Ignoring my invitation to explain your defence of Johnson's racist comments, then?

Ignoring your misrepresentation of Johnson’s comments when he was ridiculing the monarchy, which anyone with the ability to comprehend the English language would see if they read it in context you mean. Yes. Yes I am.

Shortstuff99 · 24/07/2019 09:11

I think you need to read a few MN relationship threads Shortstuff, where you will be able to read about ex 'D'H's clearing off, and not paying a penny in maintenance by managing to hide their assets.

For every terrible one of those, there are how many people that just decide to have too many kids that they can’t afford or outside of a suitable stable relationship. Lots of guess.

The argument is a total red herring from the original point and likely a minority of such cases.

It is the direct quote from Johnson's Daily Telegraph column. The words he actually wrote. I haven't misrepresented anything. You can't defend it because it is indefensible. But you don't have the guts to own your own mistakes do you? Instead you resort to 'fake news'.

As I said, I'm not surprised.

Shortstuff99 · 24/07/2019 09:18

If you care, read it again. He was ridiculing the monarchy and commonwealth and their anachronisms. It’s not difficult. Maybe it’s above you.

Shortstuff99 · 24/07/2019 09:19

remember you wouldn't take the pay cut

What on Earth are you going on about now

Shortstuff99 · 24/07/2019 09:19

derxa hilarious that you’re complaining about echo chamber in an echo chamber

Peregrina · 24/07/2019 09:24

He was ridiculing the monarchy and commonwealth and their anachronisms.

I wonder how the Queen feels about being ridiculed? Perhaps she will remind him today?

derxa · 24/07/2019 09:31

derxa hilarious that you’re complaining about echo chamber in an echo chamber I know Grin

Well indeed, I think we can all see that he was attempting to ridicule Blair and the monarchy. But it is quite possible to do that without resorting to racist language. The fact that he used racist language to achieve this is in itself, racist. To claim that it is ok to do so is racist.

Of course, predictably, you have resorted to throwing personal insults at me to try to deflect from your inability to defend his comments.

theWarOnPeace · 24/07/2019 09:39

“The best fate for Africa would be if the old colonial powers, or their citizens, scrambled once again in her direction; on the understanding that this time they will not be asked to feel guilty.”

Direct quote from BJ, I can’t understand people excusing his racism. This actually breaks my heart, that a person in power actually thinks that colonialism helped Africa... he’s fucking despicable.

Roussette · 24/07/2019 09:42

I hate hearing the hints of 'just leave then' or 'glad I've left'.

So you give up family and friends because you can't be bothered to fight what you think is wrong.

I don't think so.

iwantadishwasher · 24/07/2019 09:43

Are some of the posters on here Johnson's PR team??

Alsohuman · 24/07/2019 09:45

It certainly looks that way. By the way, what the hell’s happened to this thread? It’s not in chronological order any more.

wholesale deregulation of the city resulting in the banking crisis

Labour didn't single-handedly create the GLOBAL financial crisis and you know it Shortstuff99. Also, didn't deregulation begin under that well known socialist, Thatcher?

Shortstuff99 · 24/07/2019 09:54

You are ignorant of the role that the city plays in the global banking system and of the changes to regulation that Brown approached the city about early when he was chancellor and then executed. Read up on it they are pivotal to the ensuing situation.

Alsohuman · 24/07/2019 10:00

You’re even more ignorant if you believe that. The financial crash was global and started with misselling sub prime mortgages in the US.

iwantadishwasher · 24/07/2019 10:05

I am indeed not a financial expert and like most people struggle to understand all the fine detail of the 2008 crisis.

But you implied in your previous post that the sole blame for the 2008 crisis lies with the Labour administration of the time and you don't need to be a financial expert to know that is not true. And is it not the case that deregulation began with Thatcher? The Big Bang?

longwayoff · 24/07/2019 10:06

O joy. Dominic Cummings appointed Bozza special adviser. My cup runneth over. Ffs

iwantadishwasher · 24/07/2019 10:07

That was my understanding too @Alsohuman. But I'm just an ignorant pleb.

iwantadishwasher · 24/07/2019 10:09

I'm no fan of Blair but Labour did lots of good things as well as bad. No coincidence that the NHS has crumbled since 2010, partly thanks to Lansley's (the utter fuckwit) "reform".

longwayoff · 24/07/2019 10:15

Of course you're right dishwasher and alsohuman, short is either short on facts or long on distortion. Anyway now we've got Cummings on hand and Priti Patel in cabinet, Alternative Facts can't be far behind.

iwantadishwasher · 24/07/2019 10:17

Priti Patel in cabinet

This makes me weep. She is awful and I wouldn't trust her to run my bath.

longwayoff · 24/07/2019 11:01

Listening to radio.
Caller 'I love Boris blah blah unity'.
Presenter 'but Dominic Cummings wrote last month "the ERG is a metastasising tumour in politics which must be excised" '
Caller 'Yeah, Boris will unite the country'
Impossible to reason with such incomprehending intransigence. We're asterisked until the wind changes.
