Correctly addressed to our house. Inside just the brief note, and two feathers. I'm pretty sure it's not meant for anyone here, no return address, very curious about its meaning though.

I think we need the OP back 🤔

Maybe it's from an older confused person.

I saw Katrina (now wave less) at a local concert a couple of weeks ago. As far as I remember she made no reference to feathers.

Was there a stamp on the envelope? If so, what does the postmark say?

BettySundaes · 04/08/2019 23:09

OP here - sorry for the absence - busy weekend.

To answer some of the questions: this was NOT a hand delivered letter, that really would be creepy. Handwritten envelope, same pen as the note itself, 2nd class stamp, no postmark (do the PO still do these?). Given no names are mentioned, my guess is the intended recipient lives alone and letter was meant for their eyes only.

Love some of the "interpretations" here that it was correctly addressed - if only my life weren't really so dull I might give a nod to some, but to answer a few; we have very solid walls so never any noise complaints and even our cat is a real pussy and no bird catcher.

Obviously if further missives are received I will be straight back on here to update.

Has anyone in your household had a letter published in a newspaper?
I got letters from insane randomers after having a letter in the Times.

Do the colours of the feathers mean anything?

We know the history of white feathers .... just a thought

Have you or someone nearby pruned a tree in nesting season? My neighbour pruned his side of the high hedge while the birds were nesting and the blackbird, and they have a lovely long sticky up tail, I have been feeding since it was a fledgeling last year and now has her own nest appeared without a tail. It has been cut right off. That was in May and it still has not grown back. It is a criminal offence to disturb nesting birds from April to end August. It is actually a custodial offence. Perhaps the feathers are for that, but as I cannot read the note I cannot be sure.

Why has this thread gone quiet?! I need answers!! 😂

I'd love to know what is behind this note!
A friend and I were discussing basing a novel on it!
Perhaps a letter that should have been delivered in 1940s and referring to adultery with Katrina was our guess
