The absolute state of the Daily Mail (re Meghan Markle)

www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-7298013/Meghan-Markles-organic-baby-shawl-used-swaddle-Archie-workers-earning-37-PENCE-hour.html

This is there top story. Meghan is using a cheap shawl & DM have found the factory it was made in.

She’s been criticised non stop for her spending, uses something cheap and the DM visit the sweatshop it was made in! I’m sorry but we are all guilty of this, very few people I’m sure track down where everything they buy is made and how much the staff are paid.

It’s just getting ridiculous how they’ll find literally anything to criticise.

If the DM want to expose sweat shops (something they care little about usually) they have the resources and man power to do so but they don’t give a shit they just want to go after Meghan.

So George and Amal Clooney, those z listers, are piggybacking on the RF..

GlitchStitch · 02/08/2019 15:07

The Clooneys are massive hypocrites too, George is always going on about climate change whilst flying about regularly on his private jet. Most preachy celebs are hypocrites though I find.

separatelives · 02/08/2019 15:07

Significantly less than the Cambridges spent on Kensington Palace. Wasn’t that closer to 6m? And there was Amner- with the tennis court being moved a foot to the left or whatever it was......
That doesn't justify it, comparing other big spends. I remember ranting on here years ago about the Cambridge s new kitchen. There was MASSIVE criticism at the time and rightly so.
No point then and no point now in mentioning other big royal spends. We'd be here all day. Harry is only 6th in line to the throne too we have to remember.

BertrandRussell · 02/08/2019 15:08

@BertrandRussell wondering why you have such adoration? Genuine question.”

No adoration. Just a dislike of unfairness. And snobbery and (on occasion) racism. And I think she will do good things.

LaMarschallin · 02/08/2019 15:10

I didn’t follow that. Why isn’t she allowed to be friends with Amal again?
Oh! I didn't realise that was a reply to me. I didn't say she wasn't.
I just wondered what "a while" was.

In the great scheme of things I know it doesn't matter.

Didn't mean to Confused you.

BertrandRussell · 02/08/2019 15:10

Out of interest, is there anyone who is allowed to speak out about the environment or climate change?

GlitchStitch · 02/08/2019 15:12

Yes, anybody who doesn't have a massive unnecessary carbon footprint.

TelAvivLastNight · 02/08/2019 15:13

@BertrandRussell maybe someone who doesn't class private jets as a primary mode of transport

FreshFreesias · 02/08/2019 15:16

Perhaps someone who doesn't send their helicopter pilot to do their grocery shopping 😁

BertrandRussell · 02/08/2019 15:16

Name some people!

BertrandRussell · 02/08/2019 15:17

“Perhaps someone who doesn't send their helicopter pilot to do their grocery shopping”

Loving this one. Do we have a source? It seems wildly inconvenient- I thought they used Ocado.

LaMarschallin · 02/08/2019 15:18

So George and Amal Clooney, those z listers, are piggybacking on the RF..

Or VV.

Kudos comes from different things and I'm sure a royal friendship does no harm to the Clooneys.

More likely they only found out about Meghan's good works and influence once she became more well known and wanted to get to know her better because of them.

separatelives · 02/08/2019 15:34

No adoration. Just a dislike of unfairness. And snobbery and (on occasion) racism. And I think she will do good things.

Well time will tell, but regarding fairness. I presume you mean Kate didn't get criticised as much perhaps? Well that's probably so, but they are two different people. Just because they both married prunes doesn't mean they should be judged the same. But I'm glad you said "racism on occasion." I agree there will be racists out there, whose opinions count for nothing but bigoted hate. But I think the majority of opinions are based on how people perceive her as a person. I don't think because she IS mixed race she can do no wrong.

NoTheresa · 02/08/2019 15:34

@BertrandRussell

“Couldn't be further from the truth.”

So you’be bought the Daiky Mail spin too........

People are quite capable of reading something and judging it for themselves. You know that very well, presumably.

separatelives · 02/08/2019 15:36

Prunes? princes obviously. Smile

LaMarschallin · 02/08/2019 15:55

Prunes? princes obviously.

One of my favourite typos/autocorrects ever Smile

(Or was it a Freudian slip...?)

separatelives · 02/08/2019 15:57

Bertrand Russell Apart from those things you listed about unfairness etc....it's not as if MM is badly done to. She's married into the royal family and as such enjoys all the riches and privilege that goes with it. Compared to millions of women across the world she has a life of ease, no money worries, no worry for the future for herself and her children.

There's a lot of unfairness in the world. The only unfairness is the royal family itself. It's wrong on every single level. But life really hasn't been unfair to Meghan Markle. Beauty, brains and married a prince. She isn't doing bad.

@MauritiusNext

What a prat Harry is.

How can be out his name to this ?? Private jets again!!

It really is ludicrous. He needs to engage his brain; surely it can’t be that difficult to grasp the inappropriateness?

I just read M&S have reported a nearly 2% increase in shares since Meghan's collaboration was announced. If she single-handedly revives their fortunes then surely even the Daily Mail couldn't find fault??

Ah yes, the queen's "frugality"......only when it comes to paying her staff it seems
Yes don't they get minimum wage? It did make me laugh when I read they got Tesco Christmas puddings as their Christmas bonus! I bet the Royals didn't sit down to Tesco Christmas Pudding Grin.
