The cheapest and the most expensive property within 5 miles...

TheFridgeRaider · 22/07/2019 19:24

Seeing so many threads about properties and the difference in prices reported I get why it can be so difficult for people to imagine the differences between areas.

Would IBU to be curious and ask you to hop on primelocation and see what are the cheapest and the most expensive properties within 5 miles of your home? Ignore shared ownership, retirement only and investment student studios. Obviously you don't have to post links, just say the area so you can keep anonymous.

I will start.
NW big city
The cheapest:
2 bed flat 35k. Fully livable! Just needs decorating. 15 min to city centre.
The most expensive: 😮
8 bed, oh so amazing, grade 2 listed £1,995,000. 25 min to city centre.

South Northants.
Most costly - offers over £1,250,00 for an 11 bedroomed detached house. Fabulous. (Can I have it please?)
Least expensive - £79,999 - one bedroom flat over a shop.

GrumbleBumble · 22/07/2019 20:29

Rural SE England most expensive £3,050,000 11 bedroomed country pile in a 50+ acre estate. Cheapest 100,000 1 bed maisonette described as needing total refurb. Zero internal pictures so I assume even the bath tub is a fright!

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 22/07/2019 20:29

Home Counties. Cheapest: 1 bed "park home" (ie: non-mobile mobile home), £90,000, but you also have to pay site fees of £143/month. Next cheapest non-park home - 1 bed flat, "offers in excess of" £110,000.

Dearest: well there are several above it in the listings which are "price on application", but the most expensive one with a price tag is a 7 bed detached going for 6.5 million.

formerbabe · 22/07/2019 20:30

Most expensive...12.5 million for a three bed flat Shock
Cheapest...a garage for 25k

Teesside

Most expensive £1,995,000 5 bed house with land

Cheapest auction £7,500 guide price 2 bed flat above a shop

Cheapest with an actual price £20,000 for mid terrace which the estate agent has no access to and there's no internal viewings. They have been told it's 2 bedrooms. There is only an external photo.

The cheapest house with an actual price and pictures is £27,500 2 bed terraced house.

Danglingmod · 22/07/2019 20:30

Also surprised at how cheap you can get a one bed flat in some southern places/London outskirts etc.

I'm in Midlands in an area people on mn always tell others to move to as it's "cheap"...

However : cheapest 1 bed flat £74k
Cheapest house £110k
Most expensive house £3,750,000

£15k-£35k for NE/NW/Wales is ridiculously lower than round here.

Troglod · 22/07/2019 20:32

SE London.
Pages and pages of parking spaces and garages for sale from £22k to £85k.
Cheapest residential property is a studio for £90k (leasehold).
Most expensive, just under £30 million for a 7 bed townhouse.

ALittleBitAlexis · 22/07/2019 20:32

Newcastle

Highest: £2,950,000 for a 5 bed detached - I love it! (But if I had £3mil I wouldn't be living here)

Lowest £80,000 for a pretty basic 2 bed flat in a tower block.

PomBearWithAnOFRS · 22/07/2019 20:33

There's a house just round the corner from us, two bed terrace, guide price of 11 (yes, eleven) K.
I very much doubt there's anything more than 750K within five miles.

TheIncredibleBookEatingManchot · 22/07/2019 20:33

Most expensive £11,250,000. Shock
11 bed house.

Cheapest
£43,750
1 bed flat.

In the south east.

tobee · 22/07/2019 20:33

Interesting that it's the top end prices that wildly differ. But not surprising if you think about it.

Oblomov19 · 22/07/2019 20:34

@Felyne is looking at the same properties as me. She must live down the road from me!! Grin

twistyturnycurlywhirly · 22/07/2019 20:35

£2,250,000 for a 5 bed house
£4,000 for a garage
£60,000 (auction guide price) for a 1 bed flat that's a shit hole.

It sounds like I live somewhere lovely, but in reality it's somewhere very ordinary. The SE is just so expensive.

BlackeyedGruesome · 22/07/2019 20:35

twattymctwatterson · 22/07/2019 20:40

Oh I like this!

I'm just outside of Glasgow - Five miles covers a good bit of the city and surrounding areas.
Cheapest; £15k. One bedroom ex local authority in a pretty grim area. No photos of inside and billed as an investment opportunity so suspect work required.
Most expensive;£1.3m in very niace area popular with professional footballers. 5 bedroom, 4 bath detached traditional sandstone villa with huge garden. Very flashy.
