The cheapest and the most expensive property within 5 miles...

TheFridgeRaider · 22/07/2019 19:24

Seeing so many threads about properties and the difference in prices reported I get why it can be so difficult for people to imagine the differences between areas.

Would IBU to be curious and ask you to hop on primelocation and see what are the cheapest and the most expensive properties within 5 miles of your home? Ignore shared ownership, retirement only and investment student studios. Obviously you don't have to post links, just say the area so you can keep anonymous.

I will start.
NW big city
The cheapest:
2 bed flat 35k. Fully livable! Just needs decorating. 15 min to city centre.
The most expensive: 😮
8 bed, oh so amazing, grade 2 listed £1,995,000. 25 min to city centre.

South Yorkshire.
Most expensive: 1.1million - 6 bed converted farm house.
Least expensive: £20k, a breezeblock lodge type thing on a permanent caravan site. Next is £27,500 - 3 bed terraced house (complete with boarded up windows)

AquaPris · 22/07/2019 22:05

£4.3million for a 3 bed flat

Lowest: £22k for a garage Grin

I'm in South London, Z2

Mac47 · 22/07/2019 22:06

Most expensive, POA
Cheapest (v little at the mo) 275 1 bed flat

Shoppingwithmother · 22/07/2019 22:07

Range here (NW England) is most expensive- £3,950,000 for a six bed Grand Designs style house with its own helicopter landing pad. Have to say, compared with Sleppwhenidies’s £60M house, it looks fucking good value.

Cheapest £1 guide price at auction for shop/1 bed end terrace.

Cheapest non-auction is £12,000 for an apartment.

WhatWouldTheNeighboursSay · 22/07/2019 22:07

Dundee and surrounding area.

5 Double Bedroom detached family home in sought after location. Also 4 (FOUR!?!?) bathrooms.
Offers over £525,000.

I assume this counts as I don't think it's one of the ones that you need to be out for X number of weeks:
1 bedroom Mobile/park home.
Fixed price £24,950

Alternatively, there's a 1 bedroom flat. Offers over £27,500

Advertised elsewhere: Offers over £600,000 could get you a 4 bedroom bungalow; and unfortunately you just missed out on a 3 bed 17th C. CASTLE that went for only £595,000. Shock

Toffeecakes · 22/07/2019 22:07

NE England - 3 miles away £1.2m, 6 bedroom house, 19 photographs of the stunning inside and views. 4.5 miles away £20k for a 2 bed end terrace, 3 photos - 2 of either side of the external and 1 of the for sale sign. None of the interior or floor plan.

PenCreed · 22/07/2019 22:08

@quitefranklyivehadenough that's the main selling point. Frankly, I'm horrified my house doesn't have one of those, it's clear I've been living in a hovel all this time.

piglet81 · 22/07/2019 22:08

SE London. Most expensive: £12.5m new-build luxury riverside apartment thing, 3 beds and the most vomit-inducing description but no pics.

Cheapest: £100k 2-bed flat, cash only (31 year lease and in a tower block). Very depressing.

LoafEater · 22/07/2019 22:08

West London suburbs.
Highest price is POA, and the next priciest is £6.5 million. Seven bedroom mansion with FOUR staff houses on the 40 acres of land.

Lowest is £40k for a 1 bedroom canal boat on the local canal.

MadameMaxGoesler · 22/07/2019 22:08

London N5.
Cheapest (not shared ownership, retirement or short lease): £125k 1 bed in Forest Gate.
Most expensive: £82,500,000 in Belgrave Square.

WhatWouldTheNeighboursSay · 22/07/2019 22:14

I was taken by the one @Tavannach found, until I checked street view and now think I'd worry the neighbours across the road were a big common Wink

SteelRiver · 22/07/2019 22:15

Lanarkshire
Dearest is a 6 bed, detached family home. Looks fairly new - £490,000.
Cheapest is a 1 bed flat in a traditional Scottish building. Don't know the area but the flat looks clean and livable - £28,000.

BottomliePotts · 22/07/2019 22:15

West Sussex village close to mid sized town

CrazyCatLady159 · 22/07/2019 22:17

London / Essex

4.5 mil 6 bedroom detached house

60,000 studio flat above shops

BettysLeftTentacle · 22/07/2019 22:20

Good game.

A small rural village in the East, 45 minutes away from London by train, 5 miles away from a very famous ancient university town.

Most expensive- £3150000, 7 bed detached house in the next village.
Cheapest - £53750. Shared ownership, 2 bed flat in rather unappealing small town.

WhatWouldTheNeighboursSay · 22/07/2019 22:24

It's out with the 5 mile limit specified, so doesn't count Sad
But I needed to share this Grin

Cumbria

Lowest is a 1 bedroom flat priced at £15,000

Highest is a 4 bedroom Grade II Listed farmhouse with barn conversion, £695,000

However, I live only 6 miles from the LDNP boundary, so there is another farmhouse just over the national park boundary line, and I kid not it's walking distance from the one mentioned above, but it's £2m!!

longtompot · 22/07/2019 22:28

SW, approx 1 hour from the coast, most expensive £3.5 million 7 bed detached Georgian mansion in 20 acres.
Cheapest £46,500 2 bed first fooor flat.

longtompot · 22/07/2019 22:29

*floor not fooor

AgeingDurannie · 22/07/2019 22:29

@Likethebattle ... you must be near me..... that MacIntosh house was my priciest within 5 miles too....

currentlyoutoftheoffice · 22/07/2019 22:30

East Coast:

6 bed farmhouse with granny annex and over 24 acres - 1.85 million

1 bed modern apartment in good condition - 60K

NoWordForFluffy · 22/07/2019 22:30

Most expensive: £3m, 6 bed mock Tudor property. Not so far from me (might as well be a million miles though!).

Cheapest (which isn't shared ownership): £47,500.00, 1 bed flat. Grotty area near Asda (bedsit land a bit!).

I'm on the NW coast in Sefton.

NanooCov · 22/07/2019 22:31

Lowest is a 1 bed flat for £110,000. Looks habitable although a bit minging looking. Not in a naice area either - it's above a shop that has bars on the windows. Highest is £5.5m for an 8 bed listed Manor House with 4 acres and separate coach house. It's gorgeous. There's a couple of POA ones which might be more.

We're on the borders of SE London/North Kent.
