www.newsweek.com/trump-wehner-mental-health-donald-trump-1458411?utm_medium=Social&utm_campaign=NewsweekTwitter&utm_source=Twitter

'A political adviser who served in three presidential administrations has said that he was worried about Donald Trump's mental state before he even took office.

Among roles that Peter Wehner held at the White House was director of speech writing for George W. Bush. He also worked for Bush's father as well as George H.W. Bush's predecessor, Ronald Reagan.

Author of The Death of Politics: How to Heal Our Frayed Republic After Trump, Wehner said he was asked about Trump's sudden rise within the Republican party during the 2016 election campaign.

Wehner said that back in July 2016, he had sounded the alarm about Trump's mental state, telling C-SPAN that he was "temperamentally unfit to be president" and believed him to be "erratic" and had a "personality disorder."'

Gosh, can you imagine if Bolton’s replacement is Jared? Actually, that isn’t too hard to imagine - he’s part of the inner circle, supposedly a ‘yes’ man, and has been hard at work solving Middle East peace. It really could be Jared!

TheClaws · 11/09/2019 01:18

BTW, to amp up the stupidity, Kushner’s former assistant (cough: coffee boy) is now envoy between the US and the Middle East.

Jared Kushner's COFFEE BOY now runs America's Middle East policy

If that isn't enough to make you want to read a book like Proof of Conspiracy about how the Trump family corrupted America's Middle East policy by turning it into a for-profit family business, I got nothing left

The Hill

@GOPLeader
: "The President's resorts are hotels that he owns, that people are traveling. It's just like any other hotel... I don't know that that's different than anything else. Is it different than if I go and stay or eat at a Marriott here or eat at the Trump?

What bullshit!

Lion I watched last night Trump giving a speech. He could barely form the words, what he said was mangled, I think his cognitive decline is very apparent.

TheClaws · 11/09/2019 07:58

I was just about to post that very thing,Roussette!

Even if you weren’t aware of Emoluments clause, staying at a Trump hotel/resort - or being compelled to - when that person is your boss is dodgy and corrupt, and McCarthy is feeble if he doesn’t see that.

cozietoesie · 11/09/2019 08:36

Ah well.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 11/09/2019 10:52

And even then Trump couldn't resist telling a stupid, pointless, easily-checked lie about it.

He really doesn't seem to know what truth is any more, if he ever did.

The disgraced and almost bankrupt (probably, many people are saying it) WP with their fake news, no doubt:

Trump’s Taliban invite is one of the most shameful moments of his presidency

"Here is the image that would have been broadcast across the Muslim world: Taliban leaders sitting at the very table where U.S. officials planned the overthrow of their regime, accepting what they would have portrayed as the terms of the United States’ surrender — right before the 18th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. The propaganda victory for the Taliban would have been enormous, sending a message of U.S. weakness and emboldening terrorists across the world."
"These are murderous terrorists with American blood on their hands. It is an outrage that Obama freed them. But for Trump to even consider allowing leaders of a designated terrorist organization to set foot in Camp David is worse than an outrage; it is an insult to all those who died on 9/11 and the American troops who gave their lives fighting them in Afghanistan."

A low turnout it seems but the GOP lead was cut.

(Although I'll wait for some proper analysis and the number crunching that can only come later).

PerkingFaintly · 11/09/2019 13:28

On another matter, this looks like good news from California:

California passes landmark gig economy rights bill

AcrossthePond55 · 11/09/2019 18:07

GOP took both seats in NC. But the main thing is that it was a close, close race AND we still have a majority in the House.

cozietoesie · 11/09/2019 19:09

As you're around, Across, where do you (and others, of course) reckon we're going?

lionheart · 11/09/2019 23:20

www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/us-politics/rudy-giuliani-911-video-police-protestors-trump-hitler-a9101586.html

'To mark the anniversary of the September 11 attacks, former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani has posted a pro-law enforcement video that has been described as “truly evil” and a “pernicious piece of propaganda”'.

AcrossthePond55 · 11/09/2019 23:24

You mean in general terms, cozie? Honestly, I don't know. It seems that every day brings new shit that apparently disappears the next! Everyone can SEE what he does, and every (rational) person deplores and is embarrassed by it. But nothing happens. DH says he is seeing more and more former Trumpers on FB saying they won't vote for him in 2020 and apologizing for having voted for him in 2016. His approval rating is in the toilet. But as the saying goes "It ain't over until the fat, orange, candy floss haired President sings".

I'm pinning my (small) hopes on the vote tomorrow by the House Judiciary Cmte to "define the parameters of its impeachment investigation" (quoting Jerry Nadler, Chairman). This, supposedly, is the first step towards impeachment based on the course the Nixon investigations took. I'm hoping that if nothing else, it will tie Scrotus up during critical campaigning months and/or bring out more and more shit. Of course, his fanbase will never change. I do believe that he truly could 'shoot someone on 5th Ave and nothing would happen' as far as they're concerned.

It's like we know who loves him, we know who hates him, but we don't know who the undecided truly are. Until we get closer and more people 'declare themselves' we are simply trying to sit tight on this runaway train.

lionheart · 12/09/2019 00:57

Gin Across because that seems like an excellent and terrible summary.

'Let Trump Destroy Trump.'

Lweji · 12/09/2019 01:19

It's kind of odd that both Bolton and Trump are right, IMO.

Trump for putting a brake on Bolton's hawkish leanings. But then why get him on board in the first place (yes, lack of a better candidate)?

Bolton for considering that Trump ends up being too soft, and manipulated into a losing position. By NK, the Taliban, China?

The Iran has been typical of making up some bad behaviour, punishing them, then backing off for a photo op that totally undermines the US position (even if it's a stupid position).

Lweji · 12/09/2019 01:20

Anyone else thinks Trump would invite OBL to the White House situation room instead of watching him being killed?

lionheart · 12/09/2019 09:01

A deal is always to be made.

Lweji · 12/09/2019 09:40

Meanwhile GOP show their true colours.

WP:
North Carolina Republicans overrode a budget veto while Democrats were at a 9/11 ceremony
t.co/b6kvApZaqn

Roussette · 12/09/2019 14:29

That was pretty shady behaviour in that North Carolina vote.

I can't even pretend to understand what this is all about?

www.msn.com/en-us/news/world/trump-flirts-with-dollar15-billion-bailout-for-iran-sources-say/ar-AAH9CzO?ocid=st

Is it all down to oil?

Trump and the now departed Bolton put the kibosh on the Iranian nuclear deal and now want to pay them to come back in?? Shock

I think the turnout was as low as for the 2016 election ...

Here, it looks as if some corporations are taking a stand with regard to gun control:
