The cheapest and the most expensive property within 5 miles...

TheFridgeRaider · 22/07/2019 19:24

Seeing so many threads about properties and the difference in prices reported I get why it can be so difficult for people to imagine the differences between areas.

Would IBU to be curious and ask you to hop on primelocation and see what are the cheapest and the most expensive properties within 5 miles of your home? Ignore shared ownership, retirement only and investment student studios. Obviously you don't have to post links, just say the area so you can keep anonymous.

I will start.
NW big city
The cheapest:
2 bed flat 35k. Fully livable! Just needs decorating. 15 min to city centre.
The most expensive: 😮
8 bed, oh so amazing, grade 2 listed £1,995,000. 25 min to city centre.

South west

A (one bed) park home for £59,950+

If you exclude park homes, £84,950 for a 1 bed flat. The main bedroom appears to be a box room with a single bed. You could probably fit a double in the living room, but there's no door to the kitchen.

The next kindof habitable place is £104,500 for a studio flat. The bed is next to the sofa, next to the coffee table, next to the dining table. At least they get a double bed in. On the plus side it has a garage!

3mil - 7 bed detached, 10 acres with an annex, paddock, barn. Quite dated inside though!

RictusGin · 22/07/2019 23:32

Meant to say the 10 bed mansion with 427 acres is £10 million

LokihasafryingPan · 22/07/2019 23:33

Most expensive : POA
A Classical Detached Villa
Grade II Listed
Situated In A Private Leafy Park
A Designated Conservation Area
Plot Size Approximately 3/4 Of An Acre (3 Standard Park Plots Combined)
Separate Coach House Enjoying Planning Permission
Next is £1.45M 5 bed detached house.

Cheapest is £25k 'study bedroom' in student halls, but the cheapest non 'investment' student Hall type is £35k studio flat in listed building, dire need of painting but new bathroom etc so pretty ready to go.
In the NW, due to proximity to river mersey we pick up Liverpool and wirral properties in a 5m search

MsFanackerPants · 22/07/2019 23:34

Ex milltown north west England. Cheapest is a 1 bed flat at £39k. Most expensive 7 bed house with pool and tennis court at £1.85m

TheFridgeRaider · 22/07/2019 23:36

Lots of studios. I wouldn't live in one now, but ooooooh. How I would love to play with the fold up to the wall furniture there.
I love series where they take tiny space and use smart solutions to turn it into really practical space.

North Lincolnshire
£1.5 million will get you an 11 bed grade ll listed house, with 25 acres, 3 cottages, 2 flats, outbuildings and a 9 hole golf course.
Or you can buy a 2 bed terrace for 69k in the nearest town

xSharonNeedlesx · 22/07/2019 23:42

Here’s mine off Rightmove. I’m in South Yorks.

South East.

Most expensive - £2,900,000, a 9 bedroom detached house with a large garden (inc tennis court, maze etc.)

Cheapest - £55,000 , a 2 bedroom bungalow/mobile home. Decorated gorgeously but is absolutely tiny.

North of Sheffield
Most expensive:
7 bedroom detached house with 10 acres of land £1.5m. Also at the same price a 7 bedroom historic grade ll listed house dating back to the 16th century on the edge of the Peak District

Cheapest:
A one bedroom end of terrace house £37,500

Wombleish · 22/07/2019 23:45

SE Northumberland. Cheapest £15,000, one bed flat - that's the auction starting price, though. If you're talking straight-up selling, £24,950.

Most expensive, £2,495,000. 'The lower ground floor offers an entertainment room with a feature cocktail bar area, snug room, cloaks room/WC, 3D cinema, gymnasium, leisure suite with a 40ft swimming pool, 8 person jacuzzi, steam room, shower room, toilet facilities and plant room' That's in Darras Hall, near Newcastle, where lots of the NUFC players live.

Is this the biggest price difference on the thread so far? Grin

JaceLancs · 22/07/2019 23:47

JudefromJersey · 23/07/2019 00:05

Ooh I like this thread. London here.
Cheapest is a studio with a low lease above a takeaway in South East London. £150k. It’s grotty.
Most expensive is an eye watering £60m. Yes £60 million. (Buckingham Gate in Belgravia and a lowly terrace 😀)

Mrsmummy90 · 23/07/2019 00:11

@JudefromJersey that's shocking! In my area, £150k can get you a small 3 bed semi!!

VforVienetta · 23/07/2019 00:13

This is what £130k gets you in Hemel Hempstead. Palatial.

Cheapest: £115k, 1 bed flat over a shop.

Graphista · 23/07/2019 00:55

West coast Scotland

Think I'm about to give you all jealousy heart attacks! But it is a very UNdesirable deprived area, I think basically sellers are struggling to GIVE properties away.

There are villages outside the stated area where there are "vair naice" mansions and farmhouses.

Cheapest £20k 1 bed flat, looks quite nice, freshly painted/decorated, newly fitted kitchen, only a shower room though no bath.

dearest offers over £70k 3 bed flat in Victorian tenement, 3 double bedrooms, large kitchen/diner, fully fitted bathroom and shared garden.

Twofurrycatsagain · 23/07/2019 00:55

1.6 million for an equestrian property 4 beds, barn, loads of stables 30 odd acres.
40k for 2 bed tce. Perfectly liveable in.
Lancashire.
There are cheaper auction properties that aren't that habitable. The one photo of a boarded up door is a bit of a give away!

PenguinsRabbits · 23/07/2019 01:09

Most expensive 2.95m 7 bed house with 20 acres of parkland / gardens, boating lake and equestrian facilities.

Lowest - SO £81k 3 bed house, outright 2 bed flat at £115k., £230k 2 bed bungalow.

Old area - cheapest mobile home £70k, most expensive £40 million block of flats then £5 million house
