They really are astonishing pictures, part of an ad campaign. He looks just like mum. I'm not keen. Please Google for ref, can't do link.

I’m saying that I don’t regard these pictures as sexualised. But, if someone is old enough to legally consent to sex, they’re also old enough to consent to fully clothed images with whatever expression on their face they choose. Is that clear enough for you?

VivienneHolt · 18/07/2019 12:01

I don’t think these pictures are sexualised. Where are people getting that from? Are there others besides those posted on this thread?

Sagradafamiliar · 18/07/2019 12:01

It's a Pat McGrath campaign!!

Swellerellamoo · 18/07/2019 12:01

There's a lot of anti LGBTQ+ sentiment on here, dresses up as concern for him. It's pretty offensive imo

TruthOnTrial · 18/07/2019 12:06

if you frequently read high fashion editorials this wouldn't shock you at all

No indeed! Normalisation and desensitisation

Where?

VivienneHolt · 18/07/2019 12:06

@Swellerellamoo totally agree. People are pretending that they’re shocked at the ‘sexualisation of a child’ but this is literally just a picture of a fully clothed 17 year old who has had a blow dry and some makeup applied. I think what most people are uncomfortable about (but don’t want to admit) is that the pictures cross the boundary of what they think is normal or appropriate for a boy. But makeup and blow dries don’t have to be exclusively ‘girl’ things (and I think the world would be much healthier if we stopped seeing them that way...!).

There are thousands of photos of 17yo male models wearing boxers, tops off, smouldering and pouting at the camera, crotches thrust forward etc and despite these being far more sexualised than these photos of Damian Hurley, nobody complains about them.

People aren’t really concerned for his welfare. They’re concerned because they don’t like a teenage boy involved in something they see as being ‘for girls’. Which is all retrogressive, stereotypical rubbish.

Thehop · 18/07/2019 12:07

YANBU I don’t like them.....but he is beautiful.

Marilynmansonsthermos · 18/07/2019 12:09

I agree op but the whole set of photos had gender neutral/androgynous themes.

OkMaybeNot · 18/07/2019 12:09

Well I think his hair makes him look like he's auditioning for the Lion King and therefore looks a bit silly, but I don't see why it would make anyone uncomfortable.

Weird thread.

MargotsFlounceyBlouse · 18/07/2019 12:10

I think he looks beautiful - yes androgynous, and the image of his mum, but not creepy.

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 18/07/2019 12:11

Vivienne
No 17 year old should have to pout for a camera, thrust their crotch anywhere or be photographed in underwear to make money for the fashion industry.

CarolDanvers · 18/07/2019 12:12

I'm so tired of having to defend myself against accusations of homophobia and transphobia because I am uncomfortable with minors pouting and posing in a hyper sexualised manner.

There's a teen clothing range currently being posted prolifically about on FB. The model is a young girl - no more than 12/13 who in the majority of photos is posing with that sultry, open mouthed expression. It makes me feel a bit sick and it's fuck all to do with "anti LGBTQ sentiment" Hmm

VivienneHolt · 18/07/2019 12:13

I agree - which is why it’s so baffling that this photo, where the 17 year old in question isn’t doing those things, is the subject of 200 comments expressing faux concern about sexualisation of teens, when there are so many photo campaigns which are genuinely problematic in this regard.

sunshinefinally · 18/07/2019 12:14

They don't do anything for me.... personally I think he would look better with shorter hair... not keen on the long hair or the pout... but if he's happy good for him...

Sagradafamiliar · 18/07/2019 12:14

I think a 13 year old female is more exploited than a wealthy, 17 year old male. Male being my main point.

RageAgainstTheVendingMachine · 18/07/2019 12:20

www.patmcgrath.com

Well, it did the job of getting me to click through.
Short film
Heavily made up white model doing burlesque type moves
Stunning black female model smiling naturally
Damian with natural make up but full blow out closing his eyes seductively
White female in laced bustier posing sulkily
Biracial model playing with wig
Black female model posing without gimmicks
Asian male wearing a leather Ariana Grande style rabbity mask

The black models look beautiful.
The others look like they are playing with gender/stereotypes so maybe a gender bender/androgyny/trans message, dunno
Except for the sulky one, she's just sulky Wink

Message being - our make up is all for all, we are diverse
Does it work? Well it got me looking up who they are.
Sonjdra Deluxe is the one playing with her wig, influencer, larger figure but sadly they focus only on her face in the video
Violet Chachki - ah, thought I recognised them. Won Ru Paul's drag race. Is the burlesque one.
and Zhengyang Zhang is the asian guy with long hair that can do androgyny well same as Rain Dove, he's male and has done the occasional female presenting shoot , she's female but has often done male presenting shoot.

TruthOnTrial · 18/07/2019 12:21

This picture tells us its time to put put the brakes on.

There are many that find this completely normal, but thats irrelevant, as normal doesnt equate to morally good or right. Patriarchal society and abusive men for example normalise much that is highly questionable and immoral.

There are many that cant 'see' sexualisation. Thats weird, as its not hidden, but could be as a result of normalisation and desensitisation.

To believe sexualising children isn't exploitation is harmful, and to believe this isn't that is frankly naïve.

The world thats all about 'looks' and 'financial gain' is rife with it.

Blimey, I bet his friends are taking the piss big time. He is very beautiful in an androgynous way, and I can see that to some people he is probably very attractive.

I always feel slightly sorry for celeb kids, who despite having the best education money can buy are drawn to the bright lights rather than something which engages their brain. Still, thems the times we live in.

Bullshit. Can't be arsed repeating myself as to why

Convenient for you!

Who has said this? Many have disagreed, but some seem to be determined to push an agenda that its about this?? Just why?

Making that stayement completely ignores what pp having been posting about. Maybe it should be completely ignored also.
