x adult burger meal with fries
2 x kids burger meals inc yogurt
1 x nuggets box to share.

€70!

To be fair, the quality was amazing and no-one was hungry for the rest of the day.

DrVonPatak · 16/08/2019 23:34

That place is notorious for ripping people off, quite often in illegal ways. In my experience the police and newspapers there will be VERY interested in your story as the shop owner only pays the tax on the regular price, charges astronomically to tourists falling in the exchange trap and keeps the difference. You'd actually help if you reported it.

SD1978 · 16/08/2019 23:34

The reviews say the price is ridiculous- that is not £100 of confectionary!!!!!!

Violashift · 16/08/2019 23:34

If you just put random pictures on here, it is very hard to believe you.

I wish I made it up.

Thanks for reposting pics.

How would I go about this?

Nobody’s reposted them op. Unless my one is you? Grin

SauvignonBlanche · 16/08/2019 23:37

I got stung in that place too but thankfully not for £99 Shock

The DH paid in the local currency though. There isn’t an exchange trap as such. And I can’t imagine anyone but tourists goes in there.
