The cheapest and the most expensive property within 5 miles...

TheFridgeRaider · 22/07/2019 19:24

Seeing so many threads about properties and the difference in prices reported I get why it can be so difficult for people to imagine the differences between areas.

Would IBU to be curious and ask you to hop on primelocation and see what are the cheapest and the most expensive properties within 5 miles of your home? Ignore shared ownership, retirement only and investment student studios. Obviously you don't have to post links, just say the area so you can keep anonymous.

I will start.
NW big city
The cheapest:
2 bed flat 35k. Fully livable! Just needs decorating. 15 min to city centre.
The most expensive: 😮
8 bed, oh so amazing, grade 2 listed £1,995,000. 25 min to city centre.

Cheapest - 1 bed cottage 45k

Most expensieve - Grade 2 listed mansion with 14 bedrooms, 2 cottages, stables and 26 acres of land - - - 2.75 million

NoShitHemlock · 23/07/2019 02:06

Just outside Belfast (to the North - MUCH posher and more expensive in the South!):

Most expensive is a detached bungalow in a nice area with 3 bedrooms (2 ensuite) for £179, 950, and it is gorgeous!

Least expensive is a 2 bedroom flat (also quite a nice area), 1 bathroom for £59, 950. Bathroom needs a serious update though.

I realise these prices seem low compared to some on this thread, but wages are shite over here!

PeachMoon · 23/07/2019 02:12

Northern suburbs of Perth -

Most expensive, aside from POA, is offers over $15 million (about £8.5 millon) 4 bed - I would say based mainly on location:
reiwa.com.au/52-the-esplanade-peppermint-grove-3822437/

Cheapest is $139k (about £78,000) for a 1 bed flat:
reiwa.com.au/9-269-main-street-osborne-park-4167307/

namechanged2000 · 23/07/2019 02:28

A castle that is POA and a 2 bed flat that is £62,500

Mintjulia · 23/07/2019 02:29

South East. Most exp is £9m and some change for manor house with 70 acre stud farm.

Least exp is £58,000 for 1 bed 1980s shared-ownership flat. Looks ok to be fair. Has a tiny private garden

Gingerkittykat · 23/07/2019 03:36

Central Scotland

I got excited at the cheapest of £23000 but it is 1/4 shared ownership. Studio flat with no central heating for £35 000.

£860 000 for a 6 bed, 6 bath, 6 reception room detached house.

isabellerossignol · 23/07/2019 03:54

I'm in Co Antrim and the cheapest at present is £45k and the most expensive is £500k. Having said that, in recent months there have been a few in the local area that were more expensive, including one at £1.2 million.

Agree with the previous poster who said that the prices must seem cheap to people in expensive areas but salaries are also very low, so not quite as affordable as they seem at first glance.

AvocadosBeforeMortgages · 23/07/2019 06:14

South Wales (City, not valleys)

£59,950 for a one bed flat that's fully liveable but looks like the block has cladding so I'd want to check I wasn't going to die in a firey inferno

£2.3m for a beautiful modern 6 bed house with 10 acres of land

Buddywoo · 23/07/2019 06:39

Rural north Oxfordshire. Small village, most expensive house £28 million, cheapest £375,000 2 bed cottage that is run down.

SummerSun10 · 23/07/2019 07:05

South east, 110k for studio flat, 11million mansion!!

Tartsamazeballs · 23/07/2019 07:15

£140k for studio apartment.
£5.95m for 10 bed country manor house.

Home counties, about an hour from London.

jaseyraex · 23/07/2019 07:23

Lowest - 1 bed flat £17,500

Highest - POA 8 bed castle Grin
The one below that is £995,000 for a 5 bed detached house.

West end of Glasgow.

Erismorn · 23/07/2019 07:28

Coastal village in East Kent. Most expensive is just up the road and is a 6 bed house for £1.75 million. Twenty-six pictures on the listing and only five are internal, with three of those being the same room. Decor is hideous and the agent says it "needs updating throughout", which may be why!

Cheapest is a £14,995 static caravan in a nearby seaside village. If you want somewhere you can live all year round, rather than the 11.5 months the static caravan allows you, then it's a minuscule 1 bedroom flat in the nearest town.

lrwe · 23/07/2019 07:43

Derby

Most expensive £4.5m hotel for sale
Cheapest £29k 2 bed flat, but looks in bad condition!

Dinnerfor1 · 23/07/2019 07:52

Cheapest: £75,000 for a 3 bed semi.

Most expensive: £12,500,000 for a 13 bedroom country house.

I live NW, somewhere between Warrington and Altrincham.

MissB83 · 23/07/2019 08:04

East Midlands, commuter town under an hour from London.
Cheapest in my postcode: £220,000 for a terrace
Most expensive in my postcode: £680,000 for a 4 bed house by a park (popular location).

Confrontayshunme · 23/07/2019 08:06

Live within 5 miles of a VERY narrow peninsula on South Coast where footballers live.

£35k for a 3 bed static caravan holiday club home
£6,965,000 for a 6 bed house with fait sized garden

It took us 2 years to find a livable 3 bed house with a handkerchief sized garden for under £200K 6 years ago.

CoffeeQueen24 · 23/07/2019 08:07

3.5 huge farm house
