To think we can holiday for less than 5k

We have a couple of weeks annual leave November and DH does not think we can go abroad somewhere warm for less than 5k for the three of us.

We've not been away for a few years, is he right? Am I that out of touch?

We're going to Cyprus in October and it's £1600 for 3 of us.

Unless you're planning to go to
Mexico or Seychelles or Florida then you can definitely get a decent holiday for a fraction of the price.

TheFlis12345 · 12/08/2019 20:50

We did 2 weeks at a fancy all inclusive place in Lanzarote for less than £3k at the end of October. Morocco would also be easy with that budget.

blue25 · 12/08/2019 20:50

Yes you can. Look at the Canaries. Warm but cheaper than the Caribbean, Florida etc.

lovelyupnorth · 12/08/2019 20:50

We did a 5 star week in Portugal for £300 each.

We just done 2 weeks in Canada for 4 for just more than £5k

10 days in Barbados for £4K for 4

Quiet easy to do a holiday for under 5k

sugarbum · 12/08/2019 20:53

November?
Is he after 5 star luxury? Otherwise how ridiculous. Of course you can find somewhere less than 5k

Figgygal · 12/08/2019 20:54

Of course you can out of school holidays

Jinxed2 · 12/08/2019 20:55
Hmm
bluebeck · 12/08/2019 20:57

To clarify, you want to spend two weeks away - does the £5k include spending money?

You can definitely get 14 nights in Canaries for that in November.

Onwardsagain · 12/08/2019 20:59

@bluebeck it does include spending money. I'd really like to spend less though.

@sugarbum No not looking for luxury although that would be great. Just clean and comfortable with a bit to do.

We did a week in Lanzarote feb half term for £1000 for 4 so £250 each including hire car and spends.

Sweden for two weeks hire car flights and cottage in August £1200

I’d be looking at Caribbean for 5k in November.

Helpies · 12/08/2019 21:12

I've just booked 10 nights all inclusive for 6 people for under 3k in August.

IDontBelieveYou · 12/08/2019 21:13

What the heck @helpies where’s that at?

HarryElephante · 12/08/2019 21:15

Just do some research. You'll get your answer quicker than asking on here.

mermaidbutmytailfelloff · 12/08/2019 21:18

you can do cuba in November for around £1k per person for two weeks.

Bigpaintinglittlepainting · 12/08/2019 21:22

@lovelyupnorth you sound like a travel guru ! How did you do Lanzarote so cheaply?

Onwardsagain · 12/08/2019 21:24

@HarryElephante I will do some, but the prices you're quoted don't tend to be just what you spend so I was wondering if I was way off base or DH was over exaggerating somewhat

OP posts:
lovelyupnorth · 12/08/2019 21:27

@Bigpaintinglittlepainting

I do enjoy planning and getting a bargain

Flights RyanAir from Glasgow £38 each
Car hire )125 for week

Villa for week in playblanca £300 rest was spends booked via Facebook.

titchy · 12/08/2019 21:32

Ooh @lovelyupnorth tell me how to do Canada that cheap (thinking about it for next summer) - 4 adults, one week. Need to travel from Heathrow though.

AnastasiaVonBeaverhausen · 12/08/2019 21:33

We've done Disney world Florida for less than that when there was 3 of us, including spending money. You'll get plenty for that at that time of year. But just bear in mind it will be a week or so after Brexit and it's likely the pound will be at the lowest it's been in a long time, so get booked and spending money sorted sooner rather than later.

Howmanysleepsnow · 12/08/2019 21:34

£2.5k has done 6 of us for 2 weeks in August. 5k for half the people in November is a cinch!

jesuschristwtf · 12/08/2019 21:37

😂 don’t be silly of course £5k is more than enough! Unless you plan to fly business, stay at the Ritz hotels and only eat Michelin?

Onwardsagain · 12/08/2019 21:37

Thank you all so much for your replies. DH tends to have the free time to research more than I do but I'll definitely carve out some time to have a really good trawl through the internet

@titchy

We flew Air Canada from lhr-yyc and then back from Yvr-lhr. Hired a car. Stayed in 4 different places booked via booking .com and AirBnB. Loved Canada.

edwinbear · 12/08/2019 21:39

Mauritius is lovely that time of year. I reckon outside of school holidays you could do 3 of you, AI for less than £5k.
