www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-7298013/Meghan-Markles-organic-baby-shawl-used-swaddle-Archie-workers-earning-37-PENCE-hour.html

This is there top story. Meghan is using a cheap shawl & DM have found the factory it was made in.

She’s been criticised non stop for her spending, uses something cheap and the DM visit the sweatshop it was made in! I’m sorry but we are all guilty of this, very few people I’m sure track down where everything they buy is made and how much the staff are paid.

It’s just getting ridiculous how they’ll find literally anything to criticise.

If the DM want to expose sweat shops (something they care little about usually) they have the resources and man power to do so but they don’t give a shit they just want to go after Meghan.

Oh hang in sorry that was a different shawl!

PinguDance · 30/07/2019 17:08

although despite my error about the Shawl I definitely did see an article in the DM praising Kate for dressing her kids in H&M. Meghan is being held to an absurd standard.

EmeraldShamrock · 30/07/2019 17:10

I hope she is strong enough to ignore the papers, they won't be satisfied until they have them under severe stress.

MrsVanCleef · 30/07/2019 17:34

I just read the most DISGUSTING comment ever. In the Mail.
The person said the baby Archie is retarded and then went to say the Royal Family should 'do' another 'Paris'.
First of all, as a mother of a child with special needs, I found that comment sickening and then second- how can they go as far as wanting Meghan dead?!
Can't someone like OFCOM stop this?

KateWrong · 30/07/2019 17:54

@MrsVanCleef this is why I stopped reading DM.... absolutely disgusting. I hope you reported the comment Sad

ShirleyPhallus · 30/07/2019 17:56

To be fair, you get trolls absolutely everywhere - on mumsnet we have had similar

Just report the comment, it’s a troll being a troll. DM will delete it and offcom wouldn’t care

Encyclo · 30/07/2019 18:34

I think the story’s been taken down. I can’t see it on the front page.

IdaBWells · 30/07/2019 19:52

This shawl business shows very clearly that the DM are generating hated for MM, because it is clearly so ridiculous.

Their normal party line is that SHE is making terrible mistake after terrible mistake but this current story is a dead giveaway at how they are manufacturing outrage.

LizzieSiddal · 30/07/2019 20:11

They are being dispicable towards her. She’s not white and a Canadian, so the hate is doubled up.
However the press always have a go at female royal “incomes”, Kate being to two recent examples. The press criticised “waity Katie” and her family for years, as soon as Meghan came along, all the nastiness is directed at Meghan.

LizzieSiddal · 30/07/2019 20:12

*incomers

BertrandRussell · 30/07/2019 20:14

I’ve been around a long time- and I’ve seen nothing like the MM stuff. Nothing.

NoLeopard · 30/07/2019 20:22

The press vilified Diana when she got with Dodi.
Have you ever seen this? It's part of a column Private Eye published the week after her death showing the vile comments that went out or were due to go out by journalists on 31st August. The sycophantic claptrap that replaced it once the various publications realised what had happened was sickening. I remember it well. Harry probably can't believe that nothing's changed.

NoLeopard · 30/07/2019 20:24

Ignore me, it won't let me post the photo.

I think the Diana/Dodi scandal was also based in racism because he was Muslim.

Tellmetruth4 · 30/07/2019 20:34

There are some proper jealous, insecure and spiteful people in the DM comments section. You can almost imagine the rage they feel as this divorced, non white American woman nabs a prince whilst they live a bitter existence full of unfulfilled dreams. They furiously type their bile mouthing the words simultaneously whilst spittle flies form their mouths. They spend a few minutes writing the most nasty thing they can conjure up and they press ‘post’. They then feel an almost orgasmic sense of release that they’ve momentarily transferred their rage and ‘hurt’ and disappointment with life on to someone who appears to have it all and who’s currently fashionable to hate amongst the no-marks.

However, as much as she must know she’s unpopular with a certain section of the public, I’m certain she doesn’t scroll through comments sections so the trolls are wasting their time.

Off track a bit but how does DM get away with allowing such venom to be posted on their site? I very rarely go on it but was excited to see what each off the papers were saying about the cricket world cup win and one of the top rated comments was someone saying he was glad they had won because he wanted to see ‘proper sport’ in the paper as he had been sick to death of the PC coverage of the womens World Cup and nobody wanted to see it. Hundreds of people had liked it. Strange people have accounts on that site.

Encyclo · 30/07/2019 20:34

I remember Carole Malone’s column. It was in the papers that Sunday. I read it while watching Princess Diana’s body being shipped home. She wrote a seriously grovelling piece the following week which basically said, “I never would have written it had I known she was going to die. Imagine my horror when she did.”

NoLeopard · 30/07/2019 20:41

Can't believe she's still spouting rubbish to this day. Horrible woman

ScreamingValenta · 30/07/2019 20:41

There were lots of red-faced journalists the weekend of Diana's death. John Peel wrote a column for the Radio Times back in 1997 and had the misfortune to have written something unflattering about Diana in the issue that came out the weekend she died. A couple of weeks later he included an explanation that the column was written about a fortnight in advance and thus his comments hadn't been intentionally in poor taste - at least he didn't grovel, though.

gingerbreadsprinkle · 30/07/2019 20:48

Tellmetruth4

I completely agree.

I imagine those commenters are the type who cry while staring at the mirror and shout, "It should have been me Harry! It should have been ME!!!" They are all very personally offended because a woman who they think is below them (mixed, American, older, divorced) has nabbed their personal Cinderella story away. It would have been OK in their minds if Harry picked a woman that represented them (white and English) but choosing Meghan was a personal insult.

And now Meghan rubs salt in their wounds by trying to be good. To take up causes! Who the fuck does she think she is?

Meghan has turned in to the Daily Mail commentators' bitch eating crackers.

derxa · 30/07/2019 20:49

Oh Diana I miss you

derxa · 30/07/2019 21:00

If meghan could focus on a meaningful cause she could do so much good. FGM for instance

Jade218 · 30/07/2019 21:05

I agree u was absolutes disgusted when I read it. Beyond belief.

I really hope Meghan doesn't read anything about herself or google herself. She's one strong beautiful woman, and even more strong if she does!

Jsmith99 · 30/07/2019 21:23

The DM is one of the most popular newspapers in the U.K., and the only one with a predominately female readership. Mail Online is one of the most popular news websites in the world, featuring content mainly aimed at women (apart from the sport, obv).

Why do so many women apparently want to read sexist, misogynistic content which criticises, objectifies, ridicules, body-shames and undermines other women?

LizzieSiddal · 30/07/2019 21:34

NoLeopard those comments are just awful. The press really did have their knives out for her, as they did to Fergie and now for Meghan.
