Absolutely devastated, lost my beautiful engagement ring today. Wondering if somehow Mumsnet can work her magic to help me find it.

Attached pictures here.

I went to Dowe’s Gym for an hour and then went to the metro convenience store next to the Subway. Attached pictures here also.

Please please please let me find it Sad

Hoping it's true... hoping it's true...

NoSauce · 06/08/2019 09:08

I can’t remember the exact details regarding zombie but it was nothing at all like this. I don’t understand the poster that said it was.

There was a thread where someone ( I think it might have been someone with a dramatic posting history ) was posting about their situation and now they were in some kind of threat. I can’t remember whether she was in an abusive relationship or was saying she was ill, Zombie said she would drive to this posters house, it was late and quite a way from where she lived. Lots of posters were saying don’t go, you don’t know if this person is genuine and there were some saying she should.

Iirc I think Zombie regretted taking this action and admitted it wasn’t the best idea. It was a long time ago so there’s probably some big gaps in my version so if anyone remembers it as it was feel free to correct me.

jesuschristwtf · 06/08/2019 09:15

Was zombie the lovely lady that passed away from cancer? If so - I remember a little bit of that thread.

ArgumentativeAardvaark · 06/08/2019 09:25

It’s definitely true if it was a shop and not a bank, then.

Well, actually, @colourlessgreenidea it does make it more likely- shops like that often have bits of uneven mat and rubber at the door, closely packed shelves that things can roll underneath, and the OP’s brother was probably pulling his wallet out of his pocket as he went in. Compared to a wide open bank with flush floor surface and open space that would make it easier to hear the ring dropping to the floor.

MrsJamieFraser2 · 06/08/2019 09:27

Why are people so cynical?! I wouldn't have thought for one moment that it wasn't real, but now people are comparing photos and nail size and the like. Bonkers.

NoSauce · 06/08/2019 09:31

jesuschristwtf yes that was Zombie.

tellelle · 06/08/2019 09:34

Am I being stupid? What would be the benefit of making it up?

Terrysyogurt · 06/08/2019 09:45

What on earth would be the motivation to make up something like this?

I agree Enclume, it’s just ridiculous now. I don’t know why I bother to report anymore. I don’t feel it does any good and it’s demoralising being told by mnhq that they’ll take a look and nothing seems to be done about it.

The amount of trolls and cranks on MN now is depressingly large and the majority of posters are either blissfully unaware or blissfully ignoring the fact.

Reallybadidea · 06/08/2019 10:05

Motivation? Well getting your made-up thread in the Daily Mail is a kind of fame I suppose. I definitely think the number of trolls has increased since they started making threads into "news".

Redglitter · 06/08/2019 10:05

Have you not seen the amount of troll threads on MN. People make up threads about all kinds of things

QuimReaper · 06/08/2019 10:09

I actually think trollers might have dragged it out more!

ThomasFurious · 06/08/2019 10:15

I am sobbing and shaking and even did myself a mischief. What the hell is doing yourself a mischief?

I'm a bit worried by the number of posters who don't understand how many trolls there are here now since penis beaker

Redglitter · 06/08/2019 10:20

@ThomasFurious I think that particular comment was tongue in cheek 🤭

YAY!!

ShirleyPhallus · 06/08/2019 12:09

@NoCauseRebel so what was the outcome? Did she rescue the poster or did it turn out to be a hoax?

myusernameisnotmyusername · 06/08/2019 12:11

This thread has really made me smile on an otherwise shitty day. Amazing! I'm so glad it's been found.

Sagradafamiliar · 06/08/2019 12:16

I won't have a bad word said about Zombie. She is no longer with us, why would you bring up something completely irrelevant just to finger wag for fuck sake? Shameful and disgraceful.

Oblomov19 · 06/08/2019 12:17

This has got to be the best MN thread in ages. Grin Well done HardHeadedWoman!!

Oblomov19 · 06/08/2019 12:19

Please don't post nasty things about old posters. I was around MN for 15 years and read DWP posts all the time. I have no idea what happened at the end. But to post such drivel about an old poster is unfair.

MichaelMumsnet · 06/08/2019 12:19

Hi all,
Just a quick note to say we've had a good look behind the scenes and as far as we can tell, it all looks fine to us.
(We've also removed some of the worst trollhunting posts - if you have any worries about either people or posts, then please just hit the report button and we'll be happy to take a look).
