Can't be be done for Section 5 offences? Does he not work? He seems to be there on a permanent. Free speech is all very well, but it's driving me mad!

@NoTheresa. Of course it's intrusive. That is the whole point.

NoTheresa · 25/07/2019 15:01

I know that’s the point. Can’t even hear what he is trying to say, though, which makes his efforts a bit redundant. He is just blurry noise.

Lindy2 · 25/07/2019 15:11

I ‘m quite enjoying the glockenspiel . Yesterday he was playing the Mr Benn music behind channel 4 news

That's hilarious 😂
I will be looking out for him on the news. I usually watch BBC news. Do I need to switch to Sky and Ch4 to spot him?

zonkin · 25/07/2019 15:16

He might be blurry noise to you, but most people seem to know that he's the anti-Brexit man. Other than the noise he gets quite a few visuals in too. His efforts aren't redundant.

And now you do know who he is - you came to this thread because you knew who we were talking about. Now you know what he is talking about. Job done.

bellinisurge · 25/07/2019 15:16

Does he do requests? Terry and June theme tune would be great if anyone is in contact with him.
Loved the Mr Benn tune.

sweeneytoddsrazor · 25/07/2019 15:16

Shouty man is great. Good luck to him.

sweeneytoddsrazor · 25/07/2019 15:19

Glockenspiel man should take requests.
George and Mildred theme tune would be fitting.

SummerSeasoning · 25/07/2019 15:20

Simple answer I won't because I'm not a shouty loudmouth and my preference is to LISTEN to a variety of points of view.

I have no wish to harm this person or have him arrested but I find it mildly irritating that I can't hear the opinions I am tuning for.

Like I said earlier I have stopped watching so I am just time wasting in hot weather currently. Is it hot where you are?

TuesdaySunshine · 25/07/2019 15:23

Section 5 of the Public Order Act requires that he should harrass, alarm or distress people. So there's no justification to arrest him. I admire anyone who is engaged in persistent, peaceful protest in Westminster day after day. He treats it like a full-time job and the fact that we're talking about him is testament to the effectiveness of his campaign.

I also have great admiration for the Greenpeace protestors in the Mall yesterday. It takes some guts to stand your ground as a police outrider speeds towards you.

I feel quite embarrassed at how little, by comparison, I am doing to take a stand against the unfolding catastrophe of British and world politics right now.

Cheeserton · 25/07/2019 15:23

I'm glad we tend not to arrest people for protesting in our country. Sorry you find him annoying. I find Brexit annoying. And plenty of other stuff.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 25/07/2019 15:29

I have admiration too for the Greenpeace protestors. It was so sudden and unexpected. The police man cannoned them out of the way. Wonder what BJ thought in the car. His big moment ruined.

SummerSeasoning · 25/07/2019 15:31

I admire people working on things but I find protesters annoying, sorry.

I say this as someone who did go on protests and demos in the past. A family member congratulated me on "actually doing something" at which point I felt an enormous Fraudy McFraud and promptly gave it up: I feel better for it.

CorBlimeyGovenor · 25/07/2019 15:33

My favourite quote from him, when interviewed, is that: "I always put in 100%"! You can't fault him for that! 😁

SummerSeasoning · 25/07/2019 15:34

You see I just find I am embarrassed for him.

bellinisurge · 25/07/2019 15:36

Oo @sweeneytoddsrazor George and Mildred is a good call.
Obviously the Jaws Theme but that's too easy.

AlunWynsKnee · 25/07/2019 15:43

Pease I said it was the Mr Benn music and DH gave me the Hmm face but I'm not going madGrin

zonkin · 25/07/2019 15:44

@SummerSeasoning it is hot where I am. It's no secret from this thread where I might be passing through on a daily basis.

Protesters can be annoying. But you notice them. If nobody stood up and objected we might as well just give up and swallow whatever crap the government come out with. His actions and actions of other protesters have caused debate and discussion, and media attention. I bet loads of people who don't pass through Westminster every day know of Brexit man.

The reason that several "fringe" groups have garnered a lot of media and MP attention lately is because they actually do protest and go to meet with their MPs. The majority just can't be bothered.

If you feel better for giving up protesting, good for you. But don't moan years down the line when the time for change is long gone.

And why is Brexit man's opinion worth any less than any of the reporters' opinions? Or an MP's opinion? Since when did MPs and reporters become automatically "more knowledgeable" - which is clearly an inference from this thread?

zonkin · 25/07/2019 15:47

@SummerSeasoning I don't think he'll mind that you feel embarrassed for him. He'd probably feel sympathy to you for just toeing the line. However, I don't really know. I might be projecting my own thoughts onto him....

Heshimiracle · 25/07/2019 15:47

I love Steve Bray, yes he's crowd funded and rents a flat just around the corner from Smog! 😆

Manclife1 · 25/07/2019 15:51

OP do you even know what the definition (and therefore points to prove at court are) for s5 Public Order? I don’t think you do.

zonkin · 25/07/2019 15:52

@Heshimiracle - I know, it's funny. JRM even greets him sometimes Grin

He didn't start off as crowdfunded though. I'm glad he is though.

notangelinajolie · 25/07/2019 15:52

I just turn the sound off and put subtitles on I actually think he is unwittingly helping the Brexit cause by being perceived as a bonkers Remainer.

He tweeted a few days ago that he'd been told by police to move on and not come back. Clearly he's sought advice and is back.

I wonder what he will shout when we've left.

zonkin · 25/07/2019 15:57

@notangelinajolie You might want to look a bit closer to our new parliament for some bonkers people

Mrsjayy · 25/07/2019 16:01

Ive not heardthe glokenspiel is he just on ch4 ? We either watch Bbc or STV news

notangelinajolie · 25/07/2019 16:07

@zonkin

Hehe no he is definitely the most bonkers Smile
