AIBU to ask who is the worst performer/group you've seen live?

Following on from a (very late-to-the-party) discussion about this year's Glasto with some friends over dinner tonight, where we all decided Lauryn Hill was an absolute let down, who is the worst performer or group you've ever seen live? Especially thinking of people you really liked who let you down here, not just "was dragged to see Take That with DSis and they were shite" Grin

If you're not much of a music fan I suppose this stretches to comedians, actors, poets...anyone who gets up on stage and does a turn.

French at Saunders at the at the Everyman in Liverpool in 1988/89, absolute shite. They just repeated all the sketches they had done on the T.V. That's terrible, we might as well have watched a video and they were not funny either.

The Charlatans were terrible as well, everyone in the audience just talked.

Jessie94 · 13/08/2019 17:30

Meatloaf.

Dull performance. Kept going offstage and coming back on eating.

Lovemenorca · 13/08/2019 17:30

Springsteen
Wembley I think. Circa 2009

Rebecca75red · 13/08/2019 17:34

NomDeQwerty What’s wrong with Ross Noble?

EllenMP · 13/08/2019 17:34

Whitney Houston, a couple years before she died. Her voice and mind were both pretty much gone and it was a very sad evening. I was angry that some asshole music producer put her out there like that, choosing to make money from her name and legacy rather than protecting both by getting treatment for her instead.

CharlesLeeRay · 13/08/2019 17:35

Rihanna!

Fowles94 · 13/08/2019 17:36

@NoShitHemlock my mum would love to see Rick Astley 🙄😂

Lovemenorca · 13/08/2019 17:40

@darkcloudsandsunnyskies
Why are you so negative and spreading it around

And yet you post this the other day

Norwich is just a huge car park. It’s a medieval place over run with parked cars everywhere. Awful.

Toooldfornonsense · 13/08/2019 17:40

Garbage... saw them in Nottingham and Shirley was clearly drunk from the outset. Didn’t know the words to her songs midway through to the end. So sad ☹️

GreenShadow · 13/08/2019 17:42

Unfortunately mine was Elton John. It was many years ago (1980s) and he just had none if his usual charisma and didn't interact with the audience at all. Basically just sat and played to himself.

spiderlight · 13/08/2019 17:44

Counting Crows in the late 90s. The band were doing their absolute best but the singer was absolutely pissed out of his mind, stumbling around the stage, occasionally muttering a few lines into the mike and generally being obnoxious. The crowd was shouting for their one and only big hit at the time and he ignored them until the very end and then said 'Mr Jones? Yeah, you're not having that' and staggered off the stage.

Alleycat1 · 13/08/2019 17:45

Walked out of Genesis. It was when they are dressing up in weird costumes in the 70s. Best: Queen and Cockney Rebel.

GreenShadow · 13/08/2019 17:47

And then of course there is (Finley Quaye) when the promoter had to throw him off the stage and give the audience their money back.....

H007 · 13/08/2019 17:48

Easy! Gorillaz Glastonbury 2010... They were awful! No-one was engaging.

Two weeks ago I went to see a famous Italian singer called Elisa, she sang for two hours, only one song was sang in Italian the rest in English.
Very very disappointing, not was I was expecting

splitthedifference · 13/08/2019 17:52

Bob Dylan, he was obviously on drugs or something and fell asleep when there was a short break.

Mammajay · 13/08/2019 17:57

Green shadow I saw Elton John at the Albert Hall many years ago. Boring. Jimmy Hendrix was amazing at the Ram Jam Club in Brixton back in the day.

Pollipops · 13/08/2019 18:02

My friend and I used to get free tickets to concerts all the time as her hubby was security at the gigs, I have to say that Leona Lewis was terrible live and new kids on the block (which we thought would be an absolute laught ) was a huge disappointment.
Best concerts I've attended where
Ed Sheeran
Paolo Nutini
Lionel Richie
The dead south!!! All amazing

KisstheTeapot14 · 13/08/2019 18:05

Glad I've saved my money on not going to see some of these gigs. I'm often feeling a bit sad as I can't afford nights out - this has cheered me up! Perfect antidote to FOMO.

Laughing at descriptions of Quo, BDB and Mr Motivator.

I got free tickets through work to see Neil Diamond at Hamden. He spent 50% of the concert talking about the Vietnam war, about peace keeping and poverty. Very noble but there was about 10 minutes between each song. It all got too much. I’m glad I didn’t pay the £75 for ticket. So disappointed

Sara107 · 13/08/2019 18:06

About 20 years ago, went to see Jerry Sadowitz in our local town. Didn’t know him but DH told me that he was really funny with a very dark, black humour and did lots of magic tricks / conjuring. He shambled on stage late in a really foul mood (drunk?). His comedy wasn’t black and edgy, he was just rude and obnoxious, insulting the audience and saying randomly outrageous things. Nobody was laughing and he got more and more insulting and angry towards the audience. There wasn’t any act as such, just him f-ing and blinding at a few hundred totally baffled paying customers. At the interval we had a drink, and decided (along with most of the audience!) not to go back for the second half. We later found out that Sadowitz also decided not to go on for the second half and the venue had refunded anybody who had stayed on.

Purplealienpuke · 13/08/2019 18:08

Glastonbury... no idea of the year, but very early in the career of the Proclaimers. I hadn't gone TO SEE THEM, but happened to be sitting (not off my tits, no not me) when they came on, lunchtime set. They were that bad, anyone who wasn't asleep got up and walked away 😂
Billy Connolly, during his drinking days, was a big disappointment. Paid a shed load of money, and the babysitter, for an evening of bollocks.
One of my favourite gigs was Gary Numan a few years back, I won the tickets. Cracking evening!!

CuppaTeaPlz · 13/08/2019 18:13

The Cheeky Girls 😂
Saw then earlier this year, in Manchester at a Pride event, and I was even less impressed than I expected.... and my expectations were low 😂

FontSnob · 13/08/2019 18:13

Lauryn hill for us too!

lilywillywoo · 13/08/2019 18:15

Jonny Vegas, glasgow about 15 years ago. I like him in sitcoms but he seemed pissed, kept getting off the stage so half the audience couldn't see or hear him, and I could hardly make out a word he said. Theatre was melting, I was pregnant and very bored. Tedious
