I'm from a very pro- leave area (Cornwall) but the folk who voted to leave just don't seem to grasp we've just thrown a lot down the drain. We're in receipt of almost a billion in EU funding but it seems nobody bothered to check that before blindly selling us up the khyber and very much doubt the government are not going to replace that funding.
With boris and brexit I despair I really do

crazycurry · 23/07/2019 13:05

I voted for him so I’m pleased
I voted for him, brilliant news that he won grin.

@beerandbiscuits @Conkeee what the fuck did you do that for?

Yeah, blame Labour.

Just how DOES David Cameron sleep at night?

Because he doesn't give a shit. A clear case of 'I'm alright Jack'

@Milktraylimebarrel - have you always been so deluded?

Have I got news for you have a lot to answer for.

noodlenosefraggle · 23/07/2019 13:05

Because Swinson thinks Corbyn is pro-brexit.
She's right there. If Labour are going to campaign for a second referendum and to remain, they need someone to convince the Brexit supporting Labour supporters why they should vote for them, not the Brexit Party. They need to do what Labour have spectacularly failed to do for over 3 years and tell people what the benefits of EU membership are for them. Not the Islington champagne socialists who are already remain voting.

User8888888 · 23/07/2019 13:05

His speech was awful. We’re doomed. What I don’t understand though is why all the resignations from remainder ministers. Surely they’d have more chance of swaying things if they are in cabinet rather than out?

Cinammoncake · 23/07/2019 13:05

Good - I like him and I think you may find he will surprise you all and do a good job!

It would indeed be a surprise

derxa · 23/07/2019 13:06

SkelterHelter · 23/07/2019 13:06

There was a thread recently including comments from people who had worked with Boris. I'm hanging on to some of those opinions which said that Boris is really lazy and gets others to make decisions and do the work. Let's hope he appoints done decent people around him, otherwise

CuriousaboutSamphire · 23/07/2019 13:06

If all this negotiation had happened before opening it up to a referendum, and people could see the shambles and understand what’s actually involved / at stake, do you honestly think that Leave would have won? Of course not. No, I think that had there been any discussion, publicity, real information, beforehand Cameron wouldn't have done it at all!

SkelterHelter · 23/07/2019 13:06

Oops posted too soon. Otherwise we are stuffed.....

WoollyMollyMonkey · 23/07/2019 13:07

Yes it’s that fuckwit David Cameron we have to thank for this dismal mess. God help us with BJ in charge. We seem to have crossed over into a dystopian world. Sad

CuriousaboutSamphire · 23/07/2019 13:08

... and nobody voted for Boris to be next Prime Minister. They voted for him to be leader of the Conservative Party... if you are going to rely on technicalities!

We seem to have crossed over into a dystopian world We do. As as every single Brexit post has ever shown, here on MN, many people are only too willing to turn and destroy their perceived opponents!

Thank goodness it is only on t'internet!

Then again... it WILL spill out into the streets, no matter what the outcome! We all need to consider that eventuality!

derxa · 23/07/2019 13:11

What is the point of weeping and wailing and threatening to leave the country? Utterly pointless

DobbyTheHouseElk · 23/07/2019 13:11

Farage has been on the news. He says that of Boris fails, that will be the end of the Conservative party. There will be a GE and the brexit party will get in power.

To me that’s terrifying.

What I struggle to understand is how on earth we (the Voting Public ) dont get a say in who our future PM will be!.A tiny minority of fully paid up members of the Tory Party
To be fair, we are a Parliamentary democracy, so we never vote for the Prime Minister. We vote for our representatives in Parliament, then the leader of the largest party automatically becomes PM.

firstimemamma · 23/07/2019 13:13

Shit!

RosaWaiting · 23/07/2019 13:13

I'm working and haven't seen it

why was he shouting "dude" please?!

NaughtToThreeSadOnions · 23/07/2019 13:14

*Jesus I;m not a boris fan but that is just so fucking lazy

They have absolutely NOTHING in common apart from what they look like*

They have a great deal in common, their looks just make it slightly funny, or it was 6 years ago!!

They are both morally suspect power hungry indervidals with rather suspect rationship witb wonen

But poltically they were slightly amusing figures in the sidelines as in they wete always there pushing their quirky personalities, we always knew they wanted power but it was never going to happen. For goodness sake trump had walk on parts in home alone 2 and johnson was a staple of late 90/early 2000 HIGNFY. even the simpsons thought Trump was funny.

Then trump started spouting very outraguous right wing verging on extremism views and the disalusioned "working class" for some reason labeled this man a hero and the support grow for him.

Similarally johnson distanced himself from his comic past and started alligning himself with the right wing 9f british polatics.

What we now have is two racist homophobic sexist narcassists who are the leaders of two of the biggest powers in the western world

Brilliant.

Lets home its not too windy up in troon next time trump visits his golf course there might be an international hair incedent. You hage to laugh or you'd cry!!

And no OP YANU

Roussette · 23/07/2019 13:14

Good - I like him and I think you may find he will surprise you all and do a good job!

Doubtful. And that's being polite

I'm hanging on to some of those opinions which said that Boris is really lazy and gets others to make decisions and do the work
Trump off to a T again.

OtraCosaMariposa · 23/07/2019 13:15

I know one person who is absolutely delighted. Nicola Sturgeon. I can practically hear her toasting his appointment from here. Her and her nationalist mates couldn't have asked for anything better. He's a gift ro her cause and it won't be long before she starts kicking off about "tories" and "eton posh boys" and "westmonster" and stirring up the anti-English stuff more and more.

We're still recovering from the first independence referendum. The second would totally tear us apart.

Although to be fair, I think Ms Sturgeon would be happy with any upper middle class, educated, well-spoken Southerner as PM. Plays perfectly into her "ooooo look at them, so out of touch, don't understand Scotland seeing as we're so different and all". Hmm

LaurieMarlow · 23/07/2019 13:15

the brexit party will get in power.

Well this is staggeringly unlikely. Do they even have any MPs?

Saucery · 23/07/2019 13:15

Nah. I loathe Labour’s current leadership and the Lib Dem’s for their stance on defining ‘woman’ but that’s where my line would be - choosing Farage over them. It would be difficult but I’d hold my nose and vote away from that lot.

NaughtToThreeSadOnions · 23/07/2019 13:15

There will be a GE and the brexit party will get in power. To me that’s terrifying
No it really is terrifying
