The cheapest and the most expensive property within 5 miles...

TheFridgeRaider · 22/07/2019 19:24

Seeing so many threads about properties and the difference in prices reported I get why it can be so difficult for people to imagine the differences between areas.

Would IBU to be curious and ask you to hop on primelocation and see what are the cheapest and the most expensive properties within 5 miles of your home? Ignore shared ownership, retirement only and investment student studios. Obviously you don't have to post links, just say the area so you can keep anonymous.

I will start.

£25k for a mooring to £2m for a 6 bed house.

ABingThing · 22/07/2019 20:44

We're in East Northamptonshire. It's basically warehouses with extra warehouses around here.

Cheapest property is a £47,500 shared ownership flat, no work needed.
Most expensive is a £2.25m 5-bed detached with outbuildings, three double garages, swimming pool and 9-acres. Oh, and an extra 1-bed cottage.

In fairness, it is over the county border where house prices are much higher.

LtGreggs · 22/07/2019 20:44

Central Scotland (not Glasgow or Edinburgh)

£47k 1 bed flat over shop - in quite a run-down village and rather grey looking, but perfectly habitable decent size and view of the hills from the window. Village has shops and school. On a good bus route, or you could walk out to the countryside from front door.

£1.5 million - 9 bed country house with large grounds. 17th century, looks stunning inside and out. Has a billiard room :-) If you've got the money, looks like a bargain!

mumsneedwine · 22/07/2019 20:45

Cheapest £48,750
Expensive £22,000,000
😂😂

MarSeeAh · 22/07/2019 20:47

Small town/village/rural area about 30 minutes out of Glasgow on the train.

Dearest - a 5 bed detached 18th century house in countryside with outbuildings and stables - £672k

Cheapest - One bed flat on edge of small town - reasonable condition in reasonable area - £25k

HerculesMulligan · 22/07/2019 20:47

SW London. There's a block of flats for £38m but the cheapest single house is a 7 bedroom place for £11m.

Cheapest - a 1 bedroom houseboat for £40k, or a second floor studio flat about a parade of shops for £149,950 but they're clear that it needs to be a cash purchase so goodness knows what's wrong with it.

PickAChew · 22/07/2019 20:47

Durham
5.5million house with land - on market since 2015 as development opportunity.

Rural town in the Midlands between welsh border and Birmingham.

Cheapest not shared ownership is £55,500 studio flat - no photos of the inside Confused make of that what you will!

Most expensive is £1.59 mill 7 bed manor house that was so beautiful I drooled Grin

LtGreggs · 22/07/2019 20:50

That £1.5m house has 11 acres, a three bed staff flat, at least two spiral staircases, panelled library etc etc. It looks to be in walk-in condition and grounds look splendid. It was originally for Robert the Bruce and has a Burns connection. Within 40 mins Edinburgh Airport. Seems too cheap...
