Absolutely devastated, lost my beautiful engagement ring today. Wondering if somehow Mumsnet can work her magic to help me find it.

Attached pictures here.

I went to Dowe’s Gym for an hour and then went to the metro convenience store next to the Subway. Attached pictures here also.

Please please please let me find it Sad

This thread gave me chills! @hardheadedwoman you're a wonderful person! Xx

18YearsAMummy · 06/08/2019 18:41

Real or not, this thread made me smile.

But then I think, why would someone make something like this up? It’s pointless.

ArgumentativeAardvaark · 06/08/2019 18:43

@bluegirlgreen OP described it as “the Metro Convenience store next to the Subway. hardheadedwoman said she found it stuck in the rubber mat in the shop. That is the Google maps picture of a convenience store called Metro next to a branch of Subway. I know the area, used to get my lunch from that Subway after my antenatal appointments.

I get emails from Mumsnet solely directing me to AIBU, I look forward to a wee 5 minute read of the threads x so not so coincidental maybe?

@pepperpot99 (from 18.38.)

I seem to have lost a massive wad of £50 banknotes, btw, if anyone can help me find them... Wink

Is this your bundle of 50s?

I found them behind the vending machine in the Battersea Travelodge just 2 minutes ago. Shock

But that isn't what happened @bluegirlgreen. Hardheadedwoman saw the post, was in the area and went to have a look. She didn't find it, then come on here and happen to see the post.

itsnotawatercat · 06/08/2019 18:54

It seems like an amazing coincidence that someone found the OP's ring less than half an hour after the OP posted on here,. THEN they just happened to come onto this exact forum, and spot the thread!!! Out of the multiple dozens of pages on mumsnet, they came straight on here.

Seems very incredible and fantastic that this would happen.

But that's NOT what happened at all!

  1. The OP posted she'd lost her ring, and where she'd been. She put Archway in the thread title
  1. A MNer was on a bus to Archway at the time and saw the thread (the OP should give herself a massive pat on the back for putting Archway in the title, hardheadedwoman might not have noticed it otherwise
  1. hardheadedwoman said she'd look for it when she got off the bus
  1. hardheadedwoman went to where the OP said she'd been, and by using the amazing power of HER EYES and also LOOKING DOWN she saw where it had fallen, onto the rubber mat in the shop.
  1. hardheadedwoman posts pic here, OP and ring reunited
  1. OP's husband meddles with some odd idea that gin is weird. Gin is never weird!
  1. hardheadedwoman gets nice wine and fudge

Clear?

Wow! What a great thread! Well done @hardheadedwoman!

Best news ever! 😁

ArgumentativeAardvaark · 06/08/2019 18:59

I’m on the bus to archway would you like me to take a look?

What bit of that was unclear @bluegirlgreen?

Lou12124 · 06/08/2019 19:06

I cannot beleive how lucky you are to have got it back!!! So pleased for you. And what a kind lady to give it back!

Dagnabit · 06/08/2019 19:22

Bloody hell, people are so determined to be sceptical ...mumsnet bods have been on twice to vouch for the OP.

Coincidences do happen - a couple of years ago, someone posted about her boyfriend's ex being diagnosed as terminally ill and was worried about how to deal with it because they have two children. The ill person was my sister and the children, my niece and nephew. It's a small world!

Coffeeandcherrypie · 06/08/2019 19:25

@Enclume what does 'did myself a mischief mean'? I like it. But doesn't mean I farted? Peed in my pants a bit?

Redglitter · 06/08/2019 19:36

mumsnet bods have been on twice to vouch for the OP

All that means is the OP isn't a PBP or sock puppeting etc Doesn't mean what shes posting isn't made up.

WoollyMollyMonkey · 06/08/2019 19:37

Do yourself a mischief means hurt yourself in some way. It’s not at all rude! Grin

NoSauce · 06/08/2019 19:39

I do like that ring though.

hareagain · 06/08/2019 19:39

Don't just put the ring back on again!

This is far too short.

The full story is newly-widowed mumsnetter lost her engagement ring in Marble Arch (better ring to it-hahah!)
She posts and on a passing bus a young handsome young man is reading over his neighbours shoulder and realises he is about to get off.
Feeling at a loose end, he starts searching, and finds it. He takes it off to the jewellers to fix the loose stone (it's been loose since the dh died) and for a clean.
He arranged to meet the mumnsnetter to give it back and they promptly fall in love over a glass of gin.

I claim my 50% commission when you sell the story to Take a Break.
