Is not getting far more media coverage?

OP posts:
CoffeeRunner · 10/08/2019 23:52

Let’s face it.

This disappearance is the same as MM’s - but without the parental neglect. Yet it isn’t being given anywhere near the same level of reporting.

Yes she’s 15. But a very vulnerable 15 year old with SEN.

Whattodoinleeds · 10/08/2019 23:54

This is so sad. It’s just my worst nightmare. I really hope they find her.

Whoops75 · 11/08/2019 00:01

Had she wandered off they should have found her by now.
Had she been abducted and put in a car she could be anywhere.

The family will have to do more press to keep the media interested and keep the local police motivated.

So awful
Come home soon Nóra

LittleDoritt · 11/08/2019 00:02

God, I hope they find her. I can't imagine what her parents must be feeling.

GoldenRule · 11/08/2019 00:11

Its such a sad story. I've seen a lot of media coverage about it. My heart goes out to the parents, it does sounds like an abduction sadly.

HennyPennyHorror · 11/08/2019 00:12

Funin re thermal imaging and helicopter, they're not always successful locating someone. Sometimes, the cover in a jungle would be too dense. Or the person is not alive and not giving out any heat. or they're gone in a vehicle.

Whoops75 · 11/08/2019 00:27

Was there something reported about the sniffer dogs losing her scent just outside?

HennyPennyHorror · 11/08/2019 00:32

Whoops yes there was. How that would happen though I don't know. It doesn't look the sort of place a car could pull up to.

isthatapugunicorn · 11/08/2019 00:42

it's everywhere. Hope they find her soon, can't begin to imagine what her family are going through.

EmeraldShamrock · 11/08/2019 04:53

I don't believe for a second she is lost, they know their child, they've repeatedly said she wouldn't go off alone.
I believe she was abducted.
I wake every morning to check for an update.
I agree it isn't getting enough coverage although it is so far away.
I haven't rtft as it's late I hope she is found soon.

zeezee3 · 11/08/2019 05:17

Every time I switch the news on I see Nora on there.

YABU @LEELULUMPKIN

And LOL at the posters saying they have not seen news coverage of her, then saying they don't watch the news!

Ummm, maybe try watching some news, and THEN deciding if her story has been covered enough!

@yesthatstheone

Because she's not a "cute" little 4 year old, doesn't make for good press. It's Shocking.

WTF? Confused

And as for THIS comment!

@joystir59

I have read that they haven't ruled out a criminal act. I was a bit suspicious of her father in the news interview, something about the way he kept stroking his wife's arm.

There's so much wrong with that sentence, that I don't know where to start. Confused

WTF is wrong with you?

ThatCurlyGirl · 11/08/2019 05:59

I definitely stand by the fact there was a lack of prominence of the case for the first few days and that while I couldn't quite put my finger on why, the fact is in my industry there's a terrible pressure on news teams to work under their bosses ' demands for things like social media images of girls around that age - totally wrong and disgusting.

However over the last few days it looks like efforts to keep going have really ramped up - let's pray it has a positive outcome I can't imagine what they are going through ☹️

endofthelinefinally · 11/08/2019 06:25

The Malaysian police will never change their stance on this being a missing person. Not an abduction.
To do so would be to lose face.
It doesn't matter how much the family thank them for all their hard work.
It is so sad. Valuable time has been lost.

iloveelephants2 I have been following this story. It's so sad. I hope they find Nora. She is so loved by all her family. You can see that.

neveradullmoment99 · 11/08/2019 10:04

@Iloveelephants2 nobody can tell her abilities through the press. Thank you for the insight. If she has been abducted god help her and her poor family. I just want to believe she is lost and not the unspeakable😰

EmeraldShamrock · 11/08/2019 12:12

The DM has stayed insistent she wouldn't go off alone, my own DD is 11, she would never ever even walk up the street alone.
The parents must be do frustrated with the police insisting it is a missing person case.

Thank goodness they have the support of the Lucie Blackman team they know only to well how a death is covered up abroad. Sad

EmeraldShamrock · 11/08/2019 12:18

I saw an update there an elite team if Irish Garda will be joining in the search.
I'm surprised Scotland yard didn't go last week in light of the evidence lost in Madeleine's case.

InTheHeatofLisbon · 11/08/2019 12:21

CoffeeRunner exactly!

OP I'm with you, I have children with disabilities and the story of Nora's mum making recordings to play while out searching saying "it's ok Nora, mummy's here" absolutely broke my heart. She can't sleep without cuddles either apparently, so her poor family must be absolutely out of their minds with worry.

I sincerely hope she is found, safe, very soon.

InTheHeatofLisbon · 11/08/2019 12:23

@joystir59 fuck is wrong with you? He's probably trying to comfort his distraught wife while they search for their missing, very vulnerable daughter.

You're a wrong yin if that's where your mind goes.

notacooldad · 11/08/2019 12:58

If I had to put ny two pennies in the hat I would guess that she possibly wondered off and an opportunist abduction.
My reason would be the family hadn't been there long enough for others to get acquainted or observe the family. If she had wandered I would guess she would have been spotted by a local at some point.
This is an incredibly harrowing situation and like everyone else i hope there is a good outcome soon.
I'm not sure i agree with the op about lack of coverage, it is everywhere.
I think there is a lot considering they are not British citizens and they are virtually half way across the world.
There are loads of kids her age that are vulnerable in different ways ( mainly cse) that appear on my local police fb page and dont get national attention.

EmeraldShamrock · 11/08/2019 13:03

A pp who knows the family has said she'd never wander off.
Her parents say she never goes anywhere alone, I find it hard to believe she suddenly gained the confidence to climb out a window and head in the jungle.
I have experience of a child who wont leave my side, to much experience A child like that doesn't wander off.
Then there is the scent trail, she couldn't disappear off land without a vehicle.
I wish their home countries police went in earlier to help.

EmeraldShamrock · 11/08/2019 13:07

Crazy to think they've live in London 20 years, the DM is from NI, catholic NI using their Irish passport.
If they were in the paper for winning an event they'd be named as British citizens.

Actually, my mistake over that. I had thought they were from Ireland and not NI.
That said there has been an awful lot if coverage. A vulnerable 17 year old went missing from my area a couple of months ago and it just had a couple of mentions on the regional news. His body was found and that was it.

All missing young people are not publicized equally.

IsobelRae23 · 11/08/2019 13:15

I don’t for one minute believe she climbed through a window and wondered into a forest by herself. I also believe that the police may have lost a lot in those first hours by believing just that.

🙏that she is found safe. I’ve been checking every hour for an update. But with each day that passes, Hope fades a little more. 💕
