www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-7298013/Meghan-Markles-organic-baby-shawl-used-swaddle-Archie-workers-earning-37-PENCE-hour.html

This is there top story. Meghan is using a cheap shawl & DM have found the factory it was made in.

She’s been criticised non stop for her spending, uses something cheap and the DM visit the sweatshop it was made in! I’m sorry but we are all guilty of this, very few people I’m sure track down where everything they buy is made and how much the staff are paid.

It’s just getting ridiculous how they’ll find literally anything to criticise.

If the DM want to expose sweat shops (something they care little about usually) they have the resources and man power to do so but they don’t give a shit they just want to go after Meghan.

Also, apologising for saying this shit does not make it ok.

Fair enough but better to apologise than pretend it never happened.

Laverne Cox though, that inclusion is very Hmm

Puzzledandpissedoff · 31/07/2019 14:02

Support or lack thereof, of “isms”, population control, environmental policy and the way we live our lives is blatant politics. If they like politics so much, ditch the royal role and stand for election
But they won’t. Because they love the trappings , the lack of be need to be unaccountable, and lap up the cap doffing respect they get from many which allows them to continue to pedal their nonsense

Beautifully put

Unfortunately Harry's becoming more like his ghastly father with every passing day

CoolCarrie · 31/07/2019 14:04

There is nothing racist in mentioning that anti FGM would be a great cause for Meghan to endorse! It effects black, and Muslim girls the world over, including the UK. It’s is a female issue, a feminist issue and as a mixed race woman she would be well placed to add her voice and support to Waris Dirie, who is a model and activist from Somali, who herself has suffered FGM, so fuck off with your shade about it being a racist comment!

LaMarschallin · 31/07/2019 14:09

Just to say that I think it was a mistake for Harry to put a number on the amount of children they plan to have.
It probably was a spur of the moment, jokey reply (although you'd think he'd have copy approval, what with knowing the editor and all, so perhaps could have modified it before it got into print).
But, if they do now have a third child, the poor creature will be labelled by the media as a mistake/contraception failure. Not nice for any child.

I'm a black woman and I am fed up to the back teeth of seeing black female performers including Rihanna being so sexually overt in their performances. I am fed up of all female performers, Ariande etc doing so irrespective of colour, but as a black women it is especially annoying to me because we're fetishised enough without them perpetuating it. I do not consider them good role models for my daughters. I think they send a harmful message to young girls and boys.

I think it is misogyny that despite having real talent women feel they can only be ultra sucessful by acting in ways that cater to mens sexual predilections. I don't know if its just the industry that requires it or what it is, but I agree with Jameela's comments on that one. Someone needs to say it.

julensaor · 31/07/2019 14:27

Really? I thought the remit of her role was to visit places, open things, attend things, chat to people, be patron of things.....What else is she supposed to be doing?

Your remit involves what you are supposed to be doing but also what you are NOT supposed to be doing, how the hell do people need that spelled out to them. If you are the CEO of a company there are things you do to fulfil that role, there are things you can't do without undermining the structure that pays you.

julensaor · 31/07/2019 14:29

Oh and I assume you also think Kate, Harry and Charles are exploiting the “rags” they guest-edited for publicity too

When did they 'guest-edit' the rag in question?

julensaor · 31/07/2019 14:31

The whole guest edit of Vogue by a highly wealthy ex-movie actress turned aristocrat to push a social agenda that she is the living embodiment of the opposite of? Getting hubs to talk about responsible family planning to save the planet whilst jetting around the globe

That sums it up better than I have.

justasking111 · 31/07/2019 14:32

@CatherineOfAragonsPrayerBook there is a sickness in the whole industry. Miley Cyrus twerking. Brittany being starved by her family to stay thin, sex runs these industries, these industries are run by men, women of all races are being used and abused.

BertrandRussell · 31/07/2019 14:33

“Your remit involves what you are supposed to be doing but also what you are NOT supposed to be doing, how the hell do people need that spelled out to them.”

I’m aware of this. The problem is that nobody ever say wht she has done that she shouldn’t. Or when they do it turns out to be something that all other royal people do, like spending money on a house, or something made up by the press. Or something like “no pictures of the baby” when there were actually, I think, 1 less picture than there were of the Cambridge babies, and one of them was a spectacular one including her maj and Prince Philip.

Oh, hang on! Didn’t she fail to call her 6 year old nephew His Royal Highness?

I take it all back. Shocking behaviour!

I think the more time goes on, the more people will see MM as a force for good in the stuffy Royal family.
I totally disagree with the privilege and entitlement given to royalty but if she's trying to do some good all power to her.
Anyone who is sniffy about her just looks plain daft.

SamanthaBrique · 31/07/2019 15:41

I prefer royals like Andrew tbh, he's over privileged and a baffoon but doesnt try to be anything else

If we're talking "vile misogynists" then it doesn't get much worse than Andrew's mate, the convicted paedo...

Ivegotthree · 31/07/2019 15:46

I think we SHOULD care about the appalling conditions in sweatshops.

It's not okay.

julensaor · 31/07/2019 15:59

@joyfullittlehippo

Goodness gracious, somebody likes their Vogue 🤪
Eat your own biscuit pet.

SamanthaBrique · 31/07/2019 16:00

Of course it isn't okay @Ivegotthree. But the Mail ran that story purely to attack Meghan, not out of concern for the workers. And if you read the story you'll see it isn't a "sweatshop" - the workers are paid the equivalent of the Living Wage and working conditions are far better than in actual sweatshops.

SamanthaBrique · 31/07/2019 16:03

@julensaor But in the fashion world
Vogue is prestigious. @joyfullittlehippo was just stating a fact.

julensaor · 31/07/2019 16:08

@julensaor But in the fashion world. Vogue is prestigious.

Didn't realise this thread was about fashion.

julensaor · 31/07/2019 16:09

Meghan would be better placed in the National Enquirer on that logic.

SamanthaBrique · 31/07/2019 16:11

You're not really making any sense.

NoLeopard · 31/07/2019 16:12

Oh dear mauritius I don't know where to start with that load of rubbish you just posted!
