And so it (hopefully) begins.

This GOP Senator believes higher education is a “breeding ground for liberals” so the best thing for it is its eradication. Never mind that brain surgery isn’t taught at trade school that I’m aware of - or, given that the US will have no healthcare anyway, there will be no need for brain surgeons?

On the subject of making friends...

Lindsey Graham and the Dutch fascist leader. Hmm

The education senator has probably seen the research on how lower IQ people tend to vote right and, particularly, farther right.

lionheart · 10/09/2019 09:42

I hope so Across,

lionheart · 10/09/2019 11:51

There was also that research on how people who are more cautious and fearful in their approach to life are more likely to steer to the the right and, as it seems at this peculiar historical moment, just keep going ...

This GOP Senator believes higher education is a “breeding ground for liberals” so the best thing for it is its eradication.

I don't think he necessarily does, TheClaws. I think he was making a (not-much-needed) point by being ironic. His actions seem to indicate that he doesn't think higher education should be eradicated, but on the contrary works for it to be expanded.

"Roberts' own history and legislative record suggest that he was, indeed, joking."

SanFranBear · 10/09/2019 17:17

Fuck - John Bolton has gone..

AcrossthePond55 · 10/09/2019 17:24

Bolton's a real hawk. I'm not sorry he's gone.

CNN reporting that according to 'sources' Scrotus was irked because Bolton opposed the (fake) Taliban mtgs.

PerkingFaintly · 10/09/2019 18:11

Haha, how predictable is the Orange One!

I got a couple of paragraphs into the BBC article on Bolton and thought, "45's giving explicit details of how he sacked him. Doesn't that usually mean the person dumped him resigned of their own accord first?"

And lo!

John Bolton: Trump's national security adviser is out
www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-49655279

As the news broke, Mr Bolton texted a Fox New host live on TV. "John Bolton just texted me, just now, he's watching. He said, 'let's be clear, I resigned,'" Brian Kilmeade told viewers.

PerkingFaintly · 10/09/2019 18:11

Sorry, I don't have anything more intelligent to add. I suppose how good or bad this is depends on who replaces Bolton.

AcrossthePond55 · 10/09/2019 18:34

If anyone does replace him. One theory is that Scrotus wants to 'govern alone' and is slowly dissolving his cabinet or replacing them with absolute 'yes people'.

Natl Sec Advisor is a critical, hugely critical, post. Bolton was bad enough. But the idea of a 'yes person' in that post is truly frightening.

PerkingFaintly · 10/09/2019 18:45

Well indeed, Scrotus alone is what I was thinking.

Will that be better or worse? Well the world didn't seem a very safe place with Bolton in office. But 45 can give six contradictory orders before breakfast, and may also still have Vlad whispering in his ear. Soo...

cozietoesie · 10/09/2019 18:52

The 'tar heeled' election.

.....The last time a Democrat held a seat in the district was in 1962, and if Dems win tonight it could send a clear message to Republicans: Watch out, 2020 is going to be a bloodbath. If Republicans win, they can say that the president is able to hold onto Republican districts and that the narrative that some traditionally red states are turning purple is all wrong. McCready, after all, had the full weight of the Democratic party behind him and spent an unprecedented two years of campaigning and $4 million on the race. ......

cozietoesie · 10/09/2019 18:54

The candidate are apparently polling in 'margin of error' territory.

lionheart · 10/09/2019 19:27

Lawdy ..

lionheart · 10/09/2019 19:29

Is he trying to point the finger at Bolton for the Taliban meeting/non-meeting?

Lweji · 11/09/2019 00:43

My guess is that one of them (Bolton or Trump) wanted to invade Iran. Not quite sure who, though.

lionheart · 11/09/2019 00:53

Maybe the replacement will give us the answer (unless it is Ivanka).

AcrossthePond55 · 11/09/2019 00:55

Polls closed in NC about 25 mins ago. Results should start rolling in shortly. There's also another special election in NC for another Congressional seat. The seat became empty due to the death of the serving Congressman. GOP is expected to take that one but the 4th District is too close to guess.
