Do you shave every day?? My legs are hairy, my armpits are hairy, my hands are hairy. Not lots, but enough to make me feel conscious. I’m busy with a housemove so no time to wax. I’m so fed up! Eyebrows need attention too. I get them threaded, but can’t go for atleast 2 weeks.

How do people manage to look so presentable all the time???

Tbh I mostly just brazen it out.

I don't have nice legs at all so vvv rarely have any part of them on show, don't often wear tank tops and my eyebrows aren't too bad in their natural state.

Otherwise I shave 'dry' with a thick body butter type lotion and a man's razor. Gets a very close shave and I tend to get less razor burn this way. Takes bloody forever though and cba with the faff.

Waxing hurts. As do all other methods of ripping body hair out by the roots so I refuse to do that. I'm not being in pain just I don't offend anyone with my hairy/stubbly shins.

In winter I am a full blown yeti.

bethankfulforwhatyouhave I got a tinkle blade on Amazon. Pack of three for about £2. Honestly? I've never been happier. It does grow back but then I hate it and am happy to whip if off again - no one would know but it's made me feel so much better and more confident.

I remember saying to my best friend that I hated my hairy upper lip, her response? "If you don't like it, get rid of it!" Oh, ok.... works wonders.

Masketti · 09/08/2019 20:50

Philips Lumea here too. Revolutionised my life!

Got it in April. Used as regularly as advised. Went on holiday and only shaved armpits once a week vs twice a day in previous years. Legs only once (bad weather second week) but probably only needed once a week too. Bikini line once only vs once a day. I'm over the moon. Wish I'd got it 20 years ago!

HappyHippy45 · 09/08/2019 20:51

I think women are perfectly presentable whether they choose to remove body hair or not.
Well said.
Why the hell should women spend so much time and energy removing hair? Hair isn't disgusting.....it's natural, but we've been programmed to believe there's something wrong with females having hairy legs or public hair.
Can you imagine if we held men to the same standards of hair removal? It's just stupid......and it's not men who are the most judgmental about hairy women....it's women!

Morgan12 · 09/08/2019 20:54

Could someone put a link to the lumea they bought?

StripeySocks29 · 09/08/2019 20:57

OP do you notice other people’s body hair? I can’t say I do, I shave my pits once a week in the shower, do my legs if I’m going to a wedding or something but otherwise I just leave it, and I do my eyebrows if I remember while I’m watching tv before bed, no one’s ever said anything.

ButDoYouAvocado · 09/08/2019 20:59

Lasered it all off!

Neverender · 09/08/2019 21:00

Of course we don't have to but I became really miserable about my sideburns and just thought it was something I had to put up with.

I don't. So I won't. It's really simple and has made me much happier.

I'm sure no one else gives a shit but I do.

Neverender · 09/08/2019 21:01

Plus, I have massive bushy 70's pubes and couldn't give a shit what anyone thinks Grin

willstarttomorrow · 09/08/2019 21:01

I have very dark body hair and have always had quick regrowth. I used to get legs, bikini and underarms waxed but life is too busy and regrowth is a pain. I swim a lot so day to day it is just keeping on top of legs and underarms in the shower. A boyshorts swimsuit means I can forget bikini area and eyebrows get waxed.

Weezol · 09/08/2019 21:02

Pretty much everything HappyHippy45 said along with a huge dose of 'just can't be arsed'.

Neverender · 09/08/2019 21:03

P.s.i look as smooth as Michelle Keegan from the side GrinGrinGrin

Likeazombi · 09/08/2019 21:04

Lumea, only got it a couple of months ago and I'm so happy with the results, legs and bikini line are hair free, underarms still need a couple of goes.
Wish I had got it years ago.
Eyebrows I get threaded about once a month.

Flupibass · 09/08/2019 21:04

The best thing I ever did was laser hair removal, expensive but worth every penny. I only wish I’d done it years ago. You need dark hair and pale skin for it to work .

HaudYerWheeshtYaWeeBellend · 09/08/2019 21:08

Strawberry blonde here, I’m not hairy, but I shave everyday (legs, bikini line, under arms, and once every 2-3 weeks I veet my full bottom half.

Eyebrows once every 6-8 weeks, however they just don’t “grow” I basically get the fresh shape.

Neverender · 09/08/2019 21:08

Just do whatever makes you happy- if you hate it and it makes you feel crap then get rid (there are loads of ways to do it)

If you like it but feel under pressure to do something then that's different.

helpsomuchclutter · 09/08/2019 21:33

How do people manage to look so presentable all the time???

Easy. I gave up trying! Grin

roses2 · 09/08/2019 21:40

I bought the cheapest Philips Lumea mainly for chin hair. Have used it on my chin and it's worked a treat. You need to invest time to do the legs and arms. I've used it a handful of times there and hair growth is significantly less already.

Even salon laser isn't permanent. Laser may kill old hair but new hairs will keep on growing through.

Jengle · 09/08/2019 21:52

Does anyone know if the Lumea would be ok with young teens?

FuriousVexation · 09/08/2019 22:11

I shave my pubic and armpit hair every other day, because sweat gathers in those fuckers.

I don't shave my leg hair at all. I don't have any sweat glands on my lower legs so why would I give a shit?

IwantedtobeEmmaPeel · 09/08/2019 22:21

I have always shaped and plucked my own eyebrows so couple of minutes a week. I have used an epilator on my underarms, legs and bikini and was pleased with the results, hair grew back much slower than shaving. In April I got a Philips Lumea Prestige IPL & got rid of about 60% of my leg hair and 90% of my underarm hair. My facial hair has also reduced significantly although I still have to pluck the grey. I would recommend the Lumea and wish something like this had been available when I was young. If you cannot afford an IPL then an epilator is a good compromise. BTW I did not pay the full price for the Lumea, I got it when on offer from Amazon. I like these gadgets as I don't have to make time to go to a salon and can do the job when it is convenient for me.

Toobuktim · 09/08/2019 22:22

Does anyone have freckles or moles on their skin and use the Lumea? I’d love to get one - dark hair, fair skin....but I am spotted with moles Blush

BMW6 · 09/08/2019 22:26
  1. I haven't had to pluck my eyebrows since my elder sister plucked them into thin arches c1972. They never grew back..... (blessing or curse?)
  1. I used to shave armpits, but find I am much less hairy than I used to be, so no longer bother (but would if swimwear was required)
  1. Have never delipidated forearms. Had sister who did, she was shaving arms foreverafter. Lesson learned. My forearms have the same soft and downy hair as my face (and the rest of bod, apart from legs - see 4) and no-one has ever, ever, remarked on the hairiness of my arms
  1. Lower legs.........if I could go back in time I would stop myself shaving my lovely legs aged 14. They were like my arms are now 50 years later, FFS
  1. Fanjo. Trimmed once, never again (unbearable itching, to hell with that)

Frankly I couldn't care less what anyone thinks!
