Following on from a (very late-to-the-party) discussion about this year's Glasto with some friends over dinner tonight, where we all decided Lauryn Hill was an absolute let down, who is the worst performer or group you've ever seen live? Especially thinking of people you really liked who let you down here, not just "was dragged to see Take That with DSis and they were shite" Grin

If you're not much of a music fan I suppose this stretches to comedians, actors, poets...anyone who gets up on stage and does a turn.

I happened upon The Hairy Bikers at a country fayre 3 years ago and their performance was inspirational and funny. Made my day.

Sooperkat · 13/08/2019 18:16

There were plenty of other MNetters at my worst gigs! I came to post about the Stone Roses at Reading - utter shite, I slipped out of the crowd to go to Underworld on another stage. RHCP Reading 1999, so boring. I was also at that Eminem gig at MK in 2004. The crowd really were feral and a bit scary!

CanoeDoYouThinkYouAre · 13/08/2019 18:19

Not a gig I actually attended but DH and I were having breakfast at a hotel in London and the people at the next table had seen Sarah Millican the night before, not enjoyed it and were very vocal about their disappointment.

Guess who walked in to the restaurant at that very moment...?

She had the continental option if anyone's interested.

Shuggas · 13/08/2019 18:20

And another vote for MM,saw them st download and wow..just terrible!

Also, Incubus.. saw them in about 2001. Incredibly boring, I remember being sat on the floor as half the crowd were also bored and just chatting with random people and having a laugh. Huge disappointment, such long drones of self indulgent drumming etc.

Also G n R, at Leeds festival. I had a nap!

And it pains me to say but Fear Factory, I absolutely love them, but poor Burton is totally tone deaf but I'd still see them again.

notacooldad · 13/08/2019 18:20

One of my favourite gigs was Gary Numan a few years back, I won the tickets. Cracking evening!!
Numan is a work horse and tours almost relentlessly.
Every show I've been to over the years had been fantastic. Everyone says'oh him that does Are friends electric?' But he is so much more than that. His heavy stuff is great.

MsMcMurphy · 13/08/2019 18:22

Reginald D Hunter at the Fringe last year. We recommended him to friends who cam with us and he was DIRE. Embarrassingly so. A slurring rambling expletive ridden mess. Never again.

absopugginglutely · 13/08/2019 18:25

Feel too bad to say it because I adore her albums but really really awkward gig where she had a go at the weirdly still and unresponsive crowed saying "Come on Cambridge, it's a Friday night!" Sort of blaming the audience for the awkwardness.

ForalltheSaints · 13/08/2019 18:25

Atomic Kitten.

Brought on as pre match so-called entertainment at a football match in 2002. The only time I have felt my human rights violated (no-one should be subjected to torture).

Mychitchatdays · 13/08/2019 18:28

Michael mcintrye. Tickets were bought 18 months before gig and he used all his gags on shows that were on TV before going. I was gutted and can't watch him now.

SimplySteveRedux · 13/08/2019 18:34

Ricky Gervais when he pulled his CFS "joke". Disablist cunt can go fuck himself.

Best was Evanescence, November 2011. Amy Lee just killed it.

SweetMarmalade · 13/08/2019 18:34

Billy Idol!

We, or rather I, was really looking forward to seeing him perform live but what a let down. It was all just about the image and sneer and constant change of clothes.

What I was MOST gutted about was the fact that Eagles of Death Metal were playing on another stage and I missed them because of Billy! Gutted! Thought he’d be awesome but he just wasn’t!

Ilovesweatybollocks · 13/08/2019 18:36

Early 90s, Wembley, Whitney Houston. Dragged out all her songs with out of tune awful warbling. Gutted cos turned down tickets to see the Chippendale's to go

MissyMoooo · 13/08/2019 18:37

@NoShitHemlock I saw 21 Pilots this year with my 13 y/o and was dreading it, but I thought they were bloody amazing!! I am a huge fan now Grin

KisstheTeapot14 · 13/08/2019 18:38

Another vote for Bellowhead and Bill Bailley as top notch gigs.

Purplealienpuke · 13/08/2019 18:40

Motorhead were AMAZING!!
Amy McDonald is fantastic too...
Rhodes Gilbert is very funny, as is Jason Byrne.
I enjoyed Reginald D Hunter when I saw him a few years ago, probably helped by the fact I think he's fit and he chatted me up.....

Countrygirl38 · 13/08/2019 18:44

The Levellers did an acoustic gig as Drunk in Public in my town. They were so miserable and made it incredibly clear they didn't want to do the gig and were sulking. We knew the man that put the gig on and he said their manager was the worst he had ever had contact with.

Also we saw Shane McGowan singing with another Irish band at Womad. He was so utterly drunk he couldn't remember the words to Fairytale of New York (there was an awkward silence in the middle of the song) and couldn't pick his microphone up - a man had to walk on stage to help him with it)

Countrygirl38 · 13/08/2019 18:45

I agree with the poster above that Bellowhead always did the most amazing concerts

Mablethorpe · 13/08/2019 18:47

Phatz and Small at Butkus a few years back. Played 'turn around' twice as it was the only thing anyone knew if theirs. Just dreadful.

Saw Sasha earlier this year and have to say his set was phenomenal. I haven't danced like that since about 2000!

Mablethorpe · 13/08/2019 18:47

Butlins!

Robstersgirl · 13/08/2019 18:53

Ed Sheeran at Glasto, he seemed really nervous which I expect he was. Only headliner I’ve ever walked out on.
Also Red Hot Chilli Peppers at IOW festival, I really wanted them to be great too, massive disappointment.

Beautga · 13/08/2019 18:56

2 i can think off Gary Glitter and Glitter band and Lindsfarne when they sold out for the Christmas market

Boysey45 · 13/08/2019 19:00

I went to see years ago who was actually very good and you'll be shocked. Rhona Cameron!. She was so funny, quick and had a really nice singing voice. The ticket was less than a fiver as well.

kellyb220982 · 13/08/2019 19:02

Definitely agree with RHCP - saw them in Glasgow in 2003. Too many pointless rifts and played for themselves rather than the audience. Cher was another massive disappointment, she spent more than half the show changing her outfit after every song and miming. Finally my husband still reminds me how I dragged him to see Ben Howard in Leeds and he was shocking, did rearranged versions of all his ‘hits’ so all our favourites were ruined.

MrsStott · 13/08/2019 19:03

Whitney Houston, high as a kite and couldnt reach the high notes, we walked out

notacooldad · 13/08/2019 19:09

Garbage... saw them in Nottingham and Shirley was clearly drunk from the outset. Didn’t know the words to her songs midway through to the end. So sad ☹️
When was this. I saw them last September in Manchester. It was an ok gig. Not the best, not the worse.
