Seeing so many threads about properties and the difference in prices reported I get why it can be so difficult for people to imagine the differences between areas.

Would IBU to be curious and ask you to hop on primelocation and see what are the cheapest and the most expensive properties within 5 miles of your home? Ignore shared ownership, retirement only and investment student studios. Obviously you don't have to post links, just say the area so you can keep anonymous.

I will start.
NW big city
The cheapest:
2 bed flat 35k. Fully livable! Just needs decorating. 15 min to city centre.
The most expensive: 😮
8 bed, oh so amazing, grade 2 listed £1,995,000. 25 min to city centre.

South east, Greater London (West)

1 bed flat
£200,000

5 bed
£11.5m

Cheapest is 2 bed flat for £145k
Most expensive is £12.5 million. I live less than a mile from it and didnt know it existed until today!
Often wondered what was behind that hedge!

South Wales

Cheapest - £37,950 for a 1 bed flat (cheapest house is £45k for a 2 bed terrace)

Dearest - £3.75million and for that you get an 11 bedroom grade 2 listed Manor House with stables, a self contained 3 bed flat, pool, tennis court.

Finding a reasonably sized house with a driveway that doesn't require £££ of renovations - about £50k over our budget 🙄

Interesting to see that within 5 miles is as the crow flies because the cheapest near me is actually a 20 minute drive away.

It's a flat above a shop, o/o £47,000.
Most expensive is O/o £875,000, a 5 bed villa.

Cumbria

Most expensive 800 k 4 bed farmhouse.
Least 10 k flat in a block with a bad reputation.

The cheapest is a single bedded room in a house share - not sure how that works to be honest! Cash buyers only, £115k.

The cheapest actual flat is a studio for £140k - very small but in ok condition.

The most expensive is a 9 bedroom detached house with an acre of grounds and a cinema room - all very modern and minimalist apart from massive chandelier everywhere. Costs £5m.

We’re in east London but too far out for the 5 miles to include proper central postcodes.

Lancs
Cheapest just under 20k for a 1 bed apartment 'in need of updating' - it only has exterior photos.

Dearest is 'five bedroom detached house with four en suites, manege, stables, barns and workshop building' with 12.5 acres

I had to google 'manège': 'an enclosed area in which horses and riders are trained.'

This one is not the most expensive in East Lancashire at £2,500,000 but it has loads of history to it and it's a beautiful building.
It was a maternity home( Bramley Meade) for along time and I was born here in 1956!

Bloody London.

Most expensive here is 2 million 7 bed grade 2 listed mansion, very posh area.
Cheapest is 40k 2 bed flats, ok area though near busy roads, trains and the likes.

Cheapest 2 bed terrace boarded up and cash only buyers - £25k

Most expensive £12.m within 5 miles in the Cheshire countryside for a 12 bed mansion.

Next ones below that are all around £5m.

The cheapest is a 2 bed park home for £25K.

The most expensive is a 10 bed mansion house with 427 acres including a lake and 11 flats and cottages
In Herefordshire

20 miles from Belfast

The cheapest is a 2 bed apartment 85k
Dearest 695k for a 5 bed detached

6,950,000 but loads are POA. Cheapest is 66,250 shared ownership

Geneva, Switzerland
Cheapest - 1.3 million for a 2 bedroom ground floor flat
Dearest - 19 million for a 5 bed detached with pool
There are about 6 more expensive than that one but they are POA so I can’t see how much they are. Mind you they all have views of the lake which adds 5-10 million on anyway...

Cornwall, south coast, Roseland Peninsula.

Most expensive a 5 bed detached with stunning sea views and its own slipway. £3.75m

Lowest a 2 bed end of terrace for £62,500.

Hertfordshire village
Most expensive 8.4 million for a 12 bed Georgian house with a second 4 bed cottage, and its own wood.
Cheapest 280k for a 2 bed ex LA mid terrace house.

Small market town in north Buckinghamshire. Dearest is £1.75million for 64 acres, period farmhouse, bungalow and barn with "conversion potential". Cheapest is £100k for studio flat within walking distance of university and town centre. Currently tenanted and earning 5% yield apparently.

West London:

Most expensive: £115,000,000 for a block of flats near Hyde Park or for just the one property £82,500,000 for a 10 bedroom, 8 bathrooms terraced house.

Cheapest: £169,000 for a studio flat 'in need of total modernisation'. There aren't even any pictures of what it actually looks like inside, just one of the outside of the block!

Cheapest was a studio flat currently rented out in a student block for £12,500

I live in the Midlands. The cheapest 2 bed flat is 60k, it's liveable. The most expensive is a huge 8 bed house inn 40 acres of land at £3,500,000, but I don't like the house at all, ugly boring and soulless.

Not much on at the moment there's usually mega money sprawling types but at the mo (my daydreams about a euros win need pictures for reference sometimes haha) but now it's £5m for a 5 bed detached and 149k 1 bed grotty area but OK inside flat. 30 mins commute to London, and most expensive not very close to a station
