To think Mr Big really is a shit?

I used to watch Sex and the City and think Big was the ideal man. Handsome, wealthy etc., but I'm rewatching the entire series now and he's just awful to Carrie. Why does she put up with it and keep going back to him?!

Not that she's much better.

I think that Kim Catrell is the 'outsider' from what I've read.
I have no idea why, she's fantastic!

Hated Berger and the fact that Carrie used to call him that, instead of Jack. Why? Why would u call ur bf by his surname ? Petrovsky was an arse. Loved Big, but yeah, they pretty much deserved each other

I always thought Miranda should have ended up with Robert. He was her equal.

Harry is the best bloke of the lot, Carrie and Big are as bad as each other.

I made the mistake of rewatching SATC last year. It hasn’t aged well. Everyone in it is a shallow, selfish arsehole, and the storylines only serve to highlight what dicks they are.

And she used to call Petrovsky 'the russian' that always grated on me.

I've been re-watching all of the series, I think Carrie is far worse than Big! She's awful to everyone, even her friends.

We didn't even know Big's actual name until the end. Or am I remembering that incorrectly?

Never liked Carrie even when I was young and watching it the first time, totally self obsessed. I thought BIG treated her like rubbish so didn't like him either. Didn't like Aiden either as he was too whiney and preachy and clingly. Berger was the pits too. Harry was the only decent one. Samantha was good fun and a good friend aswell. Miranda I was okay with but thought Charlotte was pathetic as only talked about men. I must watch the repeats.

He was horrible but so was she. She's in Divorce on Sky Atlantic these days and I feel like she's just playing an older Carrie. She's always so self absorbed!

Harry is its only redeeming feature - although Charlotte came into her own after her miscarriage and watching Elizabeth Taylor.

Samantha was an unexpected pleasure in the "Horrible Histories" film I had to sit through last week!

This is probably your problem right there- what about being kind or funny or supportive- arent those the characteristics that should make up the ideal man?
SITC was a show about 4 of the most shallow people. They were all selfish and were in it for themselves. How people can watch the show and feel sorry for any of them, is a sad indictment of how morals have changed.

Aiden was my favourite. But I always got the impression that Carrie thought that too- I haven’t watched for ages but I remember an episode where long after her and aiden had broken up she met him with his new baby in the baby carrier. Carrie and Big are suited to each other though. Aleksander Petrovski was the worst. When they went to Paris i just remember thinking he was awful.
I loved Miranda.
Charlottes first husband was nice, his mother bunny was awful!

I only started watching SATC halfway through, and I could never understand why Carrie bothered with Big, he was so uninterested in having a relationship with her.

But she was pretty relentless in her pursuit - turning up at church when he was there with his mother was cringe-makingly stalkerish!
