To have fallen in love with princess Charlotte and her mother?

I’ve always been neutral when it comes to the royals. Didn’t even watch the wedding(s).

But the a clip of Princess Charlotte cheekily poking her tongue at the public and her mother’s reaction is delightful.

The DoC seems to be blossoming into her role as future queen and this little interaction with daughter and public absolutely makes me melt!

It's sad that so many on a page called mumsnet fail to see normal 4 year old behaviour when they see it. Add in this tiny girl has the added pressure of the world's press around her they are going to capture these normal moments of 4 year old behaviour, whether people like the behaviour or not. Look at 4 year olds at the park running round like little maniacs and displaying much more cheeky behaviour than this, they need to its natural. Now imagine you have a 4 year old in front of cameras performing to the public for extended amounts of time. They are not going to act perfectly the entire time no child can which is why reception classes have lots of time for outdoor and active play.

Samcro · 09/08/2019 19:25

I saw it on the news and thought it was just a small child being rude, did like that kate didn't make a thing of it though.

Basketofkittens · 09/08/2019 19:26

I can’t stand any of them. Fawning over a small child and addressing her as a princess is just weird.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 09/08/2019 19:27

Blimey she’s only 4.

And her mother might have tried to save face with the laughter.

MarshaBradyo · 09/08/2019 19:28

When I was younger I thought Wills and Harry looked ‘Royal’. Could be that I was young

The newest ones really do look like any child in a park, maybe image quality is part of it but that difference isn’t there.

Mybestfriendisanalien · 09/08/2019 19:30

addressing her as a princess is just weird.

Eh?! She is a princess Confused

I didn't see that but she was gorgeous waving at the cameras when George was born

Mummyshark2019 · 09/08/2019 19:35

She didn't really do much here apart from laugh at her child sticking her tongue out.

BurnedToast · 09/08/2019 19:35

I don't get the fawning myself. She's a 4 year old, behaving like a 4 year old. Kate did what most of us would have done I suspect. What's to be so arse licking about in that?

Basketofkittens · 09/08/2019 19:45

Princess by name, it doesn’t actually mean anything. She’s not got special blood or anything. None of them do.

I certainly wouldn’t be addressing a child (or any of them) as “your royal highness” or curtsying.

slashlover · 09/08/2019 19:49

Child acts like a child. Parent acts like a parent.

That's the entire 'story'.

SilverySurfer · 09/08/2019 19:53

A tad OTT don't you think? I'm not a fan of DoC and don't find the sight of a child poking out their tongue cute in any way.

But whatever floats your boat. Hmm

Mybestfriendisanalien · 09/08/2019 20:10

I bet if you were given an invitation to a palace dinner, you’d both take it and curtsy to the Queen.

Now this I find a tiny bit interesting.

PolkaDotted · 09/08/2019 20:18

Not the person you addressed but I'd sooner chew my limbs off and pay someone to beat me over the head with them while they sing Ed Sheeran's entire back catalogue.

PortiaCastis · 09/08/2019 20:20

I wouldn't go to a palace dinner either, I'd sooner go to The Ship as it's probably more friendly !

JaimeBronde · 09/08/2019 20:23

FFS Charlotte is 4 not 44!
4 year olds do like sticking their tongues out & it's certainly not rude from a young child especially if someone is doing it to you to start with.
Now bad behaviour from a 4 year is them having a tantrum & chucking themselves on the floor because they can't have what they want.
(Sorry Mum Smile)

“I bet if you were given an invitation to a palace dinner, you’d both take it and curtsy to the Queen.”

I certainly would. Like a shot. I like frocks and posh stuff and scandal and I want to get my money’s worth out of the Royal Family before they’re abolished. I’ve done two garden parties and a couple of posh, royally attended dinners, although not at Buck House in various past lives.

BenWillbondsPants · 09/08/2019 20:24

There is literally nothing anyone can post on MN these days that won't bring out absolute arsehole behaviour from some posters. Grin

BertrandRussell · 09/08/2019 20:24

And I had a lovely time.

LaurieMarlow · 09/08/2019 20:25

When I was younger I thought Wills and Harry looked ‘Royal’.

Seriously???

What does that even mean?

They’re just people. Not particularly attractive, clever or talented people either.

MarshaBradyo · 09/08/2019 20:26

Just what I said

AppropriateAdult · 09/08/2019 20:27

“Catherine's response was fine. If she'd told her off obviously in public people would have criticised her.”

They wouldn’t, you know. A slightly reproving look would have gone down brilliantly in the “she’s just like us” stakes.

Nah. The entire press corps had just burst into laughter. A po-faced response from Kate would have soured the moment. If you actually watch the video you'll see she immediately spoke to Charlotte, turned and shared a laugh with the audience, then spoke to Charlotte again and hustled her off. The 'reproving' was clearly done, just with a light touch. Kate is very good at managing her image.

JaimeBronde · 09/08/2019 20:28

That's so right Ben, on here you can have an argument about any old thing. The maddest one I ever read was about party helium balloons!

MarshaBradyo · 09/08/2019 20:28

I was very young they were about 8 think it was their hair and white clothing

Now no. I can’t imagine calling the new ones Princess etc now.
