Following on from a (very late-to-the-party) discussion about this year's Glasto with some friends over dinner tonight, where we all decided Lauryn Hill was an absolute let down, who is the worst performer or group you've ever seen live? Especially thinking of people you really liked who let you down here, not just "was dragged to see Take That with DSis and they were shite" Grin

If you're not much of a music fan I suppose this stretches to comedians, actors, poets...anyone who gets up on stage and does a turn.

And agree about Carol Ann Duffy, took a load of six formers as part of a school trip. It was as boring as hell. Lovely poems, delivered in a monotone. She might as well have been reeling off her shopping list.

Whatsitlike · 12/08/2019 16:43

Elphame, seen Rammstein a couple of times, last time in Berlin, fantastic. But it was in the early days, not so keen on the music now, but they did put on quite a show, enjoy!

ShirleyPhallus · 12/08/2019 16:44

I went to see a comedy gala which had loads of comedians including one mentioned here for being crap

I was in one of the front rows and they filmed me laughing loads. When the TV show came out they edited it so I looked like I wasn’t laughing at this incredibly unfunny comedian! I was not pleased!

Cary2012 · 12/08/2019 16:44

Or reading off her shopping list ...

TerrorAustralis · 12/08/2019 16:51

@XXcstatic - oh yes, Jimmy Carr (couldn't remember is name, kept thinking Jimmy Saville). DH and I were not big fans, but were given free tickets. I don't think I cracked a smile once. So pathetic, trying to be 'edgy' while just being revolting. And that stupid laugh that he plays up just made it worse. Ugh.

FrangipaniBlue · 12/08/2019 16:53

@LutherRalph1 I think you and I may have been at the same concert Grin

Funny PPs saying Kings of Leon - I once got chatting with a security guy at a different concert between acts and was asking him who he'd met, what they were like etc - he said that by far the biggest tossers were KoL!!!

Hands down worst concert - Little Mix. It's every bit as bad as you'd expect and then some. Why I let DS persuade me to take him I'll never know Confused

Best act I've seen and I don't think will ever be beaten for me are the Foo Fighters.

sodrained · 12/08/2019 16:54

I'm so glad nobody has said Micky Flanagan for me he is pure gold

OpportunityKnocks · 12/08/2019 16:57

Red hot chilli peppers and James Brown at Hyde Park. Both appeared off their faces and it was a massive let down

PotterHead1985 · 12/08/2019 16:59

@FrangipaniBlue good job my best friend of 34 years is ghosting me because of something that was completely out of my control. I can now sell the little mix tickets!!! Grin

theSnuffster · 12/08/2019 16:59

I saw red hot chilli peppers at Reading festival once. I like their music and was really looking forward to it but their performance was awful. I think, if I remember rightly, there were problems with the sound and they just sort of gave up trying eventually.

OpportunityKnocks · 12/08/2019 17:01

Ok. I see the rhcp was awful for everyone

shockthemonkey · 12/08/2019 17:02

Peter Gabriel, who blew my socks off in the early 80s, disappointed me terribly with his Scratch My Back (or whatever it was called) tour in the noughties

RainbowAlicorn · 12/08/2019 17:08

The worst for me was Guns n Rose's at Download. It was really just Axel Rose and a bunch of others, Axel stormed off 3 separate times, once was because he wanted a carpet putting down Hmm, they ended early, when he refused to perform and there were massive riots throughout the festival.

PixiKitKat · 12/08/2019 17:13

Worst for me was probably 30 Seconds to Mars at Leeds fest 2011, Jared Leto is beautiful to look at but he was such an arsehole. Hardly singing at all and then got annoyed that the crowd weren't really moving.

ChihuahuaMummy1 · 12/08/2019 17:19

@sodrained I'd love to see him live I hope he tours again, ideally in the North!

Skinandbones · 12/08/2019 17:20

Hate to say this but Prince, Lovesexy at Wembley. I'd just got in to him through dp now dh, it was darkness v light or at least that how he explained it. I just didn't get it at all, came away thinking he was weird and I wouldn't be going to see him again.
Saw him 3 times after that and he was bloody amazing.

Glitterandunicorns · 12/08/2019 17:21

@Oysterbabe and @JohnMayersGuitar I was there then too, and Red Hot Chilli Peppers we're truly awful. I was gutted as I really liked them, but they pissed about doing solos and jamming and we're just horrible.

riotlady · 12/08/2019 17:32

Bowling For Soup were terrible, they couldn’t make it through ONE song without talking halfway through to talk. And when I say couldn’t I mean they seemed so unfit and out of breath I’m pretty sure they genuinely weren’t capable of performing a whole one of their songs

RainbowAlicorn · 12/08/2019 17:39

Saw Marylin Manson at twice at Download, he was pretty disappointing. HIM aren't very good live either, you can hardly hear Villa sing over the drums.
Oh and Hoobastank, but that wasn't really their fault, I was 15 when I saw them at Download and there was a couple stood right in front of me and my 14 year old friend and he was fingering her all the way through and she whipped his dick out and was jacking him off, so not the best.

RainbowAlicorn · 12/08/2019 17:41

@riotlady I have seen Bowling for Soup twice and they were amazing. Lots of singing and crowd interaction, wasn't a big fan of them before I saw them live.

VickyEadie · 12/08/2019 17:42

Bon Dylan, Sheffield, late 90s. Each song was recognisable only because of the lyrics - his voice was absolutely shite.

Stravapalava · 12/08/2019 17:42

Saw Blue as part of a party in the park type thing and they were awful. Out of key, out of time etc.

VickyEadie · 12/08/2019 17:42

Bob Dylan, obviously!

managedmis · 12/08/2019 17:44

He was being followed straight after by, of all people, Mr Motivator...who he had referred to as a cunt.
Mr Motivator bounded on stage and said, “Right well...I think we all know who the cunt is!” before launching straight into his routine which went down a storm! He was fantastic! Ha ha!

Yes to jimmy Carr just a relentless series of unfunny jokes - constant one liners. It was hard bloody work I made it to the interval then escaped- never again!
Jess Glynn was pretty shocking and just boring tbh.
