Following on from a (very late-to-the-party) discussion about this year's Glasto with some friends over dinner tonight, where we all decided Lauryn Hill was an absolute let down, who is the worst performer or group you've ever seen live? Especially thinking of people you really liked who let you down here, not just "was dragged to see Take That with DSis and they were shite" Grin

If you're not much of a music fan I suppose this stretches to comedians, actors, poets...anyone who gets up on stage and does a turn.

Lulu at Glastonbury about 5 years ago was an absolute shocker. Complete name dropping, disdaindul, odious woman. She was horrible to her band as well, kept shouting at them.
Half way through some dirgy song she suddenly stopped and said 'And then Barry Gibb walked in'
Me and my Dsis pissed ourselves laughing and she shot us a dirty look. Now we try and shoe horn it in at ever increasing awkward moments. 'And then Barry Gibb walked in'
Ridiculous woman.

Any Marillion fans tempted to see Fish on tour this year might also want to reconsider

Fish hasn't been with Marillion for over 30 years and has toured extensively all over Europe ever since.

What’s your point? If he’s shit, he’s shit!

Of course ' if he is shit, he is shit'
I thought he wasn't great at 53° in Preston ,probably the last time I went to one if his gigs.
However to say any Marillion fans should avoid seeing Fish doesn't make sense. Marillion fans ( by being fans) would know that Steve Hogarth has been their singer for 30+ years. You can't compare Fish to Steve Hogarth, they are two different singers.
It's a shame that Fish has to keep touring for his personal reasons but I'd say he isn't that good anymore, both in voice and writing.

Bob Dylan in Kilkenny in July.
Sad

I'm not surprised at Lulu, I always think she is trying very hard to be nice.

I've had an 'audience with' Twiggy, she was so down to earth, normal, funny and some of her stories of when she was a naive daft 16 year old and was discovered were hilarious. What a weird turn life takes sometimes - she owes everything to a haircut and a chance photo that someone looked at. She added to the story by telling us that a boy at her school had a hairdresser Uncle and the boy said 'go and see him, he'll do your hair for free'. It was in Mayfair and she'd never been to Mayfair so decided to go. And the rest is history. Listening to her was like chatting to a mate in a pub, very natural and amusing.

Is that Lulu of the "Buy my amazing face cream and you too can have a wrinkle free face like mine." ?

She forgets to add you'll also need to buy Botox and fillers Grin

I've never warmed to Lulu. She's one of those sort of 'national treasures' that nobody I know loves.I always feel like she's got no warmth. So not surprised people have had the experiences they've had with her shows.

Both Lulu and the late "Killer" Black always struck me as all top-show.

Saccharin sweet on the surface, but I aways suspected that if you scratched that surface even very lightly, you'd find an egotistical bully underneath.

Saw Michael McIntyre at a comedy club once (not a scheduled performance, so no one had planned to see him). He was dire. Told 4 or 5 rubbish jokes, asked the crowd why they weren’t laughing, someone heckled “because you’ve not told a funny joke yet” and he stormed off. Then his manager (or assistant or something) came on stage and “told off” the crowd for making Michael leave as if we were a primary school class being put in detention. The earlier acts came back on and did a bunch more material which was actually funny, but the compare kept coming out between acts and reminding the crowd it was all our fault Michael left. It was bizarre.

Our extended family, about 20 of us, went to a panto which was absolutely AWFUl, we were trying to help the poor actors, laughing and cheering at appropriate moments. The Stage Manager came on and told us off for laughing at them!

Orlandointhewilderness · 20/08/2019 14:40

Worst was Tool at download this year. No stage presence and every song sounded the same. Highlighted I think because they were on after the smashing pumpkins who were utterly incredible. Billy corgan is never showy, but they are bloody slick and it was amazing.

Also fantastic this year was Alice in Chains. That was a show to remember.

Dying to see foo fighters and rammstein.

Canuckduck · 20/08/2019 17:44

Robbie Williams, Madonna in her gypsy phase, Neil Young in his grunge / feedback phase

IHaveBrilloHair · 20/08/2019 19:46

A friend went to see Kiefer Sutherland the other week with no expectations, and said he was bloody brilliant, so I've just got tickets to see him too.
Someone I've seen 4 times over 17 years who always gives it everything....
Enrique Iglesias.
Never a bad show, will absolutely go again.

Tangofandango · 21/08/2019 07:24

Seen Bruce Springsteen loads of times but nothing will ever beat the first time - 4 July 1985 at Wembley stadium. He was incredible.

Also seen Van Morrison many times, he's unpredictable but his music is always good and he has great guests. But the worst ever was VM and Bob Dylan together at Birmingham NEC June 1998. It was so bad we walked out halfway through.

GabsAlot · 21/08/2019 18:04

Robbie always puts on a great show no matter if its 60thusand people or 200

lachenalia · 02/09/2019 10:42

Worst was definitely Chuck Berry.Came on late , did less than an hour of his hits , voice gone and hitting bum notes on his guitar. Apparently he owed money to the IRS and had to keep on touring to pay the bill so did the least time onstage as possible. Luckily he didn't do an encore !
Didn't like John Bishop much, always seemed ok on telly but on stage felt it necessay to eff and blind every other word which was totally unnecessary and didn't add anything to the humour.
Best comedy -Michael McIntyre is always brilliant without loads of swearing or offcolour jokes . Victoria Wood was wonderful , so funny it actually hurt . Best gigs - Dr Feelgood in Lee Brilleaux days , Status Quo in the old days- saw them a couple of years ago and they had Chas&Dave as support act and they were miles better and really got everyone singing along .
What is very noticeable is how many MNs have commented on how drunk ,drugged, bored, off key the acts were. How rude and unprofessional to charge a fortune for tickets then short change the customers by coming on stage in this state . These performers are making a lot of money out of the public ,at least have the courtesy to give 100%.
