Looking for a Summer 2020 Caribbean holiday, preferably AI for DH and myself. Would like hotel on the beach. Is it possible to get somewhere nice for approx £4000? Most well reviewed places are much more expensive than this.

Depends where in Caribbean really....we are going to Barbados outside of school hols, 4 star all inclusive and it's just under £5500 for the two of us. You may struggle for somewhere nice with your budget to be honest.

Kaykay06 · 12/08/2019 14:14

We did Cancun at rui palace las americas 20-27 of July for 3800 all inclusive and was lovely hotel is right on beach paid a little extra for sea front room
Although next year we are looking at another area with the kids so will be totally different.

T1meT0G023 · 12/08/2019 14:18

Jamaica just over 1K each Tui all inclusive
for 2 weeks

lalafafa · 12/08/2019 14:19

You’ll be lucky to get it for that price. We went to Dom Rep at Easter and it was 15k for 4 of us. My sister went to Mexico and it was £2200 each in the summer holidays , that was a Rui.

gotmychocolateimgood · 12/08/2019 14:21

@T1meT0G023 do you have a link please?

VivaLeBeaver · 12/08/2019 14:23

I went with Tui to Riveria Maya. 3k all inclusive for both of us. Occidental Xcaret, lovely hotel.

You do know it's hurricane/rainy season? So I think prices are actually a bit cheaper in the summer. You might be OK, I was when we went in July.

edwinbear · 12/08/2019 14:37

We went to the Dominican Republic this year, first 2 weeks of July, AI, 2 adults and DC of 7 & 9 for £3.8k. Hotel was good, newly refurbished, 6 or 7 a la cartes included in the AI, a water park on site for the DC, decent pools and beach. The service is much better in Mexico but for under £4k we really couldn't complain.

I had 2 weeks in Antigua for £900 last year (June) - hotel was average 3 star

BloomingHydrangea · 12/08/2019 14:54

Location is key, summer weather depends on where you go. It is off season for many Caribbean islands with poor weather

Sweetooth92 · 12/08/2019 14:55

We are going to the Dominican in September for 2 weeks, AI 4.5* total cost was £2100 for the three of us. DS will be under 2 though so he’s cheaper

Oysterbabe · 12/08/2019 14:58

We went to Barbados all inclusive, 10 days, 4 star, adults only resort. 3.5k in May 2015.

stucknoue · 12/08/2019 15:14

If you are willing to wait until next year to book you could get something good for that budget but it's a risk of course. I found 14 night Caribbean cruises for £1500 a person this August! Do remember summer is hurricane season though

timeforawine · 12/08/2019 15:20

Paid just over £3k for 2 adults 1 child for 2 weeks AI in Cuba next May with Thomas Cook.
Did Mexico this April for around £4250 but that also included unlimited park tickets to Xcaret which were £139pp
Looks like Jamaica has some good prices with First Choice/Tui

Whatnotea · 12/08/2019 15:22

Swanky villa in Barbados £2000 p/w, Premium economy flights £700 each BA. Going in November
£3400 but obviously not AI. It can be done

Celebrity Cruise cost us £2500 each for 2 weeks last year with econ flights, night in Miami & a balcony. If you drop the balcony can be done for £2k each.

MrsPworkingmummy · 12/08/2019 15:23

We paid £3000 b&b for a week in Aruba in August. Weather spectacular and completely out of hurricane belt due to its position in the Caribbean. There were fab AI hotels also.

MrsJBaptiste · 12/08/2019 15:31

Bloody hell, some of these prices are amazing!

I'm sat on a beach in the South of France and after spending money, we'll have paid nearly £5000 for this holiday - 4 of us in a caravan (although 5* campaite)

Wisheverydaywasfriday · 12/08/2019 15:48

Thanks for all the responses. Yes, MtsJ., when I looked at nice European resorts, the prices are nearly as high! Stayed in a Rui in Mexico a couple of years ago, which was fantastic but I think the prices have really increased. Will check out some of the places mentioned. Thanks all.

I think I booked mine through the British Airways sale - so might be worth waiting if you can

sue51 · 12/08/2019 15:54

£3500 for 2 all inclusive for 10 days in Antigua. November 2019.

Jemima232 · 12/08/2019 15:57

To ask how much you paid for your Caribbean holiday

Nothing, as we can't afford to go there.

TinyTickler · 12/08/2019 15:59

Have a look at Caribbean Warehouse, they have some great deals and are excellent to deal with.

chocolatesaltyballs22 · 12/08/2019 16:18

@jemima232 hahaha it is a bit of a first world problem isn't it!!

Glitterfisher · 12/08/2019 16:24

We paid £5.5k year before last at Xmas for a 2 week Caribbean cruise with P&O for 2A 2 C, flew to and from Barbados then just cruised around the Caribbean. It was amazing.

Glitterfisher · 12/08/2019 16:24

I know not AI but we went to a different beach every day, they were all near by.

T1meT0G023 · 12/08/2019 16:35

Royal Decameron Club Caribbean resort, Runaway bay. We went Nov last year. All inclusive, excellent selection of food. Small shop. Free water sports (extra for scuba diving). Also extra for trips out. Supermarket outside hotel. We stayed in one of these Aircon mini houses. Sandy beach, 2 pools, entertainment
